It just depends on what I want to do. Most of the time, I just use Photoshop. Before LR3, which I didn't like. I use LR most of the time. I use plug-ins so I pretty much use Photoshop now because that's just where I go to.

You don't have to use both. You can use one or the other, it just depends on your workflow and what works best for you. I tend to just use Photoshop now because I use one image at a time.

Import into LR4, overall adjustments, minor touch-up and cropping in LR. Export to PS only if I need to add/remove sections, stitch or do more localized adjustments, then save back to LR. Add metadata in LR, publish to flickr from LR.

So basically I use LR as a glorified ACR UI and for catalog/metadata management - so it's both the entry and exit point for photos coming in from the camera and out to the interwebs.

I shoot in RAW so I'll adjust in Lightroom first. I also like how LR manages photos for editing. Just like einsatz, I use LR for "macro" editing. I'll adjust color tone, contrast, clarity, temperature, etc. The only thing I don't do on the macro scale in LR is sharpening. I do that in PS. I don't know why, but I feel that PS does a better job at it. After adjustments in LR, I go to PS and remove unwanted objects. Basically all the "micro" editing in PS.

Btw einsatz, I didn't know you could add metadata and upload straight from LR. I'll have to look into that.

Hmmm

I'll be going to Barcelona, France, Italy, Croatia and Montenegro in April...

Gonna try and get a FF camera before then. Hopefully a 1DS3

Although not sure if I should stretch a bit and get a 5D3

man. no brainer IMO. 5D3.

I know you like the feel of the 1D but I personally do not think the 5D3 (especially with grip, which you can get later) - is much farther in feeling to a 1D. With the grip it feels more robust than the 1Ds3. The contoured and textured areas everywhere are really nice. The 1Ds3 does not have this.

Yea figured, but the 5D3 is WAY out of my budget...

Take out the 5D3 then what do you think?

so tired.....time for bed. I was up far too early for no good reason, and then outside in the bitter cold all day kicked my ass too. Maybe tomorrow night I will get a chance to go though my pics. At the end of the day it looked like a camera store exploded in my truck, there was shit everywhere

I did lose my Sigma 24-60s hood somewhere in the snow though.

oh yeah, any suggestions for getting my CPL off a step up ring? I put it on.....not very tight, and the damn thing welded its self together. Great time to lose it for my wide angles, I was battling really bright sun all day

I started going through my pictures from yesterday, I had the 70-200 on my 20D for all but 1 shot with that lens. ALL the pictures with it were blown out due to the sun, luckily there wasnt a lot at all with it.

I then popped in the card from the 5D, which I used the shit out of.....nothing. I can shoot with it, and view pictures in the camera just fine, no errors. But as soon as I put it in my reader, it will recognize the reader, but not the card. If I try to open it, it locks that application up. Tried to access the card by tethering the camera to my laptop, and it wont even recognize the card.

Any suggestions, aside from throwing these POS Kingstons away and going with more San Disks like I should have in the first place?
