"What's more, as Edmunds reported, the configuration in the NSX isn't going to be shared with any other Honda product."
why are you so happy about exclusive NSX configuration?

I know i won't be able to afford one, Can you?

So that is not a good news.

Ya at first I was happy about the TT.

Then saw the configuration news and edited my post to add the info. Should have made a separate post

I would love to see the same V6 detuned, single turbo make its way to TLX

350hp and 330lbs of torque. $45k. AWD

Then Finally Acura can say "Fuck you Lexus and BMW". Then Acura probably will put a ^ in the front to fuck it up.

Not sure if a 90° V6 would even fit in a TLX sized sedan

Doesn't it take up alot of space (width) Especial being longitudinally mounted?

I mean look how they stuffed the 90° V6 in the NA1/2 NSX

Yeah, that was transversely in the NSX.

And yes, a 90 degree V6 thats DOHC is going to be rather wide, also means a lower hood.

Partly what annoyed me with the Legend/RL/1st gen TL. That engine bay could have easily fit a V8.

That 2.5 TL could've fit a V10

I always got a laugh when I popped the hood. "What? Inline 5?" "What? Longitudinally mounted and FWD?"

You can fit a V12 in current TL. shit is a boat.

It took some innovation to mount a engine longitudinally in a FWD car.

ummm...With that much power, you don't want that kind of wheel hop and torque steer on a TLX.

Just make the thing look like a big old bowl of metal spaghetti. Audi does it all the time. How about some engineering, Honda?!

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...train_changes/

The high-tech powertrain will be augmented by a surprisingly low curb weight that one engineer suggested was targeted at 2200 pounds, though he quickly stopped talking after that. We don't know much about the NSX's body and frame construction yet, but Honda confirmed it will be an aluminum monocoque. The Ferrari, by way of comparison, weighs a shade less than 3450 pounds.

errrm...this gotta be a typo? I mean I'd be amazed if the new NSX is under 3200lb....2200lb?? That's crazy, especially if this thing has over 500hp!

Way to go, Honda !

Turbo engines are the future in generating big horsepower.

It sure is a hard decision to "follow" other automakers, but nowadays the whole auto industry is going after force-induction technology for big hp and big fuel saving.

Audi and BMW has been exceptionally successful with a wide range of turbo/super charged engines with excellent results.

I think you forget Mercedes too.

Somewhat ironic that the biggest complaint previous RDX owners had about 1G was the unrefined turbo.

That is obviously a typo. 3200lbs is more realistic at the price target Acura is trying to hit.

We're told Acura's benchmark in developing the new NSX is the vaunted Ferrari 458 Italia, with Acura hoping to provide a comparable or better driving experience for less money (911 prices, it says) and with more technology. The high-tech powertrain will be augmented by a surprisingly low curb weight that one engineer suggested was targeted at 3200 pounds, though he quickly stopped talking after that. We don't know much about the NSX's body and frame construction yet, but Honda confirmed it will be an aluminum monocoque. The Ferrari, by way of comparison, weighs a shade less than 3450 pounds.

3200 lbs is pretty nice for a car with what 2 (or 3) motors LOL...

I think its gonna be a sick beast unless Acura decides to fuq with the fans...

Not that crazy, the McLaren F1 LM street version weighted ~2300lb and had over 680HP.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mclaren_f1#F1_LM

Other street versions of the F1 weighted ~2500lb and have 627HP

And were designed 20 years ago

But yes I agree with the 2G NSX it's a typo and 3200lb.

But by God, Gordon Murray is a F'ing gunius!

lol it probably wasn't a hard decision for Honda to make. This is pretty typical with Honda with following the others. Some examples:

CR-V came after the RAV4
V6 engine in the Accord
Pilot came after the disastrous Passport
Ridgeline - last midsize truck to the market
5AT, 6AT, DCT, etc
NSX - a response to Ferrari
Odyssey - pretty much the last minivan to the market (1g was again a failure)

While Honda is also renowned for coming up with interesting new cars and technologies, I'd say Honda is pretty good with being a "follower." It does not just follow the others, but it tries to do it better and smarter (i.e. AWD system, hybrid, MDX, Pilot, RDX, DCT, NSX, Odyssey, etc).

lol ok fine. 2200lb/600hp would be crazy for a car that is supposed be under $200k!

Back on topic, if Honda can reach the target weight of 3200lb, that's still pretty good.

Um yeah, I have one. A boat it is not. You can rip on the power plenum all you want, but it is a steal compared to the S4. Would I like it better in a slightly smaller, nimbler package with better steering feel? Yes.

I will be amazed if Honda can pull off the aggressive powertrain, weight target, "911~esque" price point AND release date goal.

My gut tells me it will be priced closer to $150k and given the small annual production runs, probably be difficult to get your hands on.

Most of the cars feels like a boat to me after you spent 6 years in s2000 everyday. That includes my 335.

to be honest, i have never driven the 4G TL SHAWD 6mt, because i refuse to be seen in one.
