^ actually, it's barely a full sized car. It squeezes into that category by the slightest...which isn't saying much, as most of the midsizers out there are approaching that size category without really spilling over from the midsize category.

the last Accord that was the same in both the Japanese and American markets was the 5th gen Accord I think 1994-1997 because Americans weren't complaining yet about the size of the Accord. Also, we weren't as fat yet

and i thought the accord couldnt get any uglier. front of a hybrid of ridgeline and hyundai sonata and rear of a saturn
goodthing the car drives solid and interior is not too disappointing although its very bland and underwhelming, i'm sure the quality is there.
too bad the exterior is one of the ugliest car sold today

From what I gather during this conversation is that the Accord gets similar MPG to its competitors despite only having a 5 speed transmission instead of 6. Maybe it is bc of the VCM?
I know the VCM has its naysayers but even if it adds just 1 MPG w/out a huge jump in price like a hybrid system, I say add it to everything. w/ everyone talking about gas prices & energy conservation, might as well since they have the technology.

Honda is doing well with this change and will continue to sell well....if one really does like this or that then you will need to go elsewhere as I may do after I compare/drive the Coupe to the new TSX and TL and the G-8 etc...

Three Wheelin'
I'm gonna reserve my comments on gas mileage till I see some real world figures. Honda's have always typically delivered better real world fuel economy, and almost always produce fewer emissions, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs against its rivals in an upcoming magazine comparo.
And I don't think VCM is a failure - it results in a noticeable boost in economy in the Oddysey, and GM is follow suit with their "cylinder deativation technology". Chrysler already uses it in some of their motors. That doesn't spell failure to me.

Keyless Fob w/ push button start should have been in this car too.
Honda has to keep up with the competition.

The thing they should have done is had a D4 not just D5-D3 and it should have been manumatic.

That said, given how crappy Honda/Acura's cars turning radius is, if they extended the wheelbase, to push the wheels further out to the corners, it would turn like a full size SUV.

If i recall correctly, the legend (and last gen RL?) had longitudinally mounted engines, as opposed to the current accord/rl/tl platform which has transversely mounted engines.
I think Audi has switched to longitudinally mounted engines (taking most of its models off the same platform as the passat) in order to move the weight distribution away from the front, and also probably saving some front overhang.
