not really understand Acura cars planning, still.
where are the CL or the RSX successors?
Acura will not sell "el cheapo" cars any more. Thus, no more RSX successor in the Acura lineup.

Limited production exotic cars, such as Ferrari's and 911 GT3's, still have long waiting lists. As long as they don't mass produce like the Carrera, gas price will have no effect on these high priced exotic cars. For those who can buy $100k cars with ease, even $10 per gallon means nothing to them.

call them cheap if you want, I agree about the RSX, but if the 3Gn TL had been got a coupe version, like the CL, I would have been the FIRST on the waiting list...

Yay for Acura. Bad for me

The RSX had so much potential to be an entry level coupe. But no HIDs, no projectors, etc - stuff that would've made it a nice entry level coupe - they left it all out just to keep the price hovering barely above 20K.

Gas prices in Europe have been > $6/gal for quite a few years now. Average folks drive cars with little "sewing machine" 4 bangers with lots of manual transmissions. But the wealthy people are still driving their Bentley's, Jaguars, Mercedes and exotics with little regard for the price of fuel.

I was astounded at the number of Bentleys I saw every day on Kensington High Street in London. They were almost commonplace.

Along the same vein, city buses were advertising "Drivers Wanted" on the backs of coaches with starting salaries in the area of $50,000 USD.

Keep in mind that there's a lot of Arabic people living in London. Most of them are the ones who have stakes in the Saudi oil fields and pump operations. It is common sight to see them shopping in groups cleaning out expensive designer stuffs inside London's high-end department stores. In other words, the higher the gas pump price, the more the US dollars is pouring into their pockets.

...and over $8/gal now. People were used to $4-6/gal gas so the jump to $8 is not that much of an increase. Also, the increase has not been that bad in real terms for them - they don't pay in $ but in Euros. So while $6/gal gas 2 years ago cost 5 Euros, $8/gal gas today is still around 5 Euros (due to rise in exchange rate).

As has been mentioned at this end of the car buying spectrum gas mileage is not much of a consideration - tho I'm sure the salesfolks at Acura will point out the VCM feature of the car to anyone that cares.

Alot of the money the Euros fork over for gas is simply tax imposed by their governments. Its a perfect example of socialism run amok. Just watch Top Gear sometime and listen to them talk about all of the "road taxes" they have to pay over there! Congestion charge?? Just wait, its all coming over here with Barry and his left winger pals crowding into Washington....

Cool NeverEnding Rumors

2010 Acura NSX to Produce 600hp & Weigh Less than GT-R

While everyone thinks that Acura is not up-to-par in the luxury or performance game, the upcoming next-generation NSX will change all that for the Honda owned brand. According to AutoExpress, along with the Nissan GT-R and the Lexus LF-A, the 2010 Acura NSX will take on the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Maserati GranTurismo and the Jaguar XKR.

So far we’ve heard rumors that the 5.5L V10 powering the next-generation NSX will produce 500-hp. According to a new report the 5.5L V10 is expected to produce 600-hp with a peak torque of 443 lb-ft. It will be mated to a rear-wheel-drive architecture and a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

For everyone that judges a performance car based on Nurburgring lap times, the 2010 Acura NSX prototype has lapped the famous German track at a record time of 7:37.

AutoExpress also says that the next NSX will weigh 1,500kg - 250kg less than the Nissan GT-R. Pricing is expected to be £100,000 ($283,000).

The reason I like Acura, is because it's the best "bang for the buck" in the luxo game imho. But for $283,000 is insane for an Acura.

but if they really plan on taking the Brand to Tier 1, this may be a sign of the times.

A. 100,000 pounds is equal to 200,000 dollars - somebody on that link can't convert currency worth a damn

B. A car that costs 100,000 pounds in England, might cost 140,000 dollars here - e.g. R8. Its never a direct conversion.

An S2000 costs $34k here. In England, it costs 30k pounds ($60k USD) - hardly equivalent.

thanks for the conversion, I didn't even bother verifying that.. yeah... 140-150k is MUCH more doable.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but, just the mere fact that the NSX won't be AWD is itself an easy way to reduce weight as compared to the GT-R...no?

...hence, weight-spacer right there.

Well, if it is after the Vantage, GranTurismo et al...those cars are in the sub-$140K range. At $283K, Honda is placing this car into Gallardo price range. Ummmm...not gonna work.

It was a joke since the #1 criticism of the GTR is that it is HEAVY (and ugly).

It says RWD architecture, not RWD.

I know its not official but everything we've heard up until now says it will be SH-AWD equipped.

Never knew there was a difference...what does RWD-architecture specifically mean?

Its based off a RWD platform.

Example. BMW's and MB's are based on RWD platforms but also offered in AWD.

Audi's are FWD platforms but also offered in RWD. (RL as well)

Its likely the new NSX platform spawns some RWD Acura's, IE 2011 RL etc.

I think it gets 'orange' around 8.5k (like a warning zone), but actually redlines at 9k. Just my

Thats what I was thinking... we can't be sure from those pics but some cars also have a dotted or "pre-redline" red zone

Actual redline is 6000 (its low, I know ) but the "red zone" begins at 5500

Some cars its even more solid and harder to tell from a distance and from a blurry picture. In the blurry NSX picture I see a faint hint of the black background of the gauges peeking out at 8600 and 8800 rpm on the red zone.

all i know is that the nsx is going to have that odd grill that is on the 09 TL, TSX, and RL and that won't be good.
