I saw the new accord in person at honda of berkeley.
my friend lives right behind the dealership and i saw i think one of the technicians driving the car from storage to the showroom.
imo looks much better in person. although it was a quick glanced as i passed by.

unless you guys think they'll be a backorder like the altima coupes. i heard there's a waiting list until january for those things.
saw some more pics of the new accords in some car magazines during lunch. the coupe looks really sharp.
but the sedan...ehh. i read it's going to be longer and wider than the camry, which is a big looking car to me. i didn't realize the accords were going to be that big. i really don't like the rear of the new accords.

if the new Accord is as long as the Pontiac Grand Prix, i'll never get it. I had a Grand Prix GXP as a rental car when I went on a business trip, it handled like a boat and it was so hard to back out of a space because it was so long. I felt like I was driving a limo.

^ werd. As much as I like the space of a large sedan, it does become a liability in parking.

Do not worry the new Accord is not a Pontiac....the 4drs are at the dealer here. Looks good, leather seems to be better than our 04....the seats are lower as I noticed the lower height when I got in...lower than our Accord or TSX...seems lower than the TL...back seat has the added room and trunk has plenty of room...I am sure the handling/ride will be Honda ie good..
Coupes will be in in October...

^ Well that's good news. My parents might be heading to the dealer this weekend for test drives since mom's car is dead for the moment. They'd probably be getting a leftover 07 though, if anything.

Yep, I've already told them not to get a first year build. They'd be after an 07 anyway. My parents don't spend money on cars and would want a leftover.

I seriously doubt they'd go for a top of the line model. More like LX or EX, not sure 4 or V6 yet, and maybe EX-L, since they are used to leather in their cars now. But that's about it. They aren't in the spending mood now with all the expenses from the kitchen.

Go Big Blue!
Just checked out the Honda website to read the full specs on this new Accord. I agree with several comments, can't believe how close they've closed the gap with the Acura sedans. Top end Accord pretty much has every significant feature the RL has except SH-AWD, keyless start (for $15k less).
Actually, I'm stunned it DOESN"T have keyless start. This is a total redesign. I can't see any car maker in 2008 designing a car that at least doesn't have Keyless start as an option. Honda, I worry about these guys

My guess is that this feature will debut in the next gen TL.

Exactly. I have that system on my RL. Kind of feature you didn't think you'd need/want until you got it. Sounds rediculous, but it's so nice not having to reach in your pocket to unlock he door with your hands full, etc. No more misplaced keys because it always stays in your pocket.
Push button is irrelevant. I could care less about that. They should just leave the steering column starter in place and offer a keyless option that is basically just a retrofit of the same base system.
It's such an inexpensive feature to add, I can't believe it's not on every car over $25k

I know what you mean about the convenience. I have Intelligent key on my 05 Murano.
Keyless entry/start nowadays is not unlike cruise control was back in the early/mid-80s: Mainly an option on higher end cars but, soonafter available on just about every vehicle.

They need something to add to the 09, 10 etc.
Makes me sick about Honda but that seems to be their game plan these days.

Intelligent Key fucking owns. It's not like that fake BMW shit where you have to put the key into the dash, and THEN push the start button.
Intelligent key = never take the key out of your pocket, just walk up to the car, open it, and push the button and off you go.

Worse thing is owning one car with keyless and one car without. Wanna guess how many times I get in my other car and reach to start the car without the key? Doesn't make you look very bright when others are in the car

Like a dork, I have snapped the door handles on my Accord, Civic and Quest more times than I care to count, forgetting that I actually have to press my FOB button.

i saw the first 08 Accord on the road today. it was a blue 2 door. it was going the opposite way i couldn't see if it was a v-6.
y'all were talking about difference in locations of stuff.
occassionally my momma borrows my Odyseey she has a 2005 Odyseey and I got a 2000 Odyseey. on the 2005 model year they moved the shifter from in the column to on the dash like on Pilots, and CR-Vs. when she gets in my van she's in that area grabbing for the shifter. but i do the same on the column when i drive hers. so she kids me.

ohh and BMWs dont come with intelligent key standard. you have to pay for it as an option. and it works the same as the RL, mercedes etc..

But really, what are the odds someone is going to run up and jump in your keyless start car and drive off with it while you're standing next to it? Well, I actually think they are about the same odds as if you DON"T have keyless start. But in that case, the guy just sticks a knife in your face and tells you to give him your keys. Same difference, right

anyways, i went to honda of serramonte to try and check out the car in person, all they had were 2 V6 accords, one EX the other EX-L.. and they weren't available to look at yet.
then again maybe the sales guy didn't think we were serious cause we showed up in the new TL.
