There may be a free K&N intake for a TSX up for grabs soon in the black market along with a few other items...

Does anyone have a reasonable explanation why Acura is still using the old fashioned DVD based NAV systems instead of a hard drive based system? That, along with their transition AWAY from touchscreens is just counter productive IMO.

Oh, and a nice tire/wheel combination from the factory would also help the cause, instead of "mud and snow rated" tires on a "sports" sedan, and wheels that look like they came straight from a camry.

well, all i can say is that acura's just a step behind with a lot of things. they just started using integrated keyfobs while the rest of the game has moved to start buttons.

and that's always been one of my complaints with acura. their wheels are very conservative and bland.

after looking at more pictures from leftlanenews, i have to say i really like the design more and more. it's really grown on me.

it still resembles our 1g but doesn't look as boring and has more of a presence.

but would i buy it? unless i can find a killer deal on it,

what's underneath the hood and the price just really turn me off.

like the 1g, i'm willing to sacrifice power for value.

but at $35k or even $30k+ when prices eventually drop, there's really not that much value anymore.

You say that now, but wait until you see the next TL!

A current gen FWD TL-S w/ less horsepower than a G35 already costs more. I don't see the next gen being any cheaper, especially if it's getting AWD.

its not a bad design. I say it would be find in a type s trim with the rdx turbo'd motor and a price of 35k for a loaded tsx type s

So that they can sell you a $300 DVD every year?

Oh, and a nice tire/wheel combination from the factory would also help the cause, instead of "mud and snow rated" tires on a "sports" sedan, and wheels that look like they came straight from a camry.
I agree, their wheels are extremely boring. I'd love to see pics of that car with a nice set of 18" wheels.

Yeah, you guys are comparing the TL-S to a base G35 but once you add in all the little extras like bluetooth and nav the prices are more comparable.

I forsee slow sales of the base TSX forcing Acura to release the Type S, or develop a type S, sooner than planned. We'll see the RDX engine with AWD sooner than later.

If the current TL-S is comparably priced to a similarly equipped G35, the next gen TL will most likely be priced HIGHER than a similarly equipped G35, and not to mention probably slower due to more weight from an AWD system. Being "comparably" priced in the last few months of its current generation is a bad spot to be, especially when it depended on "value" for sales.

** Note I am assuming the next TL will definitely have AWD...it needs more HP to be competitive, and FWD can't handle more HP than the current model so it will need AWD.

This is Honda's FWD stubbornness at work...had they had the foresight to switch to a RWD platform, the issue with FWD power-handling limitations and requiring a heavier and costlier AWD system would be moot.

^^ I agree I REALLY dont want the next TL to be AWD we all saw what standard AWD did to the RL. SHAWD might be a great system (and I am sure it is I have only read good things about it) but make it an option for people who see AWD and think "More gas, more maintance, and higher MSRP."

I went to the NYIAS yesterday and saw the new TSX. To be honest, it looks like a late 90's Camry with fat fender flares and a Honda Accord front end I thought seeing it in person would make me like it more than the pictures but it didn't, it's still real disappointing.

I took some pictures which I'll post up later on when I get them onto my computer

I may just pull a domlike trade and get an '08 6MT before they're gone. Yow: bigger, heavier, and no power gain? Lose, lose, lose.

I don't understand the relentless push (by all OEM's) to make each successive model bigger and heavier. I really like the TSX the size it is, just needed a tad more oomph.

And what's with all the friggin buttons - I love the clean interior of the current TSX. For some reason the Honda peeps think that consumers translate more buttons = more luxury - WTF!

I guess so. That's really the only way to explain it...or like Jedi said, Acura is just always a step behind. And their motto is "ADVANCE"...

In regards to the wheels, is there anyone that could photoshop a pair of liquid graphite RJ Legends on this pic:

Maybe that might help its image a little bit, cuz I really like this blue...

Thanks.

I don't see Acura offering 3 engines in the TSX so when the diesel is offered next year some uprated gasser should follow. Acura just wants to milk the current powertrain for another year. Maybe this is what they meant when they said they'll be a tier 1 player - offset the platform and powertrain changes a la BMW.

I was at the NY auto show yesterday and I liked the '09 better in person than in the pics. I think it looks good.

I still think that the 2009 TSX would have been absolutely gorgeous with the MDX grille... just not this horrendous guillotine thing!!! Ugh!

why would ANYONE buy this new TSX over the new accord??

Accord has more power, "Same" interior, Looks better ( imo), same features and it is alot cheaper.

and i am surporised no one has noticed that this NEW TSX is using the same Shifter as my 4 years old s2000.

Accord interior:

Acura makes me laugh.

$35K seems too much and for $35K I can go get myself a better car for the money like a G35 sedan which has 105 more hp than the new TSX.

Hot as... 200 degrees?

I'm sorry, I only notice a sea of gray and buttons in this new TSX. And it doesn't look that different from the Accord... wait, it IS an Accord.

The reactions from the car magazines are what I expect. I'm surprised that C/D actually likes it. The 6sp might still be very good (and good thing the shifter remains the same). I don't think it'll land on the 10 best list this time though.

Personally, I don't expect the 2nd gen TSX to be very successful, unless the other version has significant powertrain improvement.

My gripes:

- Fuel economy: for an I4, it barely edges other's V6 and I6.

- Design: it's OK to be evolutionary, but the grille sucks. I don't know what the sport 4 concept was for really. Interior of course just isn't very inspiring or luxurious. Some real brushed aluminum please.

This car stirs no emotions. (OK, bad emotions.) It's a piece of sensible transportation tool. Well, less sensible than the NA accord. Like Edmunds says, this car is sort of in the middle of the road, not super value or economical, not hot rod performance. There are certainly people who like this type of products (yeah, many Acura owners), but I'm not one.

As disappointed as I am, I don't think there's any question (at least IMO) that the 09 will sell as well as the first gen. Which was ~3K per month on average.

even with the price increase?

i have no doubt that it'll sell well. but one strength of the 1g was the value in price.

now, it no longer buries its competition.

as for whether or not i'd get the new TSX over the accord? i'd get the coupe over the TSX. but the TSX over the accord sedan. i just don't like its styling.

I'd rather have it plain black plastic with bits of chrome, like in the vents in the current version and chrome door release, rather than this faux metal look throughout the cabin.

Yea I really miss the Sports 4 concept. Honda usually makes the concepts actually reflect the upcoming models, but not in this case I guess. It's really more like a refresh than a new model. WTF.

Werd on the Sports 4 concept. If they had built anything like that as the next TSX there would be singing in the streets here at AZ. Instead, ol' reliable teases us with something awesome just to hand us the same tired crap over and over again.....
