Ooh, that would be hot if this were the coupe version of the next RL & not the NSX. Granted not likely but it still would be nice ....

I'm confused now. Someone make sense of what we have seen these last few days.

Looks like a coupe version of this very hot looking sedan. I think it has a very good stance and basic proportions. Not sure if it looks like an exotic sports car and/or an NSX replacement, but whatever it is, it looks good.

I had a couple of doubts myself
1. Too small to be an NSX. A V10 might fit in that, but there no way it could be behind the front axle, which is what Acura is shooting for.
2. How do we know this is an NSX?
I'm more inclined to believe that this is some other vehicle that Acura is readying...which would be quite a pleasant surprise. Given the proportions, its obviously RWD. It would be fantastic, if it looks anything like that four door coupe rendering.

Clearly something in the early stages of testing, where this latest photo is obviously something much farther along.

Still curious as to what tipped them off that this is even an Acura: normally the grill/badge or something would be a hint or it would resemble a previous concept but this one seems out of the blue.

Maybe they knew the drivers were from Honda and the NSX is the only car Honda is coming out with that would remotely resemble this one. The brakes would lead one to believe this car has some type of AWD system.

how handsome I am
Those tailpipes look waaaay cooler than the IS-F's.
It seems like this might be the new NSX, but who knows. Any coincidence that in one of the pics there was a red vette tailing the thing?
The camo looks pretty cool too.

and I agree, it looks sort of like a front-engine Ferrari from the lines you can see.
I see that the car's riding on Potenzas so that almost guarantees that its a Honda/Acura or Nissan/Infiniti or Toyota/Lexus and its likely not to be the latter two companies. I also noticed the characteristic door accent line, not sure what to call it, but that same line that the 3G TL has across the side. The shape of the car reminds me a bit of a 350Z though, especially the 3/4 view

You've likely seen all the spy shots from KGP Photography already, but Brenda Priddy & Co. got some shots of their own. There's already been a lot of discussion surrounding the KGP shots in our forums, and at least one user is questioning whether this car is really the NSX, or perhaps some other new "sub-NSX" sports model as the photos make this car appear rather small. Also, notice the Z06 in the background of the first pic, apparently being used as a benchmark during this test session. A while back there were some rumors that Acura was working on a sub-NSX sports car that would be priced in the $50-60k bracket, a so-called Corvette-fighter. Considering the fact that the next-gen NSX isn't expected to debut until the Tokyo motor show in 2009, it's possible that this car, which appears largely finished, could be that long-rumored mid range sports coupe.

I agree with the others, this isn't the NSX.

I just popped into TOV and they are speculating it might be the rumored sub-nsx sports coupe. Exactly what I was thinking, but, who knows.

The current Z06 has 505hp, and the upcoming ZR1 has 638hp. If this sub-NSX sports car is a Corvette fighter, then the real NSX will have to have 800-900hp to be qualify as the Acura flagship supercar.

Fukui Tells Honda R&D: NSX Must be Faster Around the Nurburgring Than the GT-R
NÜRBURG, Germany — The latest prototype of the 2011 Acura NSX has hit the Nürburgring, and according to our sources in Japan, it has a very specific goal. We're told that Takeo Fukui, CEO of Honda, has tasked his R&D team with building an NSX that's faster around the Nürburgring than both the Nissan GT-R and the upcoming Lexus LF-A.
It's a tall order, and one that Honda hopes it can achieve through the use of a 5.5-liter V10 expected to make 550 horses, with a torque peak expected to top 420 pound-feet. The engine is essentially a slightly larger version of the V8 that Honda will use for the next-generation, rear-wheel-drive RL sedan, and it will use cylinder deactivation under light loads for maximum efficiency. Additional gains will come from the use of an eight-speed, paddle-shifted automatic.
Getting the power to the ground will be a modified version of Honda's Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) system. Packaging could be tight, however, as this NSX will place its V10 up front. A combination of steel and aluminum will be used for the chassis that will form the basis of this 2+2 sports car.
What this means to you: The Acura NSX is less than two years away, and it's aiming to reclaim its title as Japan's ultimate supercar. — Ed Hellwig, Lead Senior Editor

IMO, as long as it's rear-drive based (better weigh distribution) with a lot of exotic materials to keep it light (at least less than the GT-R), packing a V10, and decent looking, it'll be a step forward for Acura.
Good enough to be an NSX successor? Unless it's ultralight, RWD, with a mid or rear mounted engine, hells no! But anything with an engine larger than a V6 and not FWD based and doesn't rely soley on "value and reliability" is a step forward for Acura.

I think Honda has completely lost it.
First they want the new NSX to be a "big GT" car to go against the Mercedes SL and Bentley Continental GT. Then they want it to be one notch up from the Corvette fighter. Now they want it to be a GT-R/LF-A fighter.
Honda, please make up your mind because 2010 is coming up real fast to go back to the drawing boards again !

Hmmm, I like it but I doubt it will be as fast as the GT-R and thats trouble if this thing is supposed to cost more than twice as much as the Nissan....
