Damn, finally the news I've been waiting for all these years. Hope the Type R is priced under $35k.

I have a feeling this is Honda being overly optimistic.

Production won't be anywhere near that.

I'm more or less convinced Honda North America didn't know what to do with Acura, and now Acura management doesn't know what to do with Acura.

So this means we'll get the next gen Type-R and not the one that was just premiered, correct?

Hmm perhaps...but in the past, their production vehicles are pretty close to concept models in terms of proportion and major details. The only things that are changed would be big @$$ wheels, aero kit, and may be the LED lights? This is at least true for the 8th and 9th gen Civic?

I think the Type R that we are getting will be based on this new platform. The Type R that was premiered is using the existing platform. My understanding is that this new platform will be shared by the Civic, Accord, and other Acura models, and can take SH-AWD.

The 'current' Type R is based on the European Civic which is a different car.

The Type R we get is based upon this new, US-designed Civic which will be the ONLY Civic worldwide. No more regional platforms for Accord and Civic.

Notice the new NSX style exhaust. Lots of design elements of the NSX there. Wonder if Michelle had anything to do with that too...

They need to start much higher up with the firing There are TOO many decision makers over the years that have lead them to where they are today that need to go. They need fresh ideas and people there.

I like that Civic design. But then again, I like the RLX design too, so I'm just weird that way.

Slight bad news for anyone actually interested in the Type R:

2017 2018 Civic Type R likely (not earlier) | 2016+ Honda Civic Forum (10th gen) - Type R, Si

most of us are even shocked that it is coming at all.

Though, i am still not convinced that the US version is a real type R, That is if we are even getting any Type R.

Gives them plenty of time to change their minds and not offer it in the U.S.

Also gives the competition time to up their ante.

I'm not surprised it's not coming immediately after the new body Civic is released. It's no different than what they did with the original Integra Type R, or the 2G and 3G TL-S, amongst others.

I'm hoping it's like the integra, but part of me is thinking it will be like an accord. Looks like an accord.

I was thinking about the same, that it looks like an Accord... but something also reminds me of a 2-door Hyundai Genesis at the rear window profile. Maybe the curve over the rear wheel.

They don't have a Type R Coupe even in the UK. Hope they make one for this upcoming generation, just like that.
