No, I'm saying I'm curious what the torque will be. I bet this bitch will be at peak torque by 2000rpm at the very latest.
Even if 200hp... If they can pull 180lbft... This thing will be fuuuuuuun.
Im curious to see how conservative Honda will be with this thing. 200lbft should be a walk in the park... But I doubt they'd give us that much.

Man, so the rumors were true - 1.5T. Shame it's not the detuned 2.0T.
I heard it will be around 220hp/190lbft. Pretty nice for a car that is about 2850lb with a 6MT and LSD that will be abount $24-$25k.
But the GTI is already offering 210 and 220hp..and the refresh is coming very soon, with 220-247hp I believe. And 1.5T tuning potential will never match 2.0T.
I guess the main advantage will be price?
Oh, it's interesting to see that it has adaptive suspension. Not sure if any other competitors have it.

Not sure if my observation is true or not, but the displacement has a lot to do with how bad the turbo lag is vs. Output.
Anyone knows?

Dude, this is conservative Honda... You expect way too much of them.

One thing for certain is that the more power you want, the bigger the turbo you'll need, the more exhaust gases you need to spin the turbo, the more potential for turbo lag if you go too far in terms of power.
200-220hp should still be fine in terms of turbo lag for the 1.5T

Unveiling of Sporty Honda Civic Si Prototype Completes 10th Generation Civic Line-up - Honda News
Unveiling of Sporty Honda Civic Si Prototype Completes 10th Generation Civic Line-up
Nov 15, 2016
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Honda Civic Si Prototype made its global debut today, giving Honda enthusiasts a good look at the design and performance direction for the 2017 Civic Si Coupe and Si Sedan, both launching next year. The Civic Si Prototype will be on display at the 2016 Los Angeles International Auto Show where it will be joined by its Civic Sedan, Coupe and Hatchback siblings, plus the radical Civic Type-R Prototype, providing the first public opportunity to see all five Civic variants. This will also be the first time the Type-R interior will be shown.
The shimmering Rallye Red Pearl Civic Si Prototype features a full Factory Performance (HFP) aero kit, including front and rear splitters and rear spoiler, plus a center-mounted polygonal exhaust finisher and 19-inch 235/35Y high-performance tires mounted on HFP 19 x 8J 10-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels.
The 2017 Civic Si Coupe and Si Sedan will be powered by a high-performance, high-torque 1.5-liter, directed-injected and turbocharged DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engine with dual variable cam timing (dual VTC) mated to a short-shifting 6-speed manual transmission. Additional performance upgrades for the Si variants will include a new active damper system, active steering system, limited-slip differential and available high-performance tires.
"With the new Honda Civic Si, we're injecting even more sporty goodness into our 10th-generation Civic lineup," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of Honda. "This will be, hands down, the fastest, best-handling Si we've ever offered to our customers."
The Civic Si Prototype interior closely previews the production model and features Si-exclusive front sport seats with red stitching, including stitched Si logos. The red sport stitching carries through to the doors, steering wheel and leather shift boot with aluminum shift knob. The Si Prototype interior also features a red driver's TFT meter and audio system illumination, aluminum sport pedals and Dry Metal Carbon instrument panel trim.
The Civic Si Coupe and Si Sedan will launch next year as the latest additions to the 10th-generation Honda Civic lineup, joining the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe and just-launched Civic Hatchback. The rollout of the 10th-gen Civic lineup will be completed with the launch of the new track-ready Civic Type-R next year.
The 2016 Civic Sedan was named North American Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show in January. Civic is the best-selling car with individual American car buyers in 2016 and is on track to post the highest U.S. sales in its 44-year history, with sales up 11.7 percent to 310,142 units through the end of October. The previous U.S. sales record for Civic of 339,289 units was set in 2008.

My guess is that in stock form, even if its output isn't as high as others, it will be fast enough against the competitors since it's lighter.
For tuning potential, it doesn't look like it will compete though.
So, hopefully the handling will be very good to make up for it.

The back end looks gross, but only because of that spoiler. Hopefully it's an add-on and doesn't come standard.
otherwise, it's a cool car.

My issue with the seats is look how thick they are... They could gain at least an inch of leg room in the back if they weren't so thick.

That interior is very nice. A bit disappointed in the 1.5 considering the Focus ST makes 250 hp, and I doubt the Si will have the tuning potential that the 2.0 GTI and St have, but hopefully the adaptive steering makes up for it. Plus the St and base GTI don't have LSDs which this does standard.
That car in the photos has every HFP add on. Those wheels aren't standard, and I think the front lip isn't standard but I'm not sure on that. The spoiler could be a HFP add on aswell.

considering this is a prototype, all that stuff could be removed.

Looks good. But that exhaust tip tho...... but at this point, as long as it has an exhaust tip.
Also i am not sure how practical is to have the E brake "button" vs. the traditional E brake lever....

you're just paper racing now. Yeah the ST might have 250hp, but it's 0-60 times in stock form aren't that great.
Id gladly take the 1.5T with LSD over a 2.0T with no LSD. An LSD is an expensive mod, and the 1.5T is already claiming to be faster than the outgoing k24 powered Si.
plus, being turbo now, I bet for 3k you'll be able to unlock another 40hp. Fuck yeah. This would make for a fun daily driver.
i think Justn is right... Most of that shit will be add ons.

^ Try $600. $3k is too much for an FI engine to get 30hp nowadays.

I was thinking an exhaust, and likely Hondata + tune.
remember, tiny engine. Gotta keep the gains in check.

The 2015 Si weighs 3002lbs... Think they'll be able to shave that much weight off it?

We will see.
The current Civic EX Turbo Coupe with CVT is at 2889lb. I'm thinking the Si will be around the same. Both will have the same engine but with different tuning, with the 6MT probably a bit lighter, but that weight is added back with larger wheels, beefier suspension, chassis, etc. Feature-wise, I don't think the Si is that well equipped (i.e. no LED headlights).

Although the LED lights look cool, they're no better than HIDs. I remember reading a little while ago that their output wasn't as good and there were some glare issues. Not sure how true that is.
Either way, personally, I'd just throw an HID kit into the projectors and call it a day. To me, the LED lights are just a marketing gimmick. They're expensive and don't seem to add much of anything besides looks.
If that is the case, I'm ok without them.

But LED does have its advantages: the looks at day or at night time. the brightness on the ground (you can see much better where the light shines, especially in rainy days) <--- the problem with that is you can't make it see very far or wide without blinding everyone due to the nature of LED itself.

^^^^^ Agree.
In terms of light output, the Jewel-Eye LED headlights on my 3G MDX is noticeable better than the HID headlights on my 4G TL.

I thought they were stupid at first (just like in the other thread about car displays on top of the dashboard) but after using them, they make a lot of sense. Not like I'm drifting or anything

Ya that's my first thought too....but they look pretty comfy though.
Ya, as tacobello said, the Focus ST looks fast on paper with 250hp, but it's around 3250lb (Si should be around 2850lb). And I believe Ford has a limiter which reduces engine output for 1st and 2nd gear. So unless you are speeding, you probably won't feel the added power. Lastly, I've heard people saying the ST is very sensitive to driving conditions, fuel, and the weather. The ECU would reduce engine output whenever the variables are not optimal. This probably explains why the ST doesn't perform as well as one might think.

To be honest, the 4g projectors arent that good The 3g were far superior to them. From what i have noticed the Jewel-Eyes have a lot of foreground but that isnt good for the eyes and distance viewing.

The current 1.5T in the civic makes 174hp and 162ftlb at 16.5psi.
I imagine the new Si is being put forth as competition for the Focus ST, which runs 252hp and 270ftlb at 19.5psi.
I really don't see Honda boosting past 20psi on the civic platform as it is now. I also don't imagine they are changing to a different turbo.
That being said, I think the Si will end up being around 200-210hp and 200-210ftlb. Not a huge gain in power, but, how much can they realistically gain from 3.0-3.5psi additional boost?
Now everyone is probably like "awww shit, that sucks, the Focus ST puts out over 250hp and even more torque!". Yes, but Ford decided that power isn't usable and limits it in first and second gears. While the Si will have less power, it will be more usable in the first two gears. As mentioned, the car will also be lighter, as the ST comes in at a stout 32xx pounds. Overall, I think the Si will be the better car to drive. Honda has NEVER been known for high horsepower cars. They've ALWAYS been known for safely and reliably maxing out small engines. This will undoubtedly be no different, me thinks.

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Miata. That's why I sold mine. And bought a sucky, 50 year old ricer, rainbow car
3200 pounds is stout for a 4 cylinder car.
