Help Removing Stock Head Unit

I just had to replace my battery in my CL and found out that I lost the code to my stock HU. I need to get the serial number off the back of the HU so they can give me my code (or charge me $75 to do it for me

I've never taken out the HU in this car. After removing the wood trim, looks like you may have to remove the whole console to get to the unit. Is this right?

I've looked all over the forum for a walk-thru but can't seem to find one. If anyone knows of any links or can give me a lil' info would be great. THANKS.

Sorry man, I searched your posts back like 3 months and didn't find anything. Just a bunch of posts on "FS: AVElectronic Navigation TV Tuner System ".

try opening your glove box and look at the side panel which faces the driver. on my car the radio code is printed on this panel. i can't remember if its marked directly on the plastic or if its printed on a tag which is stuck on the panel.

i know this becuase the dealer gave me the wrong code ID card when i bought the car. a week later he sent me a new code ID card. i didn't know which card to believe and i wasn't going to disconnect the battery just to find out.

one of my collegues told me to check the glove box panel. sure enough it matched one of the radio code ID cards. i now believe one of them.

see if a 5 digit code is marked on the glove box panel on your car.

Thanks for the try, but unfortunately there is nothing on this inside, outside or anywhere near my glovebox. I really need to pull the head unit but I don't know if I'm suppose to remove the entire console, ash tray, and notepad holder thing before I can take out the stereo.

Yes you do need to remove everything around the center console including the console itself. After you take out everything in the center, you also need to take off the plastic piece that is under the steering wheel-the big one. Then you should be able to take out the radio.

Thanks for the help. I just wanted to make sure that taking everything apart was the right way to remove it. It woulda sucked if I had removed everything and found out there was a simpler way.
