Honestly, the grille doesn't look too bad on the TSX. It's starting to grow on me, but can always be replaced with the Euro Accord's or Mugen if need be. And hopefully RonJon will work on something as well.

I also hope my RonJon wheels will fit on the 2G. Although unless something happens, I won't be in the market for a new car till around 2011-2012 and may want new wheels anyway by then.

Unlike I most here, I like the MDX grill. It looks nice on the new TSX.

Thumbs up

[QUOTE=majin ssj eric]What ever happened with the Sports4 concept? I thought the new TSX was supposed to look like this:

Arguably, it does look like the Sports4. They just had to translate the design elements into a vehicle that could actually be sold for less than 200 thousand dollars (US).

I dont really see too much difference in the Sport4 concept grille and the new grille that will make production.

That TSX keeps looking worse.
The grille
The wheels
The overall body design

Sure it's based off of an Accord...(really all the Acura lineup is pretty much "versions" of Accords)....but come on now....how about an original design that doesn't look like 3 years ago.

i like it.

it looks like a nice evolution, and the grille's not all that of a shocker because we knew it was gonna be there.

and the car looks aggressive while keeping it's body size.

now i still don't like the girlle, but i think it looks better on the TSX's body than the RL's. it just flows better, in my opinon.

the wheels are ugly, but hey, it's honda. what did you expect?

Looks just as classy as the first gen. Now about those powerplants - I still see the RDX engine mentioned. Some version of the K24 seems to be a given and the diesel next year but the other engine? And of course the price....I can't see them raising the base above 30K.

these latest pics remind me of when we had a gathering of about 10 legends at an acura dealership for a meet i was putting on....

we had customers asking us if they were for sale and if they were a new model(2G). If acura keeps this up hopefully me legend will increase in resale value!! lol

I agree that the MDX grille looks really so much better on both the RL and this new TSX too!

Can't be a difficult fix for Acura, right? Are you listening!? Sigh...

What? That grille looks horrible.

Big chrome grilles belong on Buicks ... Oh, right. I forgot. Buick = Acura

Can't believe I'm saying this, but the 09 TSX is beginning to look really good. I didn't think it would look so good being an evolutionary design, but out of the latest Acura designs (RDX, MDX...RL refresh ) it's the little TSX that looks like it has the strongest design.

Is it really good, or just relatively really good!? LOL

I wonder if it's Acura's plan to just completely butcher the RL just to make the new TSX look really good!? It's funny that we didn't think that the new TSX look that great, but now having seen the new RL suddenly we all feel that the new TSX is looking better and better... LOL! Hey, since the RL was selling so poorly, let's just kill it altogether and make the other models look really great.... LOL!

Seriously though, the MDX grille should be the new corporate face of Acura - it is looking great on both the new RL and the new TSX!!! I have always loved it on the MDX too... :-)

Post New spy shot...

From Autoblog...

In case you didn't know, the Acura TSX sold in the U.S. is basically the same car as the European version of the Honda Accord. So when we see spy shots of the old country's new Accord, we're interested because we're looking at the next TSX for us. This image was sent into us by Autoblog reader bojan with not much information, but it's clear that we're looking at the 2009 Honda Accord Tourer (wagon) for Europe. The car's shape is based on the Accord Tourer Concept that was shown by the automaker at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September. Since there's virtually no covering, we can make all those bits that Honda showed use in a series of teaser images it released late last month. It's shaping up to be one extremely sharp wagon, which we'll get to see in person next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Even though we'll get the sedan version of this car over here in the States as the next Acura TSX, the tourer model will likely remain beyond our reach and not offered in the U.S.

Just as I thought - the EuroAccord grill would be a nice replacement for the Acura one. I would take this wagon over an RDX any day.

Why is it that Honda can do such a good job on a wagon but totally screw up the RL?

Like I said in the RL thread, it's really not the grille that's the problem, it's that it was tacked onto the existing RL's body, which resulted in what we now know as the RL's mmc refresh

When it's done right, the end result is pretty good. I loved the MDX's grille the minute I saw it. If it had been the usual Acura A logo with the wing like in previous Acura's, it would've been another boring Acura.

The whole MDX front end looks amazing and the grill is a very impressive part of it. I had hoped that the grill design will be carried over to the new gen sedans (a la the TSX chop) but I guess that won't be so.

Agree. I own an RL and an MDX. Of the three grills (current RL grill, new RL grill, current MDX grill), I like the MDX grill best. The current RL grill is too "ordinary", and the new RL grill is too asymmetrical. Maybe if the grating below this shield was chromed instead of black it would look more balanced (like the Sports4). Or, at least move the shield to the center of the grill area. The unbalanced look is not appealing to the eye. It has to go.

Here's the teaser pics from edmunds, seems they broke the embargo again.

I think it looks alright, shoulda went with the MDX grille, but as someone else said this is not a deal breaker.

One thing I'm not a fan of is the cheap looking rectangular black mesh in behind the grille and lower valance.

This works--very well, IMO. It's got bold, angular lines that fit very well with the "power plenum" grille. I'm hoping the G3 RL will be a play on this styling theme, as this is really handsome.

Acura--THIS IS HOW THE RL SHOULD HAVE LOOKED! CLEAN, SHARP, BOLD! Just give us a plus size TSX (think: two sizes bigger)!!

+1 - it's obvious the RL designers were nowhere near the TSX designers.
