I hear ya, but sharpness and white balance is important to know! Sometimes you need people to point that out because at times, you don't notice these issues especially if you've been processing for awhile. But I understand your point... just saying.

agreed on this, and with all the technology today, taking a good photo in terms of composition, framing, and subject matter (the stylistic elements) is just as important as knowing what settings to use on your camera, and what to do with the photo once it leaves your camera.

this exact topic was discussed on DPS a while back - have a look:

And another random photo. Very soft and very poor white balance. But I like it...

There is nothing wrong with the white balance. Its the contrast. The image was either shot through something (ie a veil) or the lens was dirty/old/coating was gone.

Either way, that does NOT make for a bad photo. I call it stylized.

Yeah I was just messing around. I handheld my canon 85 in front of my e-pl1. So I think most of the softness comes from reflection off the rear element.

I did that once with my D3 and my old RolleiSport top finder.

^Love the composition! The sky/lighting looks awesome and the car, too.

I am guessing the road is sloped, hence the not level horizon?

Yea there is no way to level it haha I wasn't sure if the horizon should be leveled or the ground of the car?

I did it different in both haha... any suggestions?

I like the composition, but not entirely sure the car is in focus. What aperture did you shoot this at?

synth i shot it at 2.0
135mm 2.0

I think i had the defocuse at 2 and a bit of processing made it washed out a bit more, which is why I failed at processing it more =\

Ok so this is gonna be a stupid question. How do you guys get your pictures to look so saturated/vibrant in the center and go darker towards the outside? Post processing??? For example, the ugly bird pic has that technique applied to it.

Is it dangerous?

Sly Raskal - I used the presets in lightroom. I think it was vignetting #2. And to make it more saturated I will usually play around with the vibrance and contrast in Lightroom.

ahhh vignetting. gotcha. Yea, I've played around in lightroom with the vibrance and contrast settings among other things. Didn't play around with vignetting yet. Thanks.

It might be a black vulture? Turkey vultures have reddish legs too.
