upgrading subwoofer, anyone?

The sub on the krell system is really lacking for my taste. i'm not sure if its the woofer itself or the unit sending it garbage.

back in the day, I would replace everything between and including headunit and speakers ... cant quite do that these days with all the integration and benzel around the head unit.

I'm thinking of adding a single 12" woofer in the trunk, box would not be huge, but I image I'd need a preamp input for the new amp. Anyone know of anything that I can use to bypass the factory amp to the sub?

Has anyone tried upgrading their sound system, either amp or speakers or both?

Unplug the woofer and use a line level converter to the amp. Worked great in the RL. Not sure if the RLX has noise cancelling mics, in the RL the rear mic needed to be unplugged for feedback issues.

The Krell free air sub is definitely lacking.

Anyone know where the factory amps are at? I would like to tap into the signal before it reaches the amp.

anyone try to pass 4ga or 0/1ga wire thru the firewall? Options look limited ... in my TL i had to drill a hole thru firewall which scared the crap out of me while i was doing it.

I haven't seen anyone try it. Are you taking pics as you go along with your install? That will benefit the next person to undertake what you're doing.
