Reading the comments on Jalopnik is ridiculous. Everyone is bitching about the 5.7s 0-60 time... When has ANY Type R ever been about 0-60 times?

They were purpose built track monsters and that's exactly where this new iteration of the CTR will shine, especially with Honda's claims of it being the fasted FWD car aroun the ring.

Only street racing dummies care about 0-60, straight acceleration time. "Look at me, bro! Look how fast my STi is!" Great. Now take it to the track where it's supposed to go.

I'm truly excited for this car, in a way I haven't been excited about Honda/Acura in a long time.

I'm still holding my breath that this car will make it here. I really hope Honda brings it over, to help their image in North America. There is a true desire for this car to sell here.

I will be very dissapoint if not.

I am interested to know how it did at the Nurburgring.

There's still no news on this coming to NA. The CTR is based on the European Civic, I really doubt it will come here. If we do get a Civic Type R, I suspect it will be based on the next American Civic?

But nothing that hte TYpe R is finally coming.

Road and Track and Motortrend said the CTR wasn't coming here awhile back. I'm 99.999% sure it isn't coming. Only evidence that suggests otherwise is the fact that Honda was testing one here awhile ago.

The hot hatch/sport compact market is, well, hot these days in North America. We've got the GTI, Golf R, Focus ST and soon the RS, the WRX, STi, BRZ, FRS, etc, etc. there's so many different versions of these sport compacts around these days, honda can't simply keep saying there is no market here. Every other manufacturer is apparently finding a market here.

If the Type R comes, I WILL be buying one. I've always dreamt of having my own Type R but by the time I could afford one, the ITR was already much too old for my liking.

Since the old CEO is gone, maybe Honda will get their shit together and bring it over here.

Hopefully they don't mess it up too much when they do decide to bring it to the States. Honda always pull that crap, vanillafying the perfectly fine car in the Europe. I'm sure there are countless regulations that they have to meet in the States that's different from Europe or Japan, but other manufacturers are doing it just fine.

There's no reason why Honda can't do the same. Hope they do bring the car here! More options for us enthusiasts the better!

Super awesome lap time at the Ring. It was done by a pro driver during the testing stage last May. The production one will obviously have a different time but, regardless, this is a super awesome time! Pretty much saying eff you to the haters who are mocking the useless 0-60 time.

If the car comes to the States without not too many changes, expect it to be priced above $35K.

I'll take that engine de-tuned to 250HP or so in a Civic Si with the DCT. As long as its nicer Civic than what we have today of course.

To slap you all in your e-faces, Honda will cancel this car in the last minute stipulating that there's too much snow out in the East Coast or Oprah sneezed or something.

You'll see.

You can't compare a NA 210hp engine, to even a turbo'd 210hp engine. The turbo will have way more torque throughout the range, especially down low.

Not sure what you're suggesting?

That we already have that in the current Si, TLX and ILX?

I am suggesting that is what we will get in the next Si, which is a little bit more realistic than a turbo Si.

If anything i would expect Acura to get the first turbo engine and maybe a few years later it will get to Honda.

You're probably right. And that's a bit disappointing. Not really interested in a ILX or TLX. But that's just me.

a lot of us aren't.

Even the new ILX still using the K24 with 8 DCT..

If Acura/Honda has any common sense left, they would put the first turbo 300hp engine in TLX (Aspec, or type S), then ILX Type S and maybe CTR at the same time.

BUt what do i know.. so they might just put it in the new Ridgeline

I can understand the "no market" argument if the car isn't made or available anywhere else.

But the CTR is in full production form now. I'd think modifying a car to be sold legally in North America isn't going to be super expensive. If Honda is afraid of no market here, then they can just make it a limited production model. At least it's available that way.

With that said, 7:50 is really fast. Here are some comparison numbers:

Lamborghini Murcielago 7:50
Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series 7:51
Ford GT 7:52
Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 7:52
BMW M4 7:52
BMW M5 Competition Package (F10) 7:54
Ferrari F430 7:55
VW Golf R (2015) 8:14
BMW 1 Series M Coupe 8:15
Ford Focus ST 2012 8:39

Yeah, but haters are gonna say it still sucks because it's not RWD/AWD, or that the 0-60 times aren't fast enough

Those are some seriously fast track times. Guys are saying the CTR should be compared to the Focus ST- looks like it destroyed it by 49 seconds!

If you are going to have this type of attitude, nobody's going to take you seriously.

The reason why a lot of people are saying that they would prefer RWD/AWD than FWD is the driving feel. You can't deny the fact that RWD/AWD cars will give you a better driving experience than FWD cars will regardless of the lap time or any other performance figures.

That's not hating.

We all know the older ITR or Civic hatches can be built to be super fucking fast. That's not a secret. I freaking love the older ITRs. I personally love this new CTRs. But the general consensus is that RWD/AWD are more "fun" to drive.

It's great that you love the FWD platform so much and you can easily say that "to each his own" since it's a subjective matter at the end of the day. But the car enthusiasts generally prefer RWD/AWD cars purely because it's more "fun."

The suede is very thin, and the bolster leather is too obvious a fake. I know it's a cheap car, but the FR-S cloth feels nicer and the seat more comfortable.

As for the production Type R, I personally think it looks like balls. Too much going on, and they skipped so many of the nice touches in the concept. I suspect they ran out of budget for the looks.

7:50 is a great time if true; GM managed 7:59 for both the C6 Z51 Cougar-Spec as well as outgoing CTS-V, and both of those cars were known for punching above their pricetag..

Uhh no. The Accord is fast but it has traction issues, it's not doing 0-60 in 5 seconds, that's absurd. The CTR has specifically designed suspension and axles to mitigate hop and torque-steer.

Good point man. May be I read it wrong, but I think Taco's talking about people who think FWD cars can't get good lap times, or people who think the CTR will be closer to the Focus ST/Golf GTI in terms of performance rather than the likes of Focus RS/WRX STi/Golf R?

See, that's the thing, I like more Hondas than you (Accord, Fit, CR-V, HR-V, and Pilot, CTR) but I don't go out of my way to say dumb things like the FT-1 looks riced out and then also say a freaking Civic with a time attack wheels, side vents and a STI spoiler looks fantastic.
