My first Avatar....
Wow. The interior looks complicated. Lots of stuff there.

i think one of their interior criticisms from the 08 was that all the vital controls were too bunched together, and for the unfamiliar could be a real headache to navigate if not looking at the center stack, it looks like they tried to simplify the center by spliting it into discount groups, i think it looks pretty nice, and if the drivetrain is up to snuff, i think it will be getting some pretty favorable reviews/first impressions too

Although I agree with exko and feel that the dash layout lacks some flow, I actually like it.
When the lease is up on my 12 Accord, I'll check out 15 model and see if it compels me enough to pull the trigger. (hopefully the V6 will still have a geared tranny

I like the interior with a couple expceptions
- shiny temp up/down buttons for the climate control
- shiny trim around center display/vents
other than that it's well executed. Not too cluttered and separation from the audio/infotaintment to the climate control, the instrument cluster looks very similar to the new CRV. Wow, four displays!

Either way, in the end I think Honda has a winner on their hands.

I looked again, and you are right, there doesnt seem to be a cohesive theme or texture to the buttons. Maybe its better without the blurrycam, but im excited too!
#3088
The centerstack looks like a cascading button waterfall. I'll have to check it out in person. Seems pretty good otherwise. They'll still sell a few billion of 'em.

There was nothing similar btwn that Sonata and the Accord except for having rectangular-shaped taillights that stretched across the most of the rear (the Sonata's tapered one way while the Accord's tapered the other way).
Plenty of cars before that had rectangular-shaped taillights that stretched across the most of the rear - from an earlier Camry to earlier various GM and Ford models.
Hyundai copied from Toyota. which was using these oversize back lights on on Japan Domestic models.. Hyundai learn all that heavy chrome plated grills. from Toyota. Honda used smaller lights & less chrome. See 2G RL, Honda Inspire, 1G & 2G Euro Accord.
![](http://www.cars-directory.net/pics/toyota/premio/2008/toyota_premio_a1274169601b3646550_2_orig.jpg)
There are numerous cars that have used the white on top of red pattern for the taillights.
The difference is that the Hyundai's tailights rise up as it goes towards the sides (from the rear) and taper down on the sides across the top - so forming an "apex" as you look from an angle where you can see the rear and side parts of the taillights.
The taillights on the Toyota, however, just go straight across at the top.
Furthermore, at the side, the taillights on the Genesis and Accord also come to a point - >.

Still, I think too much is made of the resemblance.
There have been other taillight design which have a closer resemblance.

^ Also, the domestics were heavy on the chrome for the grill way before Toyota and chrome actually only is a thin sliver of each slat on the Genesis grill.
As you can see here, only the front edges of the grill slats are finished in chrome.

Maybe its the discoloration and the low res image, but here, the dash looks overly busy.
In that angled spy shot, the dash looked much better.
I guess we'll see how it looks in the press photos and in person soon enough.

What you may see as defending, I see as correcting... correcting false beliefs, inaccuracies, etc. Some people still can't believe or accept that Hyundai/Kia have stepped up their game immensely and have become a threat to Honda/Acura... a threat Honda/Acura have finally realized they can no longer ignore.

Uh oh, I own stock in Honda.. I guess I can't have an opinion!
#3104
I dunno, I think someone unearthed evidence that they were paid/sponsored by Hyundai before, not just in this thread...
who cares, throw them on the ignore list and be done with it. I cared once, realized it was a waste of time, and now I don't waste any keystrokes on those types (except in this post)

Does that mean that those who've come out to defend Honda/Acura are paid by Honda/Acura or are somehow affiliated with them? If not, then they too must have nothing better to do, right?

On the other hand, if I'm at a Hyundai forum, and see a guy that consistently posts pro-Honda comments, I'd question if he's paid by Honda or not.

In addition, Volvo updated the design by making it "flare out" at the bottom.
![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8012/7610726570_4456ee0ff1_z.jpg)
That flare is a Volvo signature on the taillights of their sedan models as well.
I guess it's kinda different because this is after all a Honda/Acura forum....theoretically, this is where Honda/Acura enthusiasts/owners/potential owners hang out...and naturally some of them will be a bit more defensive if they see negative comments that are debatable of Honda's/Acura's. So, no, I don't think people here are paid by Honda/Acura.
I have absolutely zero problem w/ those type of criticisms b/c they are legit unlike the stuff that you know who likes to espouse over and over again.

As already noted, Volvo did that earlier w/ the 850 wagon and was the one to really popularize the D-pillar taillight (even if had been used earlier like on the Luminina APV).
In addition, Volvo updated the design by making it "flare out" at the bottom.
![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8012/7610726570_4456ee0ff1_z.jpg)
That flare is a Volvo signature on the taillights of their sedan models as well.
But there are Honda/Acura "defenders" on other auto forums and that's fine if what they do is to correct inaccurate statements (note who most of my comments are directed at).
See above; and besides, it's not like I haven't stated numerous times the negatives with Hyundai (overly busy design language, overboosted steering which leads to little feedback, bland design of the Equus, bland dash design in the Genesis and Equus, etc.).
I have absolutely zero problem w/ those type of criticisms b/c they are legit unlike the stuff that you know who likes to espouse over and over again.

I will say that I like the hybrid's taillights at least.

Who in their right mind would actually think those looked good though.

I do like what I'm seeing from these pics though, it looks clean and upscale. The center stack does seem to flow better in these pictures, but it's still a bit on the busy side.
Makes me have hope for the next TL(X?).
