Would you mind posting the settings you used? Being so new, I would be interested to see how it was taken to further understand photography.

I'm assuming you are talking to me (?)

The first two pictures were with a 14mm wide angle lens but with a full frame camera, on a tripod, long exposure. I can't remember off hand at the moment how long, I took like five different shots. It's a manual focus lens, no chips so no exif info.I can look it up later.

3Rd picture was with a 24-70 lens, I believe@30mm, also with tripod, I'll look up the exposure and post later

You can use this exif reader and get a lot of picture's info sometimes:

I took different pics at different apertures and don't really remember, but it was at .5 seconds (first picture), so I'm pretty sure it was @f2.8

the 2nd one was @ 6 seconds, so I'm not sure... sorry. It's what you get with a manual lens unchipped.

I would walk the backlight away about 5ft and come a little camera right (towards the subject) I'd also tilt it down a little.

I would difuse or soften up the key light.

And if you're going for a beauty shot. Her complexion would be a good place to experiment with diffusion filters.

Synth, if you are looking for a PP tool to use for things like eye/teeth and complexion, give this free one a try:

It depends on how you use it. it could be subtle and people won't notice but your model will be your best friend, or it could be dramatic and people will point it out right away

to add to that.. try a beauty dish (you can buy one or DIY with a styrofoam bowl)... or try high key processing in post. agree that it'll look better with more light diffusion.

I used ps to "wipe" the bugs off the helmet shield. Though, looking back I should have taken the helmet pics with the whole bike in the frame.

No, I didn't get up early was just too tired from my quick trip. I'm glad I didn't get up. Huntley Meadows was just about completely devoid of water, so no wildlife to be found. There's a picture of what it looked like on the DC Photogroup on FB.

IMO, not one bit.

When I think of a professional portrait/model shoot, I figure there is at least one makeup person there. All you are doing is replacing the makeup person with software.

Looks great!

Thank you kind sir! I have so much fun on this bike! I drove around for hours "looking" for a spot to snap some pics before I settled on this spot.

Flew back from Vegas in a red-eye flight last night/this morning, saw this, took a pic, and went back to sleep

Quality isn't great (cell phone), but the real image looked great..

Its been a pretty crappy summer thus far in Chicago! Rubin just takes full advantage of the "photogenic" days.

Here's one of a 5 series headlight.
