If it's motor trend, they'll talk about how the new Chevy Aveo, with upgraded tires, gives the NSX a run for its money and is the better overall car of the two.

Sweet!!

That means with my Michelin Pilot Super Sports (standard equipment on several Ferraris and BMW M's) I can do laps around a McLaren P1!!

Time to upgrade my side view mirrors...

You know what, check out the S660 review by Motor Trend:
2016 Honda S660 Roadster - First Drive Review - Motor Trend

Even though it's a S660 review, the first paragraph talks about the new NSX.

My long-awaited opportunity to drive Honda's all-new second-generation Acura NSX will finally come later this year. And what an opportunity it should be. Blending the exotic, low-slung looks of a mid-engine Audi R8, the power and all-wheel traction of a twin-turbo Nissan GT-R, and the hybrid electric assist of a seven-figure Porsche 918, the NSX reads like a technological tour de force that, in the footsteps of its predecessor, puts sports car makers from Europe and America on high alert. Without a doubt, the NSX promises the kind of silly stats we've come to expect from near-600-hp all-wheel-drive supercars: 0-60 mph in under 3.0 seconds, a quarter mile in the 11s, and a Nürburgring Nordschleife jaunt in the low 7-minute range. OMG impressive.
That sure made the NSX sounds very extremely impressive without even driving it. But like you are saying, is the NSX really bringing anything new to the market?

If we use the same logic as the person that wrote the CTR review, we can probably say something like this:

-R8 has that exotic, low slung look
-GT-R has AWD and twin turbo
-918/P1/LaFerrari all have hybrid powertrain
-Torque vectoring isn't new
-NSX isn't the cheapest or the best bang for the buck
-NSX won't be the first one to do low 7-min lap at the Ring

So ya, a lot of it is down to whether the glass is half empty or half full....

I just want Honda to re-release the S2K.

As much as I love this new CTR, I won't buy a FWD car again.

5th Gen Malibu was introduced in 1997 while Accord and Camry were still the old models.

If i recall correctly, MT car of the year is usually the new model/gen.

as much as i dislike domestic cars from that era, i would take Malibu over ANY Camry anyday.

Man, Ford released the numbers today for FoRS..

Why can't Honda be like Ford, moving forward with projects at a reasonable rate? LOL

Watch Honda build the 306-hp Civic Type R engine?right here in America | Autoweek

Excited about Honda’s new foray into forced induction? This video gives us a look at the build process for the automaker’s 2.0-liter VTEC turbocharged engine. The engine, bound for the 2015 Civic Type R hatch, will be built here in the United States alongside a 1.5-liter I4 at the Anna Ohio Engine Plant. It will then be shipped to Europe, where it will be installed in the hot hatch.

The new turbocharged engine produces 306 hp and 295 lb-ft, plenty of motivation to help the Civic hotfoot around the countryside. The foreign countryside, that is. Again, this engine is bound for a Euro-market car. We’re excited to learn the details and see it made here in America anyway, since the Civic Type R will be coming to our shores relatively soon.

Our version of the Type R will be based on the next-generation Civic. We expect it to hit U.S. dealers sometime in the next few years, possibly 2017.The specifics of that car haven’t been released yet, but since it’s coming to the U.S. and we always love a good hot-hatch, we’ll certainly keep you up to date.

Yup. No longer care.

Might as well change the thread title also- the only thing confirmed for 2015 is north america not getting the Type R.

Yet again, I have lost any faith in Honda. I must be a masochist for still following.

So maybe I'm a bit dense and others already know this, but I'm suspecting the reason we aren't getting the Type R until 2017/18 is because we will be getting the coupe version of the car. Which sucks. Why can't we get a nice hatchback again? If watching ford is any indication, the ST (both variants) seems to be selling quite well for the company. Because people want hatchbacks.

Otherwise I can't understand why we have to wait 2-3 years to get a car that will be already selling all over the rest of the world. Pretty sure Europe has more stringent emission regulations than NA, so I don't see that being the problem. Any thoughts?

Also, since the engine is being built here and shipped to England for assembly with the rest of the car, we likely won't be getting Type Rs from there. Think of the additional taxes consumers would have to pay to have Honda import a car from Europe, as opposed to building it in Ohio, or Canada. It doesn't seem to make sense, but it guess stranger things have happened...

I understand if a certain model is only built in another part of the world and shipped to NA, but we are building the civic in NA already.

not sure if you're not reading the articles because canada.....fucking Tacobella, please keep up....

but, because the Euro type-r hatchback is designed in Europe and therefore does not adhere to U.S. safety regulations....

so, they are building an all new civic just for US, with an ALL new engine, just for us.

c'mon man, this was in the article that came out fucking 3 months ago...keep up.

Oh for FFS...

But yes, so it looks like we are getting the coupe version then. Which sucks.

The lower trims are getting an all new engine, but I doubt the Type R is. It'll likely make use of that 2.0T being built locally

Post Production Underway in UK

From here: Honda Civic Type R Production Gets Underway In U.K.

Production of Honda’s new Civic Type R hot hatch is finally underway at the Honda plant in Swindon, England. The plant is the global hub for the Civic Hatchback, meaning it will also be supplying the United States with cars once the new Civic range goes on sale here in the fall. Other Civic bodystyles like the sedan and coupe will be sourced locally.

The Type R is set to join another generation of the Si in the new Civic’s performance line, but the two cars will share very little in common. The Type R has been developed almost exclusively with the track in mind and has even spawned a racing variant. The car also happens to hold the Nürburgring lap record for a front-wheel-drive car.

What makes it so impressive is its combination of a sophisticated chassis setup and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with VTEC variable timing. The engine develops as much as 305 horsepower, and drive goes exclusively to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Honda quotes a 0-62 mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 167 mph.

Given the performance, the Type R’s key competitors will be the Ford Focus RS, Subaru WRX STI and Volkswagen Golf R. However, the Honda is unique in that it sticks with front-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive. To combat this shortcoming, engineers have developed what’s known as the Dual Axis Strut Front Suspension, said to help reduce torque steer by 50 percent compared to the standard Civic’s suspension setup.

Type R specs and pricing for the U.S. will be announced closer to the market launch of the new Civic range in the fall.

I'm so confused. So we are getting it in 2015/16 now? Wtfbbq.

Or are they releasing the 2017/18 specs in the fall of 2015? If that is the case, boo-urns. Boo-urns.

pricing and specs to be announced.....NOT TO GO ON SALE....

"hey guise, the 2017/2018 U.S. type-r will have this much power and cost this much"

in typical honda fashion; no specs til it actually comes out.

Right... And i highly doubt Honda will be releasing "pricing info" for a car being sold in the US that won't be showing up for three years. Just saying.

I sincerely hope Honda isn't treating a civic in the same manner they are treating the NSX. If that is the case, I'm going to burn my car to the ground in the parking lot right now and buying a VW...
