This is what I've been waiting for detailed comparison between the old Model 3 Superbottle and the new Model 3 heat pump and octavalve.

The heat pump and octavalve is able to take excess heat from the batteries and the motors and send it to the cabin

Think of those figures like our Canadian/metric fuel mileage (ie L/100km). The bigger the number, the more energy is used up for every km travelled; which means lower range.

Now unless the Oslo - Nebennes leg is a typo, it shows the 2021 with the heat pump having the worst mileage out of all the stats given (on that particular trip); so what does that tell us?

He blames the snow storm. Looks like he ran the tests on the same night but since he was the only driver he drove the old model 3 first than the new one. So temps were a little bit colder and it had started to snow on the 2nd lap.

That is pretty cool.

When I was traveled Europe a couple years ago, there were a lot of Teslas, specifically the Model X and S.

Model 3 crowned best American compact luxury car by Consumer Reports

Tesla Model 3 & Model S Crowned Best American Luxury Cars, According to Consumer Reports

Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model S are the best American cars in their respective categories, according to the Best American Cars, SUVs, and Trucks list compiled by Consumer Reports.

Consumer Reports recently compiled a list of America's best cars, ranking Tesla in the top two spots. The overall score takes into account individual road-test scores, reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety.

According to Consumer Reports, Tesla is one of the best, and its cars are among the most popular American vehicles. Tesla delivers the driving experience expected from luxury cars. And also, with the brand's focus on technology, it sets the bar for what customers should look for in luxury cars.

Tesla Model 3 is the best American car in the luxury compact car category. The vehicle received an overall score of 78. Consumer Reports noted that Model 3 "acceleration is swift, and its handling is remarkably agile." The interior is uncluttered and nicely finished, with comfortable front seats.

Tesla Model S is the top American car in the ultra-luxury car category, with a total score of 70 points. Consumer Reports emphasizes that Model S is elegant and luxurious. It has one of the longest ranges of any electric vehicle in existence today.
"Performance is exceptional, with quiet and thrilling acceleration, pinpoint handling, and a firm yet comfortable ride - particularly with the standard 19-inch tires and air suspension."

Tesla vehicles are distinguished by their excellent driving characteristics and performance, yielding an unforgettable driving experience. Autopilot with active driver assistance features, which greatly enhance Tesla's vehicle safety, advanced technology, excellent infotainment, and frequent OTA updates all combine for superior customer satisfaction.

I thought a while ago CR had removed its recommendations for the Tesla cars, and now they’re back recommending it again. What’s the deal?

The performance model 3 is confirmed to have an 82kwh battery, 6kwh more than the long range

Im sure the long range model will eventually get this as production increases. He weighs the car it weighs the same as the older model so there’s an 8% increase in energy density

He also tested the new headlights. I think he mentioned in a previous video that the headlights in the euro 3 was worse than the us 3 because of some regulations, but now they’ve fixed it. He thinks it’s got LED matrix

Model 3 tops UK new car sales in December (including all ICE cars). It's finally happening. Last week it was Norway, Now it's Britain. Wake up call to those who still don't believe in the EV revolution.

Shhh....what the Tesla fanbois won't tell you is that the biggest reason Britons, and many Europeans too, are buying EV's is because they can avoid a metric fuck ton of taxes and fees because of it not to mention massive subsidies and rebates. It's not because it's the best car around it's because who doesn't like saving money?

Sandy Munro bought a '21 Model 3 and is going through another teardown to see what changed since the '18 Model 3 he tore down. He hated the body of the older Model 3, found lots of issues with it, he compared it with a "90s Kia" but said that the drivetrain and tech inside it was years ahead of everyone else. He recommended lots of changes and when he tore down the Model Y he found lots of improvements where they had taken his recommendations and gone above and beyond that.

It'll be interesting to see what's changed, the modern 3 doesn't have all of the body improvements of the Y like the single piece rear megacasting but there should be improvements

Not sure what is worse, the window shattering or the attitude of the service center.

First, it shattered. Then, it took a nosedive onto the highway.

You’d expect Sentry Mode and Teslacam to protect your EV against vandals and unfair accident claims, but Julie McCuen learned these video recording features also help customers against Tesla itself. After the right rear window in her 2019 Model 3 SR+ shattered spontaneously and fell out of the car onto the middle of a freeway, Teslacam was her only resource to get Tesla to repair her vehicle under warranty.

If the story seems familiar, that’s because it is. We have been covering spontaneous glass-shattering in Model 3 units since March 2020, and most of them have happened on the right rear window. However, this is the first case in which the problem occurred at high speed.

“I was driving south on the 55 Freeway on February 2 in the city of Orange, Southern California. The incident happened just before the Chapman Avenue exit. I was in the carpool lane and there was no one around me at the time in any of the five lanes on that stretch of the freeway.”

McCuen received a “sound alert" about the problem, so to speak.

“I heard a faint cracking sound behind me and when I looked back the entire rear passenger window was shattered. I immediately started to try to make my way to the slow lane to exit the freeway. I hit a bump while transitioning from the number 3 lane to the number 2 lane and that was enough to dump the shattered window out of the car and onto the freeway.”

The video above seems to start when she received the "warning." You can see McCuen trying to change lanes and a Kia Sorento to the right suddenly slows down. The SUV is forced to make a brisk maneuver to avoid the shattered window on the ground. It dropped on the asphalt as a single piece because it had window film.

“Had it not been for the tint on my windows, the glass would have immediately crumbled and likely would have entered the cabin while I was doing 70 mph on the freeway.”

After she left the freeway, McCuen “drove surface streets to the Tesla Service Center in Santa Ana.” When she got there, the service department initially refused to replace the window under warranty. Luckily and ironically, Teslacam came to the rescue.

“The Service Center was quick to assume that something hit the window. Then when I showed them the videos and they could see nothing did in fact hit the window, they turned their blame to the tint. They took no responsibility for the window spontaneously shattering. I had to become very vocal for them to agree to cover it under warranty. It was an awful overall experience.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, McCuen decided she would not leave the Service Center without getting her car fixed.

“The Tesla Service Center replaced the window and the regulator the same day, but only because I pressured them to. They are still only offering Uber vouchers and I live 40 miles away from the Service Center. I was not comfortable being in a car with someone that long while COVID-19 is still pretty bad in our area. I showed up there at about 8:50 AM and they told me it would be about 2 hours to replace the window. I ended up sitting there until 1:30 PM.”

McCuen already had a history with the Santa Ana Service Center.

“I have been there three times now. All three times were bad experiences. After the second time, my husband and I said we would never go there again. Still, this incident happened a few miles from there so they were the closest location to get to safely. There was still broken glass in the window sill even after most of it fell out.”

Her prior visits to the Service Center were due to a persistent humming noise that still has not sorted out. McCuen replaced the rubber window trim close to the A-pillar. That solved the issue for some days, but the problem came back.

“I still have the issue to this day and I have no confidence in taking it back to them to get rid of it. I just turn up my music as loud as I can to drown out the noise. It's really sad because, overall, I love my car, but the service side of Tesla has been a disappointment. They have no idea how to properly treat a customer at that location. Not once in this last interaction with them did anyone ask if I was okay or apologized for what I experienced. They were more focused on trying to point the blame anywhere but on themselves for the window shattering.”

Did they save the extra cost with less window adhesive on each car?

yea.. thats why I've been holding off at the moment on getting a Model 3.

I'm considering one to replace my 3G TL. Its turning 14 this year. The seats are ripped, some of the trim is fading and cracked. Also getting like 15mpg commuting to work pre-pandemic is the suck.

Nah. It’s extremely local driving for me when I commute to the train station.

since I’m now driving in to my office in SF to work, I get like 28ish MPG.

Wish I could get 28mpg.
For being a 4cyl, the Malibu really doesn't sip fuel.

^ It's also AWD & has probably double the power figures on the Malibu. Probably does >30mpg on the highway, too.
I'm averaging 21.9mpg in the Malibu, based on 13 tanks so far on fuelly.... My average in the Merc was 27mpg, with a best of 33.
