Thanks, I can definitely see the limitation of the kit lens thou, it tends to flare alot and clips the blue and red highlights.

Can't complain thou, I like the compact size

Btw I posted that bridge pic to 500px, it made popular and 91.6 pulse rate

Apparently my little mutt got explored yesterday. I rarely use Flickr anymore, but it's always been funny to me how the photos I really love get can get no attention, then something I'm not entirely happy with makes explore.

Poor doggie.

In this setup, I had an Alienbees camera left with 24"x36" softbox, a large white reflector camera right, and an Alienbees with beauty dish behind model camera right (for kicker/rim light)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/63271580@N00/11055020785/http://www.flickr.com/photos/63271580@N00/11055020785/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/63271580@N00/, on Flickr

While I liked the depth, the designer wasn't too keen on the shadows on the model's face and wanted something different. So I ended busting out the very large 86" reflective umbrella, placed it directly behind me and went with a one light setup...

I know, right?

I mean, I'll admit... There was a bit too much shadows but that could have been fixed with moving the light over

Yeah, about the eyebrows... They're actually not that bad but it's the makeup. Apparently, big brows look is in (at least in the industry). I notice it in commercials too

Well yea depends on their target audience and whatever other requirements they need for where they're gonna use the image.

Also I was told over in Europe their target audience and companies don't care for lighting setups like here in the us, for them a simple 2 light setup is what they want.

meh'... I never said I was into it either. I was just stating the fact. Besides, I would say a good 90-95% of the shit you see in fashion magazines, runways etc etc never make it out to the streets (in the real world). And that would also apply to makeup trends. Or at least it gets toned down.

Anytime there's a photo op, I'm ALL over it, especially when the model and makeup artist is provided. The way I look at it, if I was a pro and getting paid, someone comes to me for a shoot... I just do my part and keep my mouth shut about what I think is good looking and what's not.

I wish! No, late stage Lyme disease. The dog pics are the first I've taken with a DSLR since April. :/

I've strongly considered trading out some gear. I'll never sell the 5DIII - it's my dream camera and I can't let it go. But, in addition to my husband's 7D, I have 2 more 7D's and a 40D - I've considered selling a couple of those and maybe a duplicate lens or two to buy a lighter micro 4/3 system. I keep thinking I'll be sad I did if I get well enough to get the business running again, though. It's been so long now, though - it's probably time. My cell camera just isn't satisfying.

my wife's sister and her daughter.

I've seen this done before where you'd stick a flashgun inside an reflective umbrella as a key light, I've always wanted to try it. My wife was to my left and held another flashgun as a fill light (I forgot to bring a stand ) I decided to do this when it was raining, of course by the time I got the setup going, it had stopped
