I guess Sony is trying to save money (well I don't blame them) - the RX100 does not come with a printed manual.

you get a link to this:

I'm pretty sure I've seen other products going this route (not Sony products)

well yes, but those are generally lower-priced and not-as-serious things.... right? It's just surprising that for such a complicated device as this there is no manual in the box

Meh, having access online on the fly (because most people have smartphones these days ) is easier anyway IMO, but whatever

Besides, one can argue that it's "greener " going paperless.

yea, alot of devices are starting to not come with them.

with smart phones and tablets and PCs you can just download the PDF of the manual and look at it there.

less crap to carry, saves companies on shipping and packaging material and saves trees and fuel.

with all the advancements being made in photo industry, I'm annoyed that nobody is making a 15-135 or something around there, that works with FF. It can be f/4.0 on the wide end. basically a UWA zoom. it could even be 15-70 or 15-50. it doesn't have to be that big a range.

the 17-40 is close but that 40mm is just not enough many times. and 17 is not wide enough many times.

I'm not convinced - I think technology can overcome optical physics.

what's so funny? Olympus does make a 12-50 lens, for 4/3. the companies are being lazy, they need to make lenses like that that will work with APS-C and FF.

Nikkor 1200-1700mm: The Mother of All Super Telephoto Nikon Lenses. Weighing in at 36 pounds and measuring nearly 3 feet in length, the manual focus lens was introduced in 1993 and had a hefty price tag of $60,000.

The 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 ED M.Zuiko EZ Micro 4/3 Lens (Black) from Olympus is a compact, lightweight 4.2x zoom lens that covers a lot of ground. With a digital-dedicated design as well as multi-coating on all lens surfaces, this exceptionally lightweight (7.44 oz/211 g) Micro 4/3 lens boasts very high imaging performance. Covering wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths (35mm equivalent of 24-100mm)
They already make a lens like that but for APS-C/FF

why cant my Blackberry have better low light ability to catch a quick moving object?

I was in PBR Baltimore the other night, and the attention whore were lining up to ride the mechanical bull in their dress' and mini skirts, KNOWING that every time one of them does, at first the front of her panties is totally exposed, and 3 out of 5 of them then end up laid out over the front of the bull with her ass in the air, skirt bunched up to her belly button

Though that is a drawback, this is very nice. You always have a lens on the camera, that if you need to take a picture, you just move the lever.

I was thinking something about patents - you know how Apple sued Samsung for that stuff - I wonder how Canon feels about companies blatantly ripping off their S-series focus ring?

That seems like a much more tangible and arguable design function, I mean compared with the kind of things Apple is suing for. Apple = blood thirsty monopolistic carnivores

You have to look at the patent first, and then who's to say they don't pay Canon is it is an issue.

oh you're saying Sony may have got the rights to use the ring from Canon? for some reason I highly doubt that.

Then look into it before shooting off your mouth, , companies do pay other companies for use of patents.

Did you know that Nikon uses Sony sensors?

Impossible! Why would one company use anothers technology in their product!

But that is a business relationship, they are actually buying a product.
