Not bad at ALL!
My list wasn't lookin so hot with the $500 soft top reinstall...then my $3200 back into my modding fund made it much easier to pull the trigger on things like coilovers (ahemmm) and full header/high flow/exhaust.

Thanks for the compliment, btw.

Who'd your get your LEDs from? And how's your navi reception with the shorty?

I was thinking about a shorty or a shark fin, as I don't listen to the radio at all. But I don't want to make the navi any slower than it is.

Does the NAVI use the factory antenna? I'd be shocked...since it's RF based, right?

JS, you sound like me justifying my purchases to my wife. OMG so much money, babe, STFU...this is the NEW cost in comparison. See, it's almost like I got it all for free

Oh and the $3200 back in my pocket was for selling the hard top that was gathering dust. Top down all day...

I got it from Autolismo on FT86. That's his username. Was thinking of going with Diode Dynamics or something, but it was too pricey. I honestly just wanted some nice LEDs for Fogs/License plate/dome. That's it.

194 Samsung LED x 2 white = $15.98 (License plate led)
H16 Osram 45W x 2 white = $39.98 (Fogs)
31mm cree 9W x 1 = $9.99 (dome)
Shipping = $5
Total with 10% off = $64.35

The antenna doesn't affect the NAVI. I listen to ESPN/Fox Sports radio all the time in the car, my shorty antenna didn't affect the reception at all.

I rarely use my Navi, but whenever I use it, it works very well. I don't really listen to music, but when I tried it for the first time, I hated the touchscreen control.

If you do use Navi and listen to music a lot, I would just upgrade the headunit. There's a thread on FT86 with all these different headunit reviews. They were pretty damn cheap.

That is definitely one of my tactics to get the mod purchase approved my boss lady, yes.

But she tends to just tell me to get a new one if I really want it. She doesn't like things used. haha

No kidding. It's slow for a brand new headunit. I initially planned to just get an audio processor, amplifier and speakers to improve on it, but I may look into a headunit too. Plus the USB output doesn't recognize my Android phone as an audio device.

Blegh. I hoped a non-turbo car would be less tempting to mod. pfft.

If you are into those, I would highly recommend you to change out the head-unit. It'll be much easier/cheaper way to make the thing right! I only use it to play my local radio stations.

The car has sooooooooooo many mods. You will be tempted to mod the car every night. Most of the parts can positively affect the driving experience. And a lot of the parts are very cheap.

But yeah, read up on a lot of the reviews and stuff. That's always fun!

I'm pretty set on my list.

And my modding plan is always the same. Do NOT buy the part when it's not on any type of promotion. haha

I always do groupbuy/holiday sales/sweet local deal on the slightly used parts. This usually force me to mod slowly since it's not always easy to find the deals and promotions.

That's a good plan to follow... I need to do the same. If I set my mind on wanting something, there's no swaying me, unless it's another brand or something. At least be smart about it and wait it out.

Yeah, you will ALWAYS find a deal, always. It's just a matter of time.

Have fun driving your car man!

Let me know if you have any questions. I'll do the same to you.

Do you ever miss the power of your ms3??

Haha. I'm pretty much done for this year in terms of major mods. Just going to use my 6 coupon track pack that I had bought for this year and probably get a new set of tires when the current ones are done.

Next year, I'll be getting a set of nice coilovers and lower conrol arm.

No, I haven't really missed the power of MS3. It's a completely different car. MS3 and other pocket rocket hatches were designed to be a sporty trim of the econo cars.

FRS/BRZs were designed to be a sports car.

I'm sure I will be adding more power once I dial in the suspension set up in the future.

Adding power is pretty damn easy and affordable for this car. And the aftermarket support will only get better and cheaper.

+1

Agreed, my priorities for modding have changed quite a bit since picking up my S2000. Straight line speed is fun and all, but nothing beats a car that handles like it's on rails

Thanks for the link for track prep by the way, car is going in for last minute preparation and should be solid for 4/5 - excited to see our cars out at the track!

I do want to add a full lip kit when I get myself a set of coilovers to lower the car a little.

Will probably go with BasonR STi style one. The local guy who I bought the camber bolts had it on his car. The fitment and finish were both excellent. Will probably want to paint-match the kit since I don't want to go with black on white theme.

By the way, this guy's white BRZ looks very clean. I PMed him on the detail of paint matching the lip kit to the body. He said he just used white+pearlizer+plastidip the kit. haha It's holding up pretty damn well.

Yeah, I know.

But I never wanted to track that car, so I didn't really have the urge to change it out.

This time, it's different. I promise.

Finally! Nice black one man! Congrats!

Make a new thread of your car! Let's see some more pics of it!

I'm planning to use Motul for both tranny and differential. You need 4 qts total for both.

Congrats Meko!!

I really feel a camaraderie (still have to look that one up) with this car. Within a few days of ownership I've exchanged mutual smiles and waves with a few owners. Feels good, man.

On the flip side, within five hours of ownership some clown in an RSX tried to race me. Luckily I'm way past that stage.
