Acura: TLX News
I shoot people
I would think there'll be a lot of tuning potentials
but yeah.. disappointing

TH (and Thomas in particular) gives you way more feedback in terms of driving dynamics (and how the vehicle being tested compares to its competition) than TSP.
Cliché corner really doesn't tell you much of anything.
The S-Type just barely beats the turbo-4 Sonata to 60, only ties the N-Line in the 1/4 mi and gets beat by the N-Line in the roll and to 100 mph and 130 mi, as.well as getting bested in the top gear runs -- how sad.
Imagine if Hyundai had stuck an LSD in the N-Line like they should have done - the Sonata would walk away.

^ Context, context, context. In comparison, the TLX loses out to the more pedestrian/less lux Hyundai.

Great. So the performance oriented, better built, Luxury car loses out to the less lux car built for the masses, in outright performance and that’s an embarrassment. Did I get that right? Can I quote this in other threads where the context is similar. Thanks.

And you're making false equivalencies (shocking!).

Something something.
Tire Size
Wheel diameter
Fuel type
Summer v All Season tires
Something irrelevant about the Pilot, then the GV80
Quality = Significantly shorter warranty
TLX faster after 80k miles
Did I miss any, my Bingo card is almost full

it is like 10% larger engine. along with differences in single and twin turbo. TLX performance is good for engine and weight size.
2.0T Accord is much faster than 1.5T. so what does it tell you?

It tells me that the TLX is big, heavy, and slow. Also tells me that the Accord is a better buy.

Does he know that there is more to the modern launch control than just power braking?

The same person reviewed RWD G70 a month a ago. only 81 comments. while TLX got twice amount of comments on video in few days.
Genesis not interesting to people.
Go straight to content at 15minute. TLX beat this G70 RWD in 0-60mph.

at the amount of comments that make a car popular

TLX-S videos on Youtube also have more comments than Genesis. except most of them are talking shit about how slow it is
people comments on videos either positive or negative to show there interest .
but these people not very experience with Honda engines. There is no way BMW 3 series that much faster if both TLX and BMW 3 are on 20 inch wheel and tire setup and TLX performance will improve much more with more mileage.
I can guarantee after warranty expires TLX will have far superior residual value than BMW 3.

Heavy car = slow in acceleration. This is simple Physics that is also common sense.

TLX is slower because it is heavy in curb weight, and is at least 200 lbs heavier than most of its competitors. This has nothing to do with the wheel size nor the tire setup nor the experience level.

But, I definitely agree that curb weight coupled with the brand's extremely conservative tuning doesn't help matters.

If Acura could not lower the weight due to SHAWD, they should at least give it more power to "offset" some of its weight.... with FI engines, it is really not hard to do...
Pretty typical Acura tho, never go all the way.

Agreed. But, it probably goes back to Fiatlux's post in the 2G TLX forum with respect to the transmission not being able to support the additional power. By going FWD, seems like they compromised the product with the only tranny alternatives being the inhouse 10AT or re-sourcing the ZF9; can't imagine this board if the ZF9 came back.

2015 TLX is full one second faster at 0-120mph than 2018 TLX due to its 18inch rims despite tall side wall tires and heavier setup.

All things equal, you are correct that smaller rims will lead to faster acceleration and longer range. That said, no amount of smaller sized wheels are going to help the TLX beat these other two.
If you seriously think they can, go get a TLX-S and put some 18in wheels on it (guessing you can't because they won't fit over the brakes) and see what happens. If you are so confident in your position, go out and prove it. Either that or this is going to turn into another discussion about AWD systems that rapidly blew up in your face.
Edit: Oh and as it pertains to that video you posted, he gets a 0-60 time of 5.02s on a shitty road and a RWD car. Car and Driver got a best time of 4.9s from a TLX-S on a drag strip with a clean surface. My guess is that it would get dusted by the AWD version of the G70 on a clean surface. Actually it's not a guess, there's a video to prove it.

i mean why introduce a product that everyone is so excited about and only to introduce a compromised product... If that was Acura's intention, they should have just name the current Type S the ASPEC.... This really does not help Acura at all when they hype it up and underdeliver. Especially getting beat by Genesis... that is a No-No in my book.
if i were Acura's executive, i would tell the R&D team to revise the next MY TLX-S and make sure it beats Genesis... whatever it takes.
