Too bad they don't make actual HVAC duct work that small. That would have been the best.

BTW, ran across this on a macro forum while searching on Manfrotto's Magic Arm.

I was going to say...that looks like it came straight out of the macro section on POTM!!!

Interesting what those people do to their flashes, but their photos are simply amazing.

My goodies came in today.

This Lowepro Pro Trekker 300 is Gorgeous! It's very large, but I knew it would be. The attention to detail is impressive. I'm stoked!

well.. SINCE you asked.. I had a curious thing happen after posting all 320 pictures from NYE party to my Facebook... I started getting random requests to do weddings. I mean, from people I don't know. I got several within the following week. And so, I figure if I start doing that, I'll get a 7D pretty quick. I would even probably want one before shooting any wedding at all, with my luck the 5's shutter will decide to die during the ceremony. so yeah, fingers crossed!

Lots of people hate on Facebook - but it's got to be the best marketing tool ever. Post your pics, people start tagging the pics, other people start seeing em, and you get this ginormous network. It's a super platform.

That's great! You know, I thought it would be pretty hard to cover a wedding by myself, and I think that was something that made me hesitant about even considering it (but now I feel differently about that, I think I *could* do it - smaller ones at least).

BUT I hope you're not joking because I will definitely take you up on that offer if the need arises... It would be nice to be able to offer a 2nd photographer, if needed. And most importantly someone who's work I like. I can't think of ANYONE in CHI area I would want to work with - and I know a pretty good number of event photogs.

I have absolute faith you can do it - no question.

I do think it's nice to have 2 people covering, though, for any number of reasons. That's a huge compliment - thank you. I'm so not kidding!

Ah, feel the love in here, if you need yet another shutter going off I'm in as well.

I was to help shoot last month, but I've been having a few problems with my vertigo. Seems I've had some fluid in the ear.

Man I need better friends to goto conventions with.

All the photos they took of me with porn stars have poor composition, focused on the wrong spot (focused on BG), shot in landscape and only got faces.

Any thoughts on material to use for a seamless white background sweep with tabletop still life stuff? Velvet of some sort from the local fabric store should do fine for a black background. The thing that has me scratching my head is what to use for a white background. Since this is tabletop stuff I have in mind, I'm concerned that any texture in white cloth would "catch" directional lighting and become visible.

This may or may not be applicable but maybe something you could consider: I remember reading a while ago about a setup where you light the white background with a separate static light that basically blows it out - so it doesn't show any definition if you take a picture of something in front of it. Something like one of those high intensity shop lights or a bright video light. Hope that makes sense...

Yeah, Lastolite makes those sorts of things for people-sized shots. It's called their HiLite product. I'm open to attempting a DIY small scale version but again, I'd be at a loss where to find the right type of translucent white material for the front and the reflective material for the back and insides.

but I think if you blow out the white, it doesn't matter what the material is?

Quite true. If it's blown out, it's blown out. I just still feel bit of the blindfolded throwing darts thing. In this case though it would be for finding material that's sufficiently translucent for the lighting I'd have available instead of something that wouldn't show a texture if front-lit.

Speaking of "lit". You gotta love the t-shirt Zack Arias throws in if you order one of his training DVDs.

I'm trying to find some translucent plexiglass around here for exactly the same project, and I'm having a really hard time tracking some down. Surprisingly enough, there's no Plexiglass Depot up here...

Does anyone here own a G11? I'm thinking about getting one. I've convinced a few friends to get S90's but SS and I like the swivel screen that our current A-series P&S has.

I haven't heard anybody here say they have one, but it has to be better than the G10. I saw some images that it was compare with the 7D and looked pretty damn good.
