the reason I went with the 1st gen is because the Gen2 has a front facing camera and slightly better processor...

I am running only 2-3 apps and not multitasking like I do on my phone, hence it didnt make sense for me to spend any more $$$ AND get a refurbed as compared to new...

also I got 32GB instead of 16 just because, I save all the TORQUE logs (dont use much space), I have some music on there, a few movies (came in handy when we were driving back and forth to Chicago, kept the wifey entertained even though she watched only 30 minutes in over 50-60 hours of driving LOL) and I have downloaded offline google maps and at times download my route incase I know I am driving through an area with poor cell service....also because the price difference was only 5-10 bucks when I got mine...

This is some great information of boosting option for FRS/BRZ. In short, about $6k will give us reliable +270whp/+220tq through out the powerband using Rotrex Supercharger kit.

This is very FAST for a car that weighs only 2800 at stock.

hinting at something?

I won't lie, I'm intrigued by the idea of F/I. Not tempted though. I want it to stay daily driven and not have to worry about all that. It seems pointless to go N/A when you can get a lot more power with F/I, but I mainly want the sound, with performance being a close second.

Unequal length header sounds so good...

If I do decide to add more power, it'll certainly be a supercharger kit. And it will DEFINITELY be after I pay off the car and my warranty fully runs out.

The engine is still very new. In 3-4 years, the kits will be much more "complete". Let's wait out so other guys can blow their engines trying to figure out the best F/I set up for this engine.

And to be honest, the car doesn't need extra power for me at the moment. It's just so fun as is. Maybe after 6-8 more track days, I'll say the otherwise since I'll learn how to handle the stock power.

Fun stuff!

By the way, I have seen a lot of F/I FRS/BRZ guys who are local in LA. The majority of people have gone with the supercharger kit, since they don't have to deal with the heat issue much.

The turbocharged cars are having some overheating issue since the current turbo kits have the turbos to seat in the front of the engine.

So yeah, more kits will be articulated with proper cooling solutions in the future.

I've got the same dilemma on making more power...but for now, I/H/E on the S makes me plenty happy!

I get wanting more power and how orgasmic 600000000hp is, but at the same time I also get what makes these fairly light weight, moderately powered cars so fun to drive. There is nothing like revving the balls off a car in the twisties and being in complete control without having to baby it or be worried about the back end coming out. I would get to use that extra power when I'm getting on the freeway or showing off, that's about it.

Though I've never driven a BRZ, I'm willing to bet its got more than enough power and revs to get you into trouble. The amount of tuning, overheating/issues, supporting mods, etc never seems to be worth it, IMO. I would be more than fine with a tune, I/H/E and sticky tires...some of which you've already got. There's no turbo that I would love more than the love I have for knowing when I turn the key, it will start every time and never let me down. There will always be a faster car on the block, let them have the headache.

I/H/E on the S is SEXY.

UEL Header + Tune really wakes up FRS/BRZ too.

I mean yeah, there are so many great ways to make this car go faster. But I certainly don't need it now!

I keep saying this, but UEL and full exhaust sounds so good on this car.

Keep in mind, car in video is equipped with what's considered a loud catback. I'd get a quiet one to tame all the rasp and drone.

These also sound good too! First video, I posted in my thread... I want my car to sound like that (skip to 1:19 for the deep boxer sound)

Coming from an LS1 Camaro, I really miss the deep rumble. The stock exhaust note on this car is really anemic.

I'm buying this from the forum member for $100.

EDIT: My track junkie friend said I would need to purchase the specific tie down for this.... Hmm... thinking about it.

Whoah, I really hope that works out! I'm surprised they'd take liability but I guess if you can prove that the guy said he'd ONLY accept it as "gift" and the deceit was on his end...it'd be worth a couple thousand to stand behind their protection claims.

I don't like the look of HKS at all...does Invidia make a similar system to the Q300 that I have on my S2000? I've been told by every person that's heard it that it's a perfect sounding system. I have a header, flowmaster cat (I removed the test pipe as I knew rasp would come) and Q300...I took the time to high temp shoot the header and partially wrap ALL parts of the exhaust with header wrap since it did such a great job deepening tone and eliminating that resonance on the TL.

Here are 2 vids I made.

this has got to be the best written post in history !!!

definitely made up my mind to stay away from FI...my light TL is a lot of fun to drive and recently I have been seeing the higher RPM's a lot more often...running along side 370z and G37x not only on straight but on the cloverleaves is just awesome...

I have been thinking of going the turbo route, but you did, for the most part, make my mind against it....

100 is not a deal if it is used...I got a brand new one from summitracing for less....I have one (11lb) sitting in my garage for a while since it didnt have enough CCA to start the car over the winter here....its been sitting for a while....

I am using an interstate lawn mower battery which was recommended by another member on here (FCVADI) and I have had nothing but good luck with it....only issue is that its not AGM but lead acid, so you have to mount it straight....with the braille, you can mount it anyway you want it...

while you are at it, if your ground/power wire from the battery to the frame/starter are skinny, might be a good time to upgrade those

Invidia does make two different exhaust for 86. They are quite loud but sounds really good. I've heard them in person.

Just finished talking to a Paypal representative.

I have filed a dispute claim. The rep said they will look into this transaction and they will contact the seller.

If I do NOT receive the item by April 6th, Paypal will refund $300 for me.

It's weird because the representative didn't really care if the transaction was made as standard or gift option. I just said I didn't receive the item yet.

After the rep emailed me the dispute claim number, I let her know that this guy has been scamming multiple people on various forums online, she just said they will look into it. Didn't really ask me anything about it.

Weird but I guess I may get my money back next week.

Keep those fingers crossed. Had a similar situation happen through eBay. I shipped the item and the seller somehow reversed the $300 payment. I battled with Paypal telling me to contact eBay and eBay telling me to contact Paypal everyday for 30 days until we passed their 30 day dispute policy. Nothing ever came of it and that jack off still purchases stuff unscathed.

Yeah, people were saying that if something happened on Ebay, Paypal won't really care about it.

When I called the first thing the rep asked me was if this transaction was for Ebay item.

The rep said there's nothing I have to do but wait til April 6th.

So, someone posted his new non-smoked Valenti tails on his white BRZ. It actually looks really good. I just thought the Valenti only looked good when it's smoked. Hmm. This is only $270 with +20 groupbuy price right now.

What do you guys think?

When I checked out both Valenti and TOMS in person, I actually liked Valenti better since it has stronger lines. The TOMS didn't wow me as much in person honestly. It's more matured.

I thought I'd like smoked better too, but that looks phenomenal! from me.
Also...I wish you luck with Paypal, man...I do hope. The lady doesn't care...she's running down a list of open claims...lol. They offer a service to protect you, they want to keep that name untarnished.

Yeah huh? I hate "dark" tailights, so I just crossed out the Valenti, but these pictures made me to reconsider.

The Valenti looks very freaking FANSTASTIC when it's lit up. And it can be lit up all time.

Soooo...get confirm of the $300 coming back and BAM, pay for tails. You can sell the other ones, right? Didn't you recently buy some to hold you over or something?

Get those...if you decide you want them smoked, you can always do it later.

The aftermarket alone makes me want a car like a BRZ....unreal.

Right? It's amazing that the car has only been out 2 years or whatever...

Yeah, the aftermarket support has been insane. It's just getting better and cheaper. haha

I think I'll hold off on the tailight. I should stop looking at the freaking forum. haha

BUT I did order these 3 little tabs for $35 and my friend is going to sell me her Nexus 7 2012 for $50.

I love the Valentis except for the LED strips for the brake and turn signals. They look like an afterthought

I like the Valenti running lights more than the TOM's but that's about it.

not a big fan of the Nexus 7 mounting either... I think I saw one that replaced the factory radio. Looked a lot better. The navi is growing on me though. It's slow, but I like having all the phone functions with factory integration.

Oh, the very thin brake light and signals? Yeah they are a little thin. The running light is the most important for me though. haha

I can easily just take off the tablet. It's mainly for me to monitor the temperture at the track. I actually like my navigation unit. My phone will still be linked to the stock headunit.

Without the tablet in place:

I mean the whole thing cost me $90 including the Nexus 7. I can't really complain.

That's actually pretty cool, man. Why'd they put your reverse where 1st should go?

So, if we add up all the "little" stuff done so far (or in the works), how close would we be to a good set of coilovers for this car?

You already know that isn't a priority for him, although seeing these sitting properly with little to no fender to wheel gap should help him see the light!

Your BRZ is coming along great! Just read through your thread and I'm impressed how many neat mods there are for this car. I actually was debating between getting a blue BRZ and my current TLS...TL won because of my fiance haha. I also noticed that you went to ucsd? So did I! (Though you're you're a few years older) keep up the great updates!

I will be getting a coilover set + LCA on my next birthday. My wife will be buying them for me. So, it really is not just about saving up for it. I have to mod the car slowly to make my wife happy.

Happy wife, happy life.

I'm still so glad that my wife let me buy the wheels and tires to be honest.

I actually went to USC. I think you saw that JDM exhaust tip comparison picture and thought I went to UCSD!
