yep. the 24mm, 50mm, and 135mm are the only three that ever go onto my cameras anymore. the 1-4 is great for when I need some reach, but I don't shoot nature like I used to. Just the kids now.

After much research and thinking, I finally bought a camera strap. Picked up a Peak Design SlideLite (made for mirrorless, there's a bigger one for DSLR's and a smaller one for P/S) and dear god is it awesome. I'm definitely buying more from these guys. I love how well thought out and designed it is.

Current:
Sony A7II
Sony Zeiss FE 55mm Sonnar f/1.8
Sony FE 28mm f/2
Zeiss Batis 85/1.8

Accesories:
Peak Design SlideLite Strap
Tenba DNA 11 Messenger Bag
Manfrotto Tripod (forget the model number), tilt/pan head (it sucks, I need a new one)
KATA 3N1-22 Slingshot Bag
Sigma EF500 DG Super Flash
Tiffen 0.3 ND Filter
Tiffen 0.6 ND Filter
Tiffen 0.9 ND Filter
Bunch of memory cards, probably should get more soon.

Interesting. I was just looking at potential new bags for my new set up...and Peak Designs ended up near the top of my list.

I also want to check out the timbuk2 snoop insert that I could hopefully just toss in my existing timbuk2 messenger and cycling back pack.

But the Peak Design bag seems pretty dope.

I very nearly bought the PD everyday messenger bag but didn't because I read that it's too big (even the smaller one) for a mirrorless setup. I'm probably going to order the everyday backpack (smaller one) and use it as a replacement for my current backpack since that one will do everything plus carry camera gear. Probably going to order the CapturePro as well because that looks useful as fvck.

Since I have the 50-140 lens...I need something a tad larger than a normal mirrorless sized bag. But at least I wont be lugging around a pelican 1510 anymore.

If you need the space then I'd absolutely do it.

Its pretty small as far as pelicans go. Its got wheels if I need them. And it fits in an overheard flight bin, which was the purpose of its design. Before that I used a loewpro/pelican bag/bagpack that I loved that would also fit inside a pelican 1550 case. But I ended up using the 1510 for the past 3-4 years. I'm also not a small dude and in my line of work that 1510 is nothing.

I like my shit to be protected

But with going smaller/lighter I want easier to carry easier to access. I took the XT1 I'm borrowing with my 16-55 with me to kids school this morning for their first day, and it was so easy to carry around. I don't regret the switch.

Ohh, well for work and travel, yea understandable. I thought you were saying that's your primary bag that you carried around even to events for your kids/family events.

I stopped the timbuk2 store on the way home this afternoon to check out their snoop inserts. They had the new and old style. I ended up getting the new style to try out as I can put in my timbuk2 messenger, and my timbuk2 cycling backpack.

Not sure I like it that much as its a little flimsier than I imagined. So, I'll try it for a week or two. I don't really want to buy ANOTHER bag and $55 for the insert is better than $220 for the peak design bag or $150 for a domke. So, we'll see. Ease and functionality will win over all.

I picked this up recently and love it! It's soooo well made. You wouldn't need the DNA 15, but the 11 should be big enough

Cool, I'll add it to the list.

The kicker is being able to store the camera with the 50-140...so while most mirrorless design bags are great...they were made with that size in consideration.

I've been using Think Tank Photo Streetwalker Series bags. I have both the Pro and the Harddrive. I'm a backpack guy, don't like bags on my side. But I do have a Think Tank Mirrorless 20 that I will use from time to time.

If I'm out for everyday whatever, I prefer a messenger. Larger excursions, backpack.

The Tenba Cooper 13 Slim looks pretty nice. Might check that one out, too.

I have a Tenba 11 and love it. The only downside is I can't dual purpose it like I could with the PD products. I'm going to get the everyday backpack and literally make it into my everyday backpack for work/travel. Haven't yet decided if I want to keep the Tenba as well though... I couldn't justify the cost for the messenger bag because I wouldn't use it every day like I would with the backpack. It was at the top of my list and I almost bought it before the Tenba came up on c-list for $70 in brand new condition and I couldn't pass that up lol.

How big is the 50-140? I can measure it out in the Tenba 11 if you give me dimensions. FWIW, my bag fits my A7II, 55mm, 28mm, 85mm, all my memory cards, batteries, etc (literally everything I'd imagine carrying with me) with room to spare. I could likely carry another zoom or two primes without any problems. Depending on what other lenses you plan on bringing with, it would probably fit in there too. Downside is that it's doubtful that the 50-140 would fit while mounted to the body but I think that's an issue you're going to have everywhere other than a backpack.

Well, I ended up stopping at Samy's while I was out running errands.

I checked out the Tenba DNA 13, The Cooper 11 Slim, and the Peak Design Everyday 13 and 15. The only one they didn't have was the Domke F-803.

I like the tenbas. The DNA series was a little "portly" and sporty looking compared to the Cooper Slim, which I really liked. It's made out of that nice soft waxed Canvas, has a thinner profile, and the entire camera insert can be removed if you want to use it as a regular messenger. All retaining great features such as the zippered top access. But for as nice as it is, the over all "softness" off the bag left it feeling not very protective.

Then, I checked out the Peak Design, which I admit I already had a bit of a hard on for, and that bag just blows my away. The foldable "transforming" dividers, the sleek fashionable look of the bag, the little details like expandable magnetic front clasp, the design of the shoulder strap, the "stiffness" of the reinforcement on the bag walls, and the little areas they included to be compatible with their plate system. Its just such a smart design.

I ended up going with the 13 and just said fuck it and spent the cash. This can very much become an everyday bag for me, while my larger timbuk2 can be relagated to a work bag...which it kind of is anyway.

I felt the 15 was just too big, especially with how stiff this bag is, and the 13 was comfortable.

I would have most likely gone for the back pack, but I'm not waiting until potentially Dec for it to release.

And of course I will be returning the timbuk2 insert I got, while I liked the idea, the actual insert feels thin and has no sort of reinforcement. It's a bandaid.

I really had no interest in their capture pro stuff...except now I see how it works with their bag, and I'm totally sold on that. And that its compatible with most tripods. I'll end up with one at some point. I wish there lens capture had a Fuji option.

I'm sure I'll end up with their camera strap at some point...or maybe the wrist strap, since I tend to not like neck straps.

But I just took a walk around my neighborhood with the bag and camera/lenses. I just dig this bag.

Awesome, glad to hear you're liking it. The capture stuff seems to work great with hiking backpacks which is where I want to use it.

As far as straps go, I'm totally in love with the slidelite strap. It's far and away better than any other camera strap I've used and is perfect and comfortable for a mirrorless body+lens while being super useful. For $50, you really can't go wrong.

Has anyone used the mefoto backpacker?

One of the things I'm guessing with this new system, is that I will be more tripod dependent...maybe not. But has anyone used this little guy? Figured for the price, it might be a decent little thing.

Go with the Roadtrip, the backpacker is just too little. I have one, but really only use if with iPhone and if I screw up and forget my bigger one. If you want to do any long exposure, Roadtrip is stronger.

I'll wait til they are out...but since it can hold multiple lenses with the little protective divider is might be a nice way to really "slim" down when carrying limited gear.

Also, someone pointed out B&H is selling the everyday messenger 13 for $169 for some unknown reason. So, Samys refunded me the difference in price

I'd buy that if I didn't have the backpack on order...

Now I just need to get the capture clip and I'll be all set.

Yeah I want a capture pro for my bag. Debating if I want the slide lite, the clutch, or the cuff....at the moment Im leaning clutch but I constantly change.

I will look at the backpack (20L) whenever it finally comes out.

I had the same dillema before I bought the slide lite and decided that the biggest drawback to the clutch/cuff is that you can't let the camera go without setting it down which means one hand is always tied up with holding it. With the strap, you just let it go and your hands are free. FWIW, you can actually have both the slide and the clutch at the same time, just mount them to different anchor points.

I'd be happy to do a review once I get the backpack...

I really can't stand Samys Camera at times...particularly the one close to me. Says sent out their Labor Day deals, and it specifically said the Globetrotter Carbon Fiber model for $249 with no tax. I thought it sounded too good to be true, but it was there in writing. I went to buy it today, guy says yep. We go to ring it up, along with a NEW 10-24 zoom. It wont come up for the sale. Guys goes and talks to someone and comes back saying it was a typo in the ad and he wont honor it. He keeps ringing up the lens, and I say dont bother and I leave.

I call the main Samys store all the way in Fairfax...yeah its on sale, yeah its the Carbon model...OK...

I get there, start going through the same thing. Mid ring up one of the other salespeople says "yeah, turns out it was a typo but oh well, good job!" And the guy ringing me up says, "Yep, that was our mistake and it says it right here. Great deal."

And thats the way it should be. Company mismarks something and its in writing...honor it. A-holes.

Definitely need a bigger camera bag, my old flipside 300 is just a tad too small now with both a DSLR and mirrorless cam.

Regret not bringing my 12mm f2 lens, but I figured I wouldn't need it since it got the 17-40mm

would've came in handy for the northern lights I saw during my flight to Amsterdam. Had to max the ISO on my NEX-6 to 25600, really noisy

Why'd you pick this guy over the Roadtrip?

I'd offer you by old bag but it's probably not big enough for you if the 300 isn't.
