We all know that dual exhaust on most of the cars are more for the looks since it really does not offer anything more.
So this is the part i don't understand. Why did honda decide to offer an more aggressive dual exhaust look on a 4 banger (when we know it is absolutely not necessary) but decided not to show it? It is contradicting.

Maybe they are saving the showy exhausts for the Si and Type R? Or maybe the rear bumpers with exhaust ports just weren't ready yet.

It could be cost prohibitive to build two different exhaust systems.
A friend of mine had a base model '14 Mazda3. It also had hidden dual exhaust tips. Maybe because it's cheaper to just add shiny tips and a different rear bumper for the higher trim levels.

Whatever the reason for hiding the exhaust tips is, it's a dumb one.

That decision does not make it any better. If there is even such package.

Test drove a new 16 1.5T EXL/Navi today since I was bored.
The interior is gorgeous. The power is nice, and there is a decent amount of interior space compared to my '13. The black stripe on the leather seats has a carbon fiber look to it as well. Fit and finish was great.
You seem to sit lower in the car and the center console is huge, and the starter button pulses like the Jags do until you start it.
The exterior takes some getting used to, but I think I like it.. They just need to do something with the wheels

On the contrary, the "vaporware NSX" wheels look really cool.

To be fair, all the OEM wheels are usually just meh, especially the economy cars.

I just saw both the coupe and sedan at the LA Auto show.
I have to admit..the coupe, which looks bulbous and crappy in pics looks pretty decent in person.
BUT the sedan is really impressive in person. It has nice bold look, with a raking back. The interior is a real step up, especially compared to the abortion of an interior from the last gen civic.
Even I have to admit, that Honda seems to have nailed this one. Its about damn time they starting doing things right again. They still have a long way to go in my eyes. But this is definitely a step in the right direction.

i guess your "make sense" is different from mine. I don't have kids, so my passengers are lucky there are actually backseat for them to sit.
But I just can't buy ugly regardless how much sense it makes.

I feel the need...
Acura needs to move quickly to add content and performance to their line up NOW. Crikey, you can now buy a 400hp MKZ with torque vectoring AWD.

And the 2017 Infinity Qq60 is rumored to be pushing at least 400hp...
Infinity said they maxed out the potential of their VQ engines and that they were really only getting more power out of them by upping the displacement. So now they are dropping the displacement and adding two turbos
Wonder how long Honda/Acura will keep pushing that 15 year old J-series... 290HP for life!!!

Jeff at TOV just did some acceleration runs and got 0-60mph in 6.5s and 1/4 mile in 14.9@97mph. 60' is a bit sluggish though at 2.5s. According to his Vbox, the car put down 164-166whp (based on above acceleration figures and a measured curb weight of 2900lb).
I guess that's pretty good for a regular Civic with a CVT!

Compared to the guys dumping thousands into their 1G RDXs, to get 14.5@101mph, yeah, I'd say that's pretty impressive!

Anyways, it's interesting that Infiniti thinks the VQ is maxed out. I mean, they did make the VQ25DET and VQ30DET which were turbocharged. I wonder what the reasons were for not making something like a VQ37VHRTT - basically the Q50/G37 engine with twin turbo. They also have the GTR's VR38DETT engine which is based on the VQ engine.
I'd imagine getting more power isn't much of an issue for the VQ. May be they couldn't get the emissions low enough and/or the fuel economy good enough?

Probably in 2 years...because the VQ came out in 1994, while the J came out in 1996!

The other side of the coin is that they just gave potential ILX buyers one less reason to "upgrade" at the Acura store.

regardless what Nissan/Infiniti claimed the mpg is, it is almost always bad.
Adding 2 more turbos to it will just make it worse in reality.
sometimes it is not about the needs, it is just because it is time. That is how luxury market should be. Does BMW need a new engine for every new Gen M3? No... but because... they can. That is a huge selling point. People always want something new and something better. The only difference is some people can afford it and some can't.

I was thinking.. Getting a Civic with Nav is pointless. With Apple Car Play and Android Auto, you basically mirror your phone onto the display audio screen.
23.7k for a regular Civic EX-L (non sensing/non navi) seems like a great price. The only major things lacking from EX-L that the Touring has is the full LED headlights, heated rear seats, the 450 watt stereo, and the sensing package.
Just based on seat time, and parking the '16 next to mine, I think this new gen is going to be a fantastic value. The more I look at it, the more I like them.

i guess some people just like sleepers! mid 13's is pretty much as fast as a Macan S or SQ5...while having that bland, pedestrian look. I wouldn't mind if my RDX is that fast....
There are 2 big issues with all all VQs. MPG and Roughness at high RPM.

And also heard the GT-R has really bad gas mileage.
As for those engines found in the M3, I think it's a pretty big difference lol...it went from NA I6 to NA V8, and now to I6 turbo.....the VQ is strictly a V6 engine...

This should be no surprise. It's a big ass V6, with two turbos, pushing a heavy car with AWD. You definitely don't buy a GTR for fuel economy. Look at the STi. Those can be gas pigs too. AWD and high boost are terrible for fuel economy.
A friend of mine has a '11 STi, completely stock, and at times he's only getting 300km on a 65L gas tank. That's like 190 miles on a full tank

I'd think that engine has some potential, but since it's only being used on one vehicle, and it's a near luxury CUV, there's little aftermarket support for it. It it's offered in a Civic Si or something, I'd think there would have been more support, for instance.
