btw, you suck |
Did you get it with the new 24-70 mk ii?
Cuz damn that's a lot of $$$ |
ISO 12,800 video footage and comparison to 5DII. Anyone who says this camera is not much different than the 5DII (not even talking about the 5Dc) is uh, yeah. :bandito:

Canon's 24mm lenses shine on FF. Seriously I felt SO limited by the 7D with the 24-70.
Just saw this, Canon didn't just pick some arbitrary amount for the megapixel count. The native resolution of the 5D3 is 5760 pixels wide.... 5760 / 3 = 1920. That is pretty sweet for downscaling as it is an exact number. |
|
Seriously....High ISO with a 1/3152 shutter and f8...who gives a shit?
Show the real test. Show ISO 51200 with a 1/80 shutter at a f2.8. I feel like a super fast shutter and a closed aperture is like cheating. |
I think the files are primarily to show the high ISO performance.

Because unless I was shooting sports in daylight....then I never shoot at that. Because I don't use a flash. All I'm saying...is the tests bury some true data based on HOW they were shot. |
I don't think I've ever shot that fast at f/8. But, I can look at these photos and get an idea about the high ISO performance of this camera.

Stopping down is effectively crushing your blacks in camera and hiding evidence. |
These are pretty standard ISO test type subjects and views companies use to showcase their cameras performance, in a 'controlled' environment, initially.
|
Im with Sarlacc on this one.
id want to see a 1/80th F2.8 type shot. |
sure, I would too.

just saw it will do 5 and 7 shot AEB... finally!

speaking of the 1D......... :what:
http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/03/c...e-5d-mark-iii/ Chuck Westfall & the 5D Mark III March 12, 2012 Canon’s Chuck Westfall interviewed with Arash Hazeghi about the 5D Mark III and what sets it apart from its predecessors. It’s an interesting read, and offers lots of insight into the improvements in sensor design as well as the all new autofocus system. Mr Westfall breaks down the AF system CW: The number and distribution of high-precision cross-type AF points has increased on the new 61-point AF system relative to the 45-point AF system used by the EOS-1D Mark IV. Moreover: · The overall AF system speed of the EOS-1D X including lens drive is superior to that of the EOS-1D Mark IV on a lens for lens basis. The overall AF detection speed of the EOS 5D Mark III is superior to the AF detection speed of the EOS-1D Mark IV. · The level of AF precision for 5 of the central area AF points on the 61-point sensor (i.e., the dual X-shaped cross-type points) is superior to the level of precision for any of the AF points on the 1D Mark IV. · 21 cross-type AF points in the central area of the 61-point sensor are functional with maximum apertures as small as f/5.6; None (zero) of the cross-type points on the EOS-1D Mark IV are functional as cross-type sensors at maximum apertures smaller than f/4. · The 61-point AF sensor has twice the low light sensitivity as the 1D Mark IV’s 45-point AF sensor (EV -2 vs. EV -1). · The 61-point AF system supports AI Servo III, which is superior in subject tracking stability and consistency compared to AI Servo II found on the EOS-1D Mark IV. · The 61-point AF system adds a greater degree of user control for subjects with various characteristics of acceleration and deceleration such as birds in flight. · The 61-point AF system not only has 16 more AF points than any of the 45-point systems, it is also 20% wider in coverage (19mm vs. 15mm), making it easier for photographers to keep their subjects within the active AF area. |
Nice, sounds like a great upgrade for both the 1DX and 5D3
Now I hope there aren't any issues with the new AF like how the mkIII had issues |
if you guys didnt see it.

Very nice...and slick...but I am curious if it still went in PP. There has to be Noise reduction/sharpening on that image.

what, did you think you'd be the first person in Chicago to get one? :chuckle:
|
I thought I would be in the TOP 3!
|
Actually, B&W should be shipping the first pre-orders tomorrow according to the rumors. Not sure if I made the first batch.....
|
B&h
|
errrr...typo..... :D
|
Big clusterfck @ B&H if you look at other photography forums. I called them and they said I wouldn't get my order in until end of April or early May. On top of it, they are closed for two weeks in April for Passover. I just placed an order with Adorama.
|
Everybody has problem with about everywhere that had taken preorders. You might have better luck checking local shops.
|
just noticed the guy who took those Chicago photos is on "HDR Chicago" group on Facebook.

A really good review of the 5DmkIII from a Nikon shooter.
http://www.ryanbrenizer.com/2012/03/...n-5d-mark-iii/ I'll be interested to see how true his current assessment of the camera not taking to pushing the images exposure as well as the Nikon. Otherwise, this guy really loves the camera. |

PDF download link below.
Useful for the 5D3 also (see below). http://learn.usa.canon.com/resources...?categoryId=12 Master the EOS-1D X's AF System March 28, 2012 Canon Inc. in Japan has provided a richly-illustrated guidebook on the new 61-point High Density Reticular AF system found in both the EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III* cameras. This guide offers a wealth of information about different possible settings and when to apply them. It explores the basic characteristics of the new AF system, shows the differences that occur when various lenses are mounted, and even gives suggestions for instantly changing from one AF point or AF area mode to another. Canon's free download opens the door to the potential that exists within this spectacular 61-point AF system, and we encourage anyone interested in these new cameras to take advantage of this great resource. * Since the EOS 5D Mark III shares nearly all aspects of its AF system with the EOS-1D X, this guide is equally useful for that camera, as well.

The III is finally arriving on Friday. :woot:
|
i was thinking of getting the 5D3 eventually, but after using my 1D recently.. i dunno now :annoyed:
|
Im surprised no one posted the announcement of the 1Dc....full 4K video capable via hdmi out....came out with the announcement of the C500...also 4K but at full 4:4:4 color space.
|
i read about it. whats your opinion on it?
i was gonna post it, but i was over seas and figured someone else would. |
I haven't read too much about it. Saw the story...didnt care.
The C500...Says Canon is very serious about trying to break into professional film production. The 1Dc...I don't know what to make of it...was this in the works? Is this a quickie answer to the D800? Didn't even try to look at the cost. Just an odd offering. |
it was in the works. they only mentioned something was in the works a while ago that would be a 1 series but more catered to movies.
|
i see it was mentioned to be in development back in November.

Used the 5d3 on a shoot for Honda Tuning Mag this weekend, ridiculously sharp. I actually used less lens' then I usually do due to being FF now.
