Well, the RL usually gets high ranking in comparison tests.
2nd place in C&D: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...omparison_test
1st place in Edmunds:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...cleId=106555#2
2nd place in Motortrend:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html
1st place in Wheels:
http://www.wheels.ca/Luxury/article/47657
Automobile and R&T don't have rankings.
IMO, and as discussed before many many times, its lack of drivetrain choices, lack of options, and conservative styling are the main reasons why it failed in sales. Really, for that kind of money, you get a lot of car in the RL, which can be confirmed by what most reviewers, the only problem is, not everyone needs all those features.
Also, when I come to think about it, the RL isn't that heavy for what it is. CTS is as heavy now. Even compact Lancer Evo X is at 3600lbs.

Also as discussed before many many times, the complete RL package (presented to the buyers) doesn't work no matter how many 1st places it can win. If people don't want the car, it loses, PERIOD.
No one car is perfect, even with the top-selling Accord's and Camry's. But the overall package has to work, and bargain selling price will ALWAYS compensate for any non-major deficiencies.
The RL can lack drivetrain choices, can lack option choices, and can have conservative styling, but it has to be priced at around the $40K Genesis pricing, not at the current over-inflated $50K. Give the current RL a $10K rebate, and it will sell like hotcakes.
In terms of curb weight, the AWD RL is ~4000 lbs with 290hp and 256lb-ft.
The agile '08 AWD EVO X is ~3350 lbs with 295hp and 300lb-ft. It will run rings around the RL.
The '07 CTS is ~3500 lbs, and the '08 CTS ~3900 lbs. Even though on the heavy side, Cadillac has available the 400-550hp CTS-V to more than compensate the weight.
What does the RL has ??

That's basically what I just said...you can say it's under-performing in terms of sales, but that's all.
You missed my point regarding the weight. My point was, for the size of the RL, plus all of its features and stuff, it weighs 3558lbs, ~3360lbs is the STi, not Evo X. That's one of the reasons why in the straight line it's slower than the STi. And the Evo X is only a compact 4 door sports sedan that has nothing to do with luxury. And obviously it will urn rings around the RL because the Evo is designed to be fast.
Again, you missed my point, my point was, sure 4000lbs is a lot, but for the size of RL, and its features and AWD system, it's not overweight FOR WHAT IS HAS.

Not only that, if you put a Lexus badge, or BMW badge, or Mercedes badge on the RL, you don't have to decrease the price and it will sell like hotcakes too.

Hyundai said the Genesis V6 will have EPA fuel economy ratings of 18 city/27 highway, while the Genesis V8 is rated at 17 city/25 highway.

With Genesis's ~$40K pricing, high power V8 engine, RWD chassis, Lexicon premium stereo option, and overall MB copycat styling, isn't it a "deja vu" of the Lexus LS400 some 18 years ago, except that Lexus was a brand new name plate then.

Yea, of course, the Genesis is definitely an awesome car for the money. I'd say it's better than the LS400 back then in terms of bang for the buck. And we also don't have to worry about the reliability as Hyundai is very good in that category.

I'm sure there'll be a line, I'm just not sure how long it will be...
It's kinda porky at 3400lbs (for the I4), so as others have mentioned, it's not going to be the ultimate drift car...

Thats same with Hyundai. Of course in the beginning, just like any new company, they initially produced poor cars in 70's. However, as evidence and facts show, they are producing great cars like
Veracruze (beat Lexus 350)
proof
Hyundai Elantra (Consumer Reports, best small sedan of 2008)
Hyundai Santa fe (Consumer Reports, Best mid-size SUV of 2008)
proof
and of course, best selling Sonata.
Over time, the facts and proof will turn Hyundai image to positive.
We accuse BMW, Audi fanboys of being Brand-whores, hating on Hyundai cause of false and ignorant stigma is being just like them......

If there is a line, I'd mainly be in it just to get a test drive in. Gotta see if its fun to drive or not. Hopefully the salesperson would just trade my driver's license for the keys, then I can just drive the snot out of it to find out what its really like. And if its truly based off the new Evo's engine then I'll be even more convinced.

Ultimately the main obstacle for me would not be brand. In fact I would take some sort of pleasure in driving something good that everyone else thought was "just a Hyundai". The biggest problem is that Hyundais have pretty crappy resale value. For a brand new vehicle in the first year I'm not sure I want to marry that thing for 5+ years.
I could go into the mistake of selling a bunch of cars to rental fleets but I think everyone knows that story.
If it's as good as a G37, then it's not an issue. But right now I wouldn't be making any statements about buying one due to the uncertainty of how good the car is.

I've loved the idea of this car ever since it was a rumor, but somehow it just doesn't speak to me anymore. Something about the styling just seems a little off. The altezza'ish tail lamps, that stupid dip in the rear quarter windows, the whole front fascia...kinda screams immature boy racer to me, and I really don't see the clear family resemblence to the tastfully styled sedan it shares names with. I was hoping for a more serious looking car wearing an angry scowl and a flying "T" on the hood, or something.
