I'm hoping Acura steps it up in power for the TLX to truly compete, on paper at least, with the likes of Lexus, Infiniti, etc and provide a base model with 300hp, which leaves the door open for an open for an awesome type s model or whatever option for the future.

From Jalopnik:
But besides the new NSX — which has a tremendous legacy to live up to, so it had better be damn near perfect — there isn't much to Acura these days. That's sad, because it's a brand built on innovation. Remember that Acura was the first Japanese luxury brand created to do battle with Mercedes and BMW; that was a ballsy idea in the 1980s, and their Legend and Integra actually lived up to that promise.
Acura's stagnation has never been more apparent. How do they fix it? By making some enticing, ridiculous, forward-thinking concept cars and then take some of those into production to show the world that they still have some energy left and aren't going out with a whimper of beigeness.
I just don't see any evidence that this is going to happen, and I don't see much value in making jokes about their beaks or their cars' names or their boring designs. It's not funny anymore; it's just sad.

When Acura started, Soichiro Honda was still alive. Mr. Honda believed in making ballsy moves like starting a Japanese luxury car company.
Acura is now a shell of its former self. Soichiro-san

Hopefully the 4G TL was Acura's "holy shit, I've hit rock bottom" moment, and the 5G TL will give enough momentum for something groundbreaking other than the NSX.
Fingers crossed.
PS: Don't EVEN get me started on the Cleveland Clowns. Grrrrrrrrrr.......

BMW, Audi and Lexus don't come well equipped for < 35k, especially the BMW, which in 320i form sucks any way.
The TLX's V6 will do fine against BMW's, and Mercedes up level engines.
Lexus's power trains? You mean the IS250 and the IS350's thirsty engine? Other than their V8, Lexus's power trains are pretty lackluster.

IS engines are boring but at least you can say IS250 got a V6. a POS V6 but to average buyer. it is a V6.

Yah because average 4 banger TLX buyer will care about 0-60 and to achieve that time (If it is actually 6.6), they have to launch and rev the shit out of that thing with lightning fast finger flicking on those DCT. ![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

The Q50 is easily Acura's biggest Japanese competition for the TLX, and even that has a rather 'outdated' power train.

If say, the Mugen Legend Max ever was a production car, it COULD'VE given us something to brag about that could take on the almighty M5!

The current TL has 305 hp, more than a 335. The NEW DI V6 has even more and it has more torque and is smoother V6 as well.
The RLX weighs 3900 pounds and does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. The MDX weighs 4400 (?) pounds and does 0-60 in 6.3. The TLX will be even better.

Not exactly sure what the Jalponik guy is trying to say.. He's dissapointed that Acura hasn't really made anything exciting, and just made another Sedan?
What was he expecting? It's Acura. TLX is not ugly, sounds decent, has an optional 3.5 w/ AWD or 2.4 w/ DCT. It checked all the things I was looking for. The current K24Z3 2.4 makes 200hp. For comparison purposes a 320i makes 180hp and costs 33k base. I'm guessing the TLX will also cost 33k base and will have 215hp.. Not to mention it will cost thousands less then a similarily equipped 320i, and will have a DCT. Not sure what the problem is here. The 3.5 Im guessing will have around 300hp and cost around 38-40k. That places it in the same range as a base 328xi with 240hp, and the Q50 with 318 hp.. Not to mention Acura's engines are N/A. Still don't understand what they were expecting.. Acura made a decent looking car that's reasonably priced, has decent specs, has a high revving engine, and sounds decent. Considering this is the same company that just made the ILX and RLX, this is a massive step up imo. I know for sure I'll be geting one soon.

So what if it has more advertised hp than 335? i can guarantee you that it is not faster.
The new DI V6 has more? than what? then 3.5L V6 280hp or the 3.7L V6? 305hp
I am not even going to reply to those 0-60 times, because that is not really the bench standard to measure how fast the car is.

I dont see whats wrong with J-series? It's not what the Germans are doing? Is that it? You think we should all be driving BMW. Accord with dinosaur J-series traps 1/4 mile faster than 328 with much better NVH. It is comparable with IS350 and ATS 3.6. Why would AWD 9AT TLX be much worse.

The F30 320i currently 18 lb-ft more then the K24 used in the '13 TSX. I guarantee you the one used in the TLX will be pretty close to 184 lb-ft. Acuras current 3.5 only has 1 lb-ft of torque less then the F30 328i lmao.. I guarentee you the 3.5 in the TLX will have more then that. Not exactly sure what your point is as both engines will have pretty close or more torque then offered in the 320i/328i.

i hate 328, i think it drives like shit if you read anything i posted before. But i seriously think 328 is faster in a straight line race. I dont want everyone to drive BMW, if it is not because no one else offers 6mt RWD 300+ HP cars, i would not be driving 335.
And why are you comparing J series V6 with 328? you should comparing the 2.4L 4 cylinder and 328.

FI engines delivers torque at low RPM, so you can actually Feel it. Except if you put a turbo that is as big as a basketball.

Because similarily equipped, a 328i will be 8-9k more then the 2.4 TLX. How much does a decently equipped 335i cost these days? 55k? Price wise the 2.4 lines up with the 320i and the V6 the 328i. No one in their right mind is going to compare a 55k monster 335i to a 45k V6 TLX.

I still prefer N/A engines to Turbo engines.. Even if FI engines have more power/torque at lower RPM's. Thier just more fun too me. I drive at 5-7 rpm all day and enjoy it. Not to mention turbo engines cannot make the same noises N/A engines do. My mom has a f30 328i, I have a 2nd gen TSX. Which one has more power? 328i. Which one has more torque? 328i. Which one is FI? 328i. Which one do I enjoy driving more? TSX. Why? it makes the right kind of noises and makes you work to get every ast drop of power from it.

But you have to understand different engine suits different cars.
In cars like S2000, Si, TSX, ILX, it is ok to put "fun" engines.
I am not sure about TLX.

lol it's an opinion. I prefer driving high revving N/A engines over FI engines. Why? They make nicer noises and I find them more fun. For comparison I've driven the F30 328i, the current gen. 2.0T A5 cabriolet, 2.0T VW CC and the older 2.0T Passat. Maybe it's because I've never driven a higher end FI vehicle? ![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
