Go Big Blue!
Now that we know what the outside looks like, I'm thinking about the interior.
Anyone want to place bets whether this will have keyless start and door handles? A logical person would say, absolutely. But then again, this is Honda. It doesn't have to have a stupid button start. At least start using the system that's been in the RL since 2005!
Also, it better have a damn backup camera.

I'm the Firestarter
If the Prius has keyless start, there's no reason every $30,000+ car out there can't have it. Other than pure lazyness on the part of the automakers.

^ Yep agree, that is what I said a few pages back that when the wagon came out..you are looking at the TSX front and some back...just thought some might want to see the post....the two engine/drivetrain offering maybe on the mark too...
I was hoping for more motor without turbo and a coupe but does not look like it so far...

Shark Fin?
Anyone notice the shark fin on the roof in these photos?

Is Acura aligning with OnStar again? I can't believe that. Maybe they are coming out with their own emergency communication system this year and the TSX is debuting it? That would be a good thing for them to do

Oops, he's going to be insulted.
I used to own a 95 GT Spyder (with hard top convertible). It looked like it from that angle. Maybe because mine was red too.

Ya that is my thought too once I went back and looked...tail pipe and wheels look like the earlier TL spy shots....I heard about the TSX coupe from the same people I heard about the TL-S well before it was known ( a casual mention in a conversation)...but now they are changing their tune....no coupes??? I guess it will be March before we know for sure on the TSX and later on the TL...

SpicyMikey, how useful is OnStar ? I have no experience using it, and want to hear it from real users, because all that I read is that GM is the biggest subsciber because at one time GM tried to equipe all GM cars with OnStar, and that most GM customers don't continue to subscribe the service after the 1st year free service has expired.

I believe OnStar is owned by GM. That would explain why GM cars are the largest users. However, it seemed to be spreading to other car makers. It was in the second gen RL but then, in the 07 model year, they discontinued the service. I bought mine in 07 so I never experienced it myself. My onStar buttons are just filled with blanks.
There have been many threads on the Second Gen RL forum about it. Some like the added security and some felt it was unnecessary if you had a cell phone. It seems this service is starting to morphe a bit and become less of a builtin cellphone and more of safety device. As you probably know, it can alert a central monitoring center when your air bag deploys (we've all heard the commercials). It can also be used to quickly locate the cars exact location via GPS if you were stranded or your car was stolen or remotely unlock your doors for you if you lock yourself out. I now hear they are considering putting in a feature that allows you to shut the car off remotely. This could be a nice feature if your car got stolen or if a cop was in a high speed pursuit.
Is it absolutely necessary? No. But I think it's a good feature to offer on an upscale brand. Lexus and BMW now offer their own versions (not using OnStar)

^ agree, it is a good safety feature...run off the road (wreck), air bag goes off and they know about it AND can locate you...We had a mother of three die here Saturday night by running off road into a deep creek...they did not find her until Monday!! On Star may or may not have saved her but she might have had a chance..?? Wish my wifes accord had it...
As for cel phone in a wreck, you may be out of it or the phone may have been on the seat etc and you cannot get to it...etc....

OnStar has been around a while and was originally (until recently) an analog service. Now that it's switched to digital along with the common availability of onboard GPS Nav systems, they can start offering all these cool services. I think there's a future for such a service. The analogy that it's just a builtin phone is less and less true every day.
Not many people will argue it's got potential. I think that's why you're seeing other car manufacturers now starting to create their own OnStar type service rather then licensing it from GM anymore. They realize it's got potential now to be way more then just a niche product.

OnStar also relies on cellular service for communication with the command center. I guess not even OnStar can help if one got stuck in where there's no cellular coverage.

well according to my dealer the new TSX will be on the lots in April. There will be a Type S model with Turbo and AWD using the RDX motor and a slightly bigger turbo producing 260hp. He is a friend but part of me doesn't have much faith in it being then based on when Acura usually releases cars.

we need official pics of the new TSX. if it's anything like those mules they were testing in Ohio, it's too bland for me. i did see the pic on the Chicago auto show website of the 09 TSX under a white veil, but they took it down.

I hope that the Type S rumor w/ SH-AWD & 250+ HP w/ adequate torque will silence the critics of the TSX being less than an entry level luxury sport sedan. Granted, the RL needs a lot more help but this TSX will be a good start for the brand.

It's going to be a repeat of last time - the car comes out at the Geneva show in early March and is available a few weeks later both in Europe and US. But unlike last time it's not released in Japan any earlier. Of course what's exactly going to be released is still up in the air - typical Honda being secretive till the last minute.

Only the TSX made its debut at Detroit, in January.
