tbf all I have seen are rumours and so called quotes from Honda insiders.....I'm not even sure if those "quotes" are legit or not.

Let me ask BoostedJack and Altegris. Both pimpdaddies have the Honda/Acura CEOs in their speed-dials.

I'll get us the official word. Heck, even free test-drives.

Well, it is likely that the Honda insiders have more knowledge of the projects than the Honda CEO himself, just like the US spy chief knows more about spying than the Pres. himself.

Autocar UK on NSX

Story is similar to what ttribe posted above.

911 starts at $85k and ascends to around $100k. Instead of jonesing for an RLX hybrid or Accord Sport, I need to be saving pennies for an NSX. That is the one car I'd sell my S2000 for. Hmmmmmmm......

"As engineers, we like numbers, but I’m acutely aware that if we build this car against a set of criteria that has been written down, we will lose our sense of focus.”

The Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911, Audi R8, Ferrari 458 and McLaren 12C are among the competitors being used as benchmarks by Klaus. “We’re looking for the excitement of the 458 at the price of the 911, and we think the hybrid technology can help us achieve that,” he said.

The car will be launched in 2015.

I honestly think the NSX will be priced higher....plus they will be soooo limited that they will sell for more than the MSRP....

you are getting a hybrid system (2 motors) AND i dont see any high performance hybrid for less than 150K....am still guessing it will be some where around 120-ish and wont sell for less than 135K

from the post above...

“We’re looking for the excitement of the 458 at the price of the 911, and we think the hybrid technology can help us achieve that,”
Fortunately for Acura the price of a 911 can range anywhere from $90-200k, so they have plenty of wiggle room on that claim...

I bet it will be about $120k. That puts it at about the same as a V8 R8. I'd be very impressed if it was around $100k...

Considering the GT-R starts at $100k, I can't see the NSX being priced at that point. I think it will cost noticeably more than that.

On the other hand, we might see the real thing in less than a year.

^^^ as much as I love the GTR, I think it looks ugly and the NSX is packing more looks, features and specs than the GTR....

with that said, I will take a GTR any day of the week LOL

The thing with the GTR is we've seen how easily they can be made into supercar royalty (performance wise). Im not sure the NSX will follow those footsteps especially with the NA engine. It will be very interesting how/if at all the hybrid system can be tuned

My opinion is the NSX will be like the R8. Brilliant to look at inside and out, technically sound, built for occasional track use, but not meant to be tuned to 1000+hp

I think it will be hard to tune for the above reasons, plus the fact that the NSX will be so rare that not many tuners will work on the car.

Not all of us need a hyper tuned version of these cars. The NSX was not just about power, it was about the handling and the rest of the driving experience. Hopefully, the new one will stick to that formula, just like the original NSX and the S2000.

But if the new NSX is aiming for the excitement of the 560hp 458 at the price of the 911, engine power is something that cannot be overlooked.

Anyone else worried about the above? Kinda sounds like the logic behind the RLX. It will have all sorts of features and quality. Problem with that has been if you dont make it appealing they wont buy it.
We have criteria to go by, but havent set a goal or a benchmark.... We wont be fastest but we will have features and quality one would want..... Anyone else read that out of that?

Agree, except the new NSX will be very high tech, a lot of electronic assists with battery packs.

Which is totally opposite of what the original NSX and S2000 are. Pure Mechanical.

Nope. The article doesn't mention anything about the features or quality the NSX will exhibit.

However, the article does clearly mention that the benchmarks for the NSX are the Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911, Audi R8, Ferrari 458 and McLaren 12C with development having a large focus on driver involvement and pleasure.

Everything that has been hinted about this car so far leads me to believe that the goal is to not deviate from the original NSX, which has been recognized as one of the greatest sports cars ever.

You have to admit, though, that there has been a major leap in engineering in the past 10 years when it comes to engine HP. Back when the original NSX came out (which I still love, BTW) the amount of HP that NA V6 was producing was considered pretty heady stuff. These days, not so much. If the NSX is to compete, it will need to produce some pretty serious power.

^^^ true and I think it will...with the electric engine for off the line performance and the gas engine for more high end power, I think it will deliver a very nice power curve and a damn flat torque curve....

but then again, Acura does always surprise me in a bad way

No I don't speak for him, but when your post was so far off the mark, you had to be called out on it.

So long as Acura continues to design goofy/horrible looking cars, yes, I will call them out on it, as does everyone else.

You will continue to be one of the resident apologists....and call anyone who is not drinking the Honda Kool-Aid a hater.
