^ I think it looks quite nice. Still not too sure about the grille, but I think it might grow on me. The wheels are blah, but that is easily changed as well. Overall I think it looks really good, but I am curious to see the interior.

Yeah, a $35k TSX would be a bad idea. Hopefully its just a bad assumption by the author.

I'll have to wait to see it in person before passing final judgment but it just doesn't come together for me. Looks awkward from certain angles.

Or maybe the disappointment of 201 HP is clouding my vision.

i've liked the way it looks (apart from the wheels) since pics were released. the wheels and grille are cosmetic and fairly easy to change. pricy, but easy enough if you want to change it that badly.

i want to see the interior as well.

but having to pay $4k for the technology package when before you just needed to pay $2k for the navi...

what i liked about the TSX and what was one of the top reasons i chose it was everything was standard except navi.

so to me, the idea of paying $30K+ more or less $34-35k-ish is

at that point, i'd have to wonder if you're really paying for value, which was the 1g's strong suit. once you get close to mid 30's, you have to wonder what price the new TL will be.

If they think this car will sell WELL for 35K they're sadly mistaken IMO.

^ I'm a little put off by the price as well, especially since there isn't much changed from the 1G to explain that kind of an increase. That has me a little concerned for the TL as well.

Pics, including interior, are up on Acura's site under Future Vehicles.

35K?

...not to beat a dead horse, but the car just doesn't look right...it looks like a bad mis-match of odd panels and ideas.

Might be time to see if I can sneak a TL-S out the door for around that price when the new TL is released.

so... I haven't looked carefully at Accord's interiors yet.. but don't Accord's and TSX's interiors look almost identical??

35k??? Who would get 2008 TSX for 35k when you can get 2008 TL for cheaper?? Acura must be hiding something at this point, or else they are pwned

It's alright, the features list says bluetooth is standard (no tech package needed), we get a power passenger seat, heated and tilting mirrors, and an auto/up down passenger window as well as driver's window. Phew.

That interior looks good.

The cloaked TSX at NY got all of the TL guys excited...until the cloak was removed .

It's the whole center console design. So unoriginal.

$35000 for an uglier, virtually unchanged TSX.

The interior looks pretty good to me. I feel indifferent to the exterior though.

I can honestly say that I'm scared and fear the worst for the 09 TL. The current generation was the best looking car thus far from Acura.

No, that feature is just to stream audio from a bluetooth device (iPhone) to the stereo. If you want to use the handsfree link you'll need the tech package.

So.. TSX is FWD and 2010 RL is rumored to be RWD or RWD biased SHAWD..
RDX and MDX.. not 100% sure, but aren't they FWD biased SHAWD??

Can they decide on the platforms already? Or do they like this variations all over their line-ups... Hard to tell which direction Acura is pursuing anymore

well to be fair to acura, the rumored RWD/RWD biased AWD platform for the 2010 RL is going to be new.

the 09 TSX, RDX and MDX are using older/existing platforms.

so i don't think it's that they like using different variations or can't decide on the platforms.

i take it more as they're realizing a problem and trying to move forward.

but of course this is all null and void if they don't go through with it.

The RDX and MDX SH-AWD system is not only FWD biased, they are VERY FWD biased... 90-10 F/R biased initially. At least the RL was 70-30 F/R biase. Why they decided to tune the RDX and MDX for 90-10 F/R bias, only Honda knows.

Besides, the rumors are always all over the place, but the products usually end up Honda-conservative anyway.

One thing for sure is that the '09 RL will be using a recalibrated rear-biased SH-AWD system.

Major disappointment!!!

I am giving up on Acura. They are just hopeless. $35K for the "new" TSX? To me, $35K is not bad for a decent car, but it's absolutely bad value for the TSX - why would they increase the price tag by $5000 for something so similar to the current TSX? The car is bigger, heavier and yet they still have pretty much the same engine? It appears that they are holding out on a more powerful engine for the "future". Hello? The future should be NOW, when the competition is so fierce!!! There is no future when you lose all your existing customers!!!

Now, let's also look at it this way. For $35K, you can get a decently equipped G35. You can also get a moderately equipped 328, an A4 or a moderately equipped C class. Why would anyone go with the TSX then?

Oh, and this grille is REALLY UGLY! I thought it looked OK in the previous teaser photos but then it looks MIGHTY UGLY in the press release photos and in the photos from the NY show! Look particuarly at the silver TSX - the chrome trim around the grille blends completely in and so all you see is the black inlet area at the bottom. How ugly is that?

I think that Edmunds' review today just sums it all up.... they were justifiable not kind to the TSX and I do not blame them. In fact, they were right on the money.

Edmunds.com hates the new TSX and I agree with them!

What is it?
2009 Acura TSX

What's special about it?
For such a long-awaited redesign, the 2009 Acura TSX is light on changes. The styling remains ultraconservative, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise since the same car is sold as the 2008 Honda Accord in Europe. Acura's new corporate grille adds a little flash up front, but it doesn't really change the overall look of this 2009 TSX much.

There's not much new under the hood, either. The all-aluminum 2.4-liter inline-4 remains the one and only engine. It's been upgraded with dual balance shafts and direct injection, but its horsepower rating actually drops from 205 to 201, while torque is up to 172 pound-feet. A choice of either a five-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual transmission remains and the power still goes to the front wheels.

Those specs are even more troubling because this is a larger, heavier TSX. The 2009 Acura TSX is 2.4 inches longer, 3 inches wider and rides on a wheelbase that's been stretched by 1.3 inches. It's roughly 100 pounds heavier, too. The suspension setup continues to feature dual wishbones in front and a multilink setup in back, although a set of dual-mode suspension dampers has been added that are said to provide a better compromise between low-speed comfort and high-speed control.

Like the previous TSX, the 2009 Acura TSX incorporates a long list of standard features. You get a power driver seat, seven-speaker audio system, Bluetooth and a USB port, plus dual-zone climate control and satin-metal trim. The optional technology package adds a navigation system with real-time traffic information.

Sales of the 2009 Acura TSX begin in April.

What's Edmunds' take?
The 2009 TSX doesn't look different on the outside and probably won't feel any different on the inside. Probably won't sell any better, either. — Ed Hellwig, Lead Senior Editor, Inside Line
