I wouldn't say it's not worth it, it's more like a XE-2 replacement. It and the forth coming 35mmf/2 would be a great setup.

You got me there. but not having the dual screen setup (not PIP) on the viewfinder and weather-sealing is a huge stepdown. I guess for marketing reasoning, its a between camera

Picked this Sirui monopod with the legs (for a pretty good price off CL), and am impressed with the built quality. I know they are meant for videographers but I do a lot of tilt shift photography around downtown Vancouver, ideally when shifting, the camera (or sensor) should be levelled (and remain in same position while you shift), using a tripod can be a tripping hazard so this works great. I wouldn't use it for long exposures though

My brother is closing his photography business and selling off his equipment. I decided it was time to upgrade from my D200... so I bought his D700 and 17-35/2.8 AF/S lens.

Yes, it's a huge improvement. And man does it ISO.

I was really disappointed in Nikon when they went after the megapixels in their later FF cameras.

As expected, it's slow.

It's usable for static subjects. But if you or the subject moves, forget about it.

One of these days I'll rent an A7RII and see how it perform there.

Is it excruciatingly slow or is it just noticeably slower? I've been toying with the idea of getting an A7R1 with adapter instead of a new Canon body and want to know what the focus speed is like.

I wouldn't say excruciatingly slow. It's as slow as auto focus is with live view (pre dual pixel or pre on-chip AF sensors)

Take a look on YouTube.

Miz, I was just looking at EOS M adapter because it went on sale on SD.. Sucks that Canon didn't continue down the mirrorless route.. I'd love for a way to keep using my Canon glass.

What made you go Sony?

Ok.. Maybe its pretty slow.

It's about as fast as the contrast autofocus slowed down to 300%

The bad reviews with the EOS-M made me go with Sony as I was looking for a smaller but still capable camera.

That and I got a good deal on a brand new one.

Actually I read the reviews that the EOS-M3 is a lot better, but it's not coming stateside for now.

Gotcha! yeah even with the Canon EF to EOS-M adapter, people still complained about slow AF. Coupled with the fact that there aren't many EOS M cameras stateside, what's the point of canon mirrorless

Guess I'll just have to continue to carry my 7D everywhere

^ Buy a Sony A6000 is a solid choice for a dSLR alternative. Unfortunately Sony lenses are ungodly expensive.

I have the NEX-6, the precursor to the a6000. Great camera and they improved the sensor and bumped it up to 24mp. Also the AF is also faster and covers more of the frame compared to the NEX-6.

Body only can be had for $550 new, used $450ish.

point is: money, marketing, money, keeping with nikon, money, just the ability that they can do it, money. I been pretty disappointed at canon as they don't seem to listen to their loyal customers.

Ever since i bought the XT-1 from Fuji, i probably used my DSLR probably 3x in like months. Fuji's are wonderful to look on the OVF, and they do listen to what fuji users want in firmware updates.

I'm actually looking to pick up a yongnuo 560-tx trigger

For one this it allows groups and remote power control with my 560-III flashes

Also i will finally be able to trigger flashes off camera with my NEX-6

The canon compatible model 603 triggers I got won't work with the Sony. Because they're transceivers, with Sony, the triggers default to receive mode for some reason. The updated 603 trigger model can force them to transmit mode.

I've been using the YN622's. They work great and with the YN622TX controller they are even better.

As I said i would earlier, I just picked up the Yongnuo YN560-TX Flash Controller. Works pretty good, I love that i can control the power levels & zoom level from the controller. No need to run to each flash make adjustments. Also great that the controller enables the group mode with the Yongnuo YN-560-III flashes. Lastly i can finally trigger those flashes with my NEX-6
