now, the question is how much of this will make it from concept to production? Im sorry to see that it didnt remain exotic like its predecessor was, but it certainly isnt ugly at all.

I miss the pop-up headlights from the old NSXs. Was some law passed banning the integration of pop-up headlights, because I've seen them disappear on the Vette, MR2 and the NSX. Or am I just being silly? It saves weight, but c'mon....

I see potential in this car, but just don't call it the next NSX.

The 2nd Gen NSX could look completely different then this concept or the HSC...

Funny, I absolutely hate pop-ups. If I ever got an older NSX, first thing I would do is to do a headlight conversion.

guys.. correct me if I am wrong. As far as I know SH-AWD really is a FWD system but transfer torque to the designated wheel(s) when the system sense traction lost. If the new NSX will use the same SH-AWD, then it is pretty much a V10 FWD + torque transfer to the back only when it is need.

Neither the vette or NSX got HIDs until they moved to fixed headlights.
But fixed headlights are cheaper and consist of less mechanical moving parts...ie parts that can fail and freeze in the winter (ever notice how a lot of older cars with pop-ups "wink" at you in the winter?)

But I'm not sure if SH-AWD is technically a "system" of components or a Honda "concept" of AWD.
I am leaning towards it being a "concept" of AWD. By this I mean that the components that make up the system may be totally different, but the ability to actively transfer torque to the rear wheels as well as side-to-side in the rear wheels is the concept they call "SH-AWD".
I believe this because I think the systems in the CRV/RDX and the RL/MDX are more or less different systems. The CRV/RDX is 4cyl based on a totally different platform than the 6cyl based RL/MDX. But the RDX, even though having what I believe is majorly different AWD components, has the ability to actively transfer torque side-to-side on the rear...therefore it has the same "concept", but not the same system.
So let's say that this concept car has SH-AWD... it can be a RWD based model (engine palced mid-ship), but have an AWD system that can actively transfer torque to either rear wheel...again it may have totally different components than FWD-based cars with SH-AWD, but it will have the SH-AWD concept.
but this is just my guess so I can be totally wrong, and this could be a FWD based car with the same SH-AWD components as the RL.

^^^^^You can have an AWD system that has a rear-drive bias. You definitely wouldn't want one with front drive bias in a sports car. It's just front-drive biased AWD in the RL so that its safer - but strangely enough they decided to make the SH rear-drive only.

I guess to everyone saying this is not, "omg enough" for you or not something that shouts out at you, I have to ask... when has Acura ever had anything that screams, "look at me!"
Look at the DB9, that car is so totally understated its ridiculous, yet when seen in person it has non-car enthusiasts staring at it for what seems like hours on end.
Personally I think its what an Acura should be. A JP version of a DB9.

the problem is not whether making the SH-AWD system front or rear biased...the problem is that if it has the same system of components as the RL, it will be a FWD-based car meaning front heavy, which is not a good thing for a sports car.
If this car IS definitely a RWD-based car (as in to make it AWD, it needs TWO driveshafts), then it will most definitely ahve different components than the fwd-based AWD system of the RL.
I may not have much faith in Honda, but i do have enough faith to believe they aren't stupid enough make a car like this a FWD-based car, so I'm going with the former that it is a definitely a RWD based car with a totally different AWD system than the RL, but if i believe correctly that SH-AWD is a concept and not a collection of components, then it it's totally possible that it can have SH-AWD and not share a single AWD compoent with the RL.

The sizzle in the Steak
It's a nice design...but not jaw dropping. I hope this does not become the next NSX....this better be a concept for a new coupe. If this ends up being the next NSX, then Acura dropped the ball, yet again.....either that, or Acura no longer wants to build a supercar.

Case in point. "I have $300k to spend on a car. Am I going to get a Ferrari or an Acura. Hmm, let me think about that for .000784 seconds."
I think this is a good move for them; however as others have stated, I just hope they name it something other than NSX.

Then get the HSC from the closet, drop the V10 in the rear, keep it RWD and then you've got the next NSX.

I'm the Firestarter
This makes me thing of two things:
- A Japanese version of the Vette
- A better-looking GT-R
It's not bad... not Ferrari-class like the old NSX was, but not bad. More like Vette/Viper-class.

NSX don't need no stinkin' heavy SH-AWD!!! I still don't understand folks who have a constant hard-on for SH-AWD. Yes, it's a nice feature, but it's not the answer for everything.

As for why Honda lovers get such a hard on for SH-AWD, I think it's more that they get excited about something that is NOT FWD. The reality is, I think most Hondacura enthusiasts would like a RWD sports car or sports sedan from Honda. Since this will basically never happen (S2000 and NSX notwithstanding), everyone gets excited about the next best thing - AWD.

I like that the concept is very radical in the same vein as an R8. I bet that in black in would look unbelievable
However, it obviously needs some work with regards to the rear window which is currently a mere slit.
The overall proportions of the concept match the 599 Fiorano. Long wheelbase, long hood, short deck, swoopy profile, but the design is much more daring. However, at least for now, I still think it lacks the exotic flavor of the original NSX.
Btw, if you look at the front of the concept, you'll see that it almost looks like it has pop up headlights like the old NSX.

I know that AWD does offer some traction advantages even on dry pavement, but I'm not sure it's worth the additional weight and complexity.
Might just be me that can't buy into AWD (superduper handling or not).... Porsche sold alot of C4's (awd) 911's.

I just wonder if there putting in the SH-AWD because its not a true RWD platform (which would be crazy) or because SH-AWD will truly make the car handle better. Or maybe its just marketing.

I watched the Acura presentation video and I think it's title should be changed to "Honda, the Power of Nightmares". The only emotion that I had watching this video was nausea, if it was an emotion. That has got to be the ugliest car I've ever seen. What the hell is Acura thinking; oh, it was designed in the good ol USA which probably explains everything.

Do you know BMW Z4, X5, and other BMW models are based on the sketches done by the USA design team in CA?

Acura pulled an over/under with these two recent concepts. The Sedan Concept was WAY over the top and I think this sports car concept was too understated.

they should have unveiled this car back when they unveiled the HSC, and unveiled the HSC now.
the HSC is head and shoulders the more exciting of the 2.
