Just order a 335Xi and be done with it. All the cool kids drive bimmers.

A man of your stature can't be seen slumming it in an TLX. Don't be a tight ass like Fibbo. Spend your wife's money and let her buy you another car.

As for the other, let's stay on topic as you asked about the German power. But you also showed how the HP debate is also pointless as relatively cheap HP can be abound in different vehicles. Are they in the same vehicle class here is the question? Someone buying a mid-2000's S500 probably couldn't care less if a Mustang GT at that time also had a ~300HP V8.

As for real world performance how often do people do 20-100? Flicking fingers? I would bet a year's salary the DCT has a auto mode and probably a sport mode that will allow redline shifting.

As for the actual performance, in a couple months I guess Edmunds will have a early review for some numbers.
This..
We can all sit around and bitch about which luxury sports car thing has the most HP (Just FYI I believe the Volvo
o S60 with 240hp @ 33k wins this debate), but at the end of the day what really matters are things like steering feedback, suspension tuning, dampening, weight, rigidity etc... Any car can make HP #'s, but what's more important is how well it uses those #'s, and the experience they provide for the driver. If you want to see power done poorly, just look at the base level V6 Mustang.

No need to be a smart ass. What's happening in the automotive market? Are the majority of manufacturers moving away from N/A engines? Yes. Why? Market demand for engines that are both more powerful and more fuel efficient. Hence, forced injection. How has Acura been doing relative it its competition? Shrinking sales numbers and market share.

It's a brand new car from a supposed luxury marque. Vanilla would be acceptable on a Honda or Toyota. It doesn't matter if it's their bread-and-butter sedan, it should impress somehow. Yet the main defense around here is that "it's not that much behind it's competitors!" or "it'll be a great value!"

to comply with latest safety regulations and increase refinement. BMW cars are getting heavier so they need more torque for performance and wider tires for handling. The proves that BMW engineering is fundamentally flawed.

Looks good, but like someone said earlier, this should have been the 4g. It would have saved Acura a lot of heartache, stylewise, over that generation. All in all, it's a step in the right direction, like eating vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. Maybe the mmc will go all out a be neapolitan.

The back end is missing a few things. (dead horse beating here)
1. Exposed exhausts
2. More Low
3. Can't tell, but possible LED brakelights. Looks like old school filament bulbs in there behind the LED tubes.

It's not bad of a design, it's just too bad they didn't get the wheel fitment right. It's just begging for a half inch drop and bigger/wider wheels.

Sales number does not mean much. Nissan has increase sales a lot. BMW has way too much leases that transactional price don't even matter that almost BMW leases will return to dealers.

I like the interior. I'm glad Acura is embracing wood (even if it's fake) in the TLX. You rarely saw the wood accented interior in the press photos for the TL. The exterior sadly still looks boring.

I think it looks good with the big wheels and black interior. It doesn't set my heart on fire, but nothing in this segment does. The 3G everyone's raving about actually had less to differentiate itself from the Accord, with the same 5AT and no torque vectoring AWD system.

The main shortcoming of this car is the powertrain. They should add a 350 hp Type S with visible exhaust. 6MT won't be a big seller but they could have it to appease the enthusiasts. And 2.0T ~250 hp for the base engine. They are close and far at the same time.

^^ Why does it look like an SUV in that picture? Minus the wheel gap it just seems to have a very high waistline. Could be the angle of the photo...

These two probably sum it up the best for me. It's not bad, but not great, just meh. Complete opposite reaction of when I see most other cars. I think the 6G Hyandai Sonata got more attention from me versus anything Acura's put out in the last 5-7 years or so.

First thing I thought when I looked at the TLX was Honda Accord. Acura needs to distance itself from Honda instead of being, as Moog calls it, Honda +. When I look at a GS or even IS, I don't even remotely thing of Toyota... I think Lexus. But whenever I look at an Acura (with a few exceptions like the MDX), I just think Honda vanilla.

I'm not going to argue sales numbers b/c I have no idea how it will do. I just know it doesn't interest me. Maybe if/when they come out with a Type-S spec it may look more aggressive and pique my interest again...

after reading this thread I've finally realized that acura can't do anything right, and any car enthusiast worth his salt would be driving a hyundai sonata before he'd be caught dead in a tlx.

honestly, with a drop this car would be sexy, I don't really care what all the armchair racers say:

The wheel change alone would have made a big difference, IMO.

It appears Acura still have the wrong people in their marketing dept. Instead of showing off the best possible looking version, they chose the least appealing version(s).

You know what other dealers don't have used cars in their lot? Saturn

You make it sound like that is a good thing proved that you have NO IDEA how the industry works.

You have to sell enough new cars to have enough used cars on the lot.
