Thanks

Carl Zeiss 135mm f1.8 @f2 (on a full frame). I wasn't very close, that picture was originally taken in portrait mode, but I decided the composition was better cropped this way.

Bored, messing around with some old photos from when we visited the Redwood Forest. If you've never been there I suggest you go sometime pictures don't do these trees justice on just how freaking big they are.

Thanks! She makes me smile. Interestingly, that photo has gotten more views on Flickr in the last couple of days than anything else I've ever posted there. I guess people are drawn to cute.

And yes - the Redwoods are not to be missed. They will make you feel humble.

No - she does have her own blog (or dlog, as it were), though.

www.thesolblog.com

It's been a while since she's updated her page, since her mom sucks about taking pics these days. She intends to do a holiday post with her recent photo sesh, though.

Thanks.

The shot with the shot is at my friend/production company owners house...turns out we are shooting more today.

The second shot is at their clients office

All the stuff on the website was a mutual friend's home.

The bulk of the shooting right now is for asset pieces to plug into little flash animations...so Its been shooting blocks at various angles and cutting them out in PS...tedious.

awesome.

I love the detail/clarity, the DOF and the background on that first one.

The second shot is sharp front to back on the cubes, too! Did you do math to get it right or chimp it/guess? just wondering, neither is right/wrong (IMO).

rough math...wider lens = more DOF....along with stopping down on the aperture = more DOF.

So I went with a 35mm and I forget my stop...somewhere around an 8/11 and lowered my shutter and went higher ISO to do it.

The top shot is a 105 Macro.

But are older manual AIS Nikor lenses. Actually I think the 105 might just be AI.

Some more of today's work....

Here is our shoddy low budget POS workspace. We were flying by the seat of our pants as the client had no real layout for us.

And what followed is 36 identical shots...did some other set ups, but they were screen grabs off an iPad.

it's been forever since I've done a real panoramic (as in multiple shots stitched, NOT using in-camera pano mode). I want to start practicing this because I DO plan on buying a 24mm tilt/shift lens...

this was taken @24mm in portrait mode, 3 shot stitched (cropped to center the Christmas tree in the middle)
