Honda has been doing a damn good job keeping info to themselves.

I like the design philosophy of Lotus, "Performance through low weight".
The last NSX did a great job of keeping the weight down by using what was at the time (1992) cutting edge technology. It's just too bad that acura let the NSX age a little too long before planning a replacement.
I also find it bizarre and perplexing that Acura will stop production of a car, and not have it's replacement scheduled for release until YEARS later... that's just poor planning... Not having a MY2000 CL was one thing, but not having any kind of coupe in the Acura lineup for the forseeable future is just wrong...
Hopefully once they finish up the NSX they can come up with a CL replacement...

Exactly!
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure whatever Honda builds will be fantastic - but I'd simply prefer they stick to the original NSX concept: simplicity, lightwight, hi-revving v-tec.
SH-AWD is great, it just doesn't belong on the NSX.

Rumours From TOV.
Acura V10 engine / sports car.
Well, as almost every month / week, “Bestcar” has another look at a possible Acura sports coupe, and some talking about the upcoming Honda V10. Although announced as a “Top Secret” scoop, as always I wouldn’t really put to much emphasis on the accuracy of this information. They also claim though to have had an interview with somebody that has seen a real concept. Here is in short what they say though:
* It will arrive in ’08, together with the introduction of the Acura brand in Japan.
* Honda will give a clear design clue in Detroit in the Acura PR event (that apparently that man has seen).
* V10 powerplant will be a 4.5L, smaller than current BMW’s M5 and the upcoming Lexus V10. They also say that it would have a V angle of 95º, similar to F1 engines, and that for that reason the body will have to be wider. It should reach around 120PS/L with max output of 550Hp. Power is said to come to the wheels through a Semi-AT transmission.
* Platform is said to be a newly developed FR+SH-AWD setup, together with a new suspension design, and inheriting an all aluminium body construction from past-gen NSX.
* Style is said to be more in the line of British GT’s than Italian Ferraris. According to the source, he can’t really find similarities with other cars on the road, although he says that you could say it’s a Honda (Acura), but that you couldn’t think of it as a NSX successor.
* Price would be in line with past-gen NSX (priced around 10 – 12 Million yen), which would be considerably cheaper than Lexus targeted price of 15-20 MYen for their GT-car. Please do not translate those figures into dollars at today’s rates. Car prices in Japan have remained unchanged for really long time despite Yen recent depreciation. For sure overseas market’s prices would be more expensive than just translating the currencies.

i can understand you guys arguing for F/R, but the things I like about the Mid-engined design are:
1. It sets Acura up for a chance to claim "NSX heritage" or something along those lines as a selling point.
2. I am a person who enjoys tradition; the Corvette, Ferrari's racing. I was hoping Honda would continue the (quite young) "tradition".
3. It worked absolute wonders for the previous model. In time the 3.2 V6 became outdated yet the design of the car made it so good on the track.
Just my opinion. I'm sure they'll get it right though.

i don't have much faith in Honda/Acura these days. I could even see them shelve these plans so they can crank out another SUV.

Gosh I'm criticizing Honda/Acura again because this NSX looks a bit like the next gen Accord coupe design.
That makes no sense to design a projected $90,000 NSX and a projected $30,000 Accord coupe a bit alike.
At least the Nissan GT-R looks a lot different than the 350Z and G35 coupe.
Also, what is the fascination of Acura putting circular taillights? I have circular taillights on the TSX and I actually think it doesn't flow with the rest of my car.
Circular taillights aren't that innovative and they should make it have different looking taillights maybe more upscale LED sexy pattern like one found on the G35 coupe.
What happened to you Acura??? First the ugly Advanced sedan and now a ho-hum sketch of the NSX makes me want to puke about what will Acura offer next.

I'm not buying those pictures at all, but IF that is what the design is leaning toward, I'm giving up the little love left for Acura I have left. That's in no way a supercar design.
Now if they make that the CL
Now if they make that the CL

IMO, the HSC concept looked pretty good.

Not that you can judge anything by that interpretation, but if it looks anything like a "GT" type of car that makes up my mind to look for a 2005 model. It's going from a fighter plane design to a cargo plane, but as others have said you can't really say much until it's official.

how handsome I am
its a great looking little car and would make for a fantastic coupe in the Acura lineup, but it should definitely not be the next NSX. Period.
The NSX in my eyes will always be an exotic. This thing, though beautiful, is not.

Well if you look back to the old NSX. It was a simple exterior design, but the car performed like a supercar. No doubt that this car is made from the same principles.

I think all of us can agree it would make a better legend. Its a nice car and i have seen pics like this before. I believe 100% that that is a real acura....but whether or not a nsx sucessor we dont know.
Also i would like to point out that the engine shot is the mugen V10 with ITBs with a hood scoop just like the Legend Max pretty much...so defienently not what you will see under the hood of the real production model
