Agreed! Even if it would cost $500. It would have made so much sense to have in in the Type S. Acura doesn't make sense tbh sometimes. Like just bad business decisions lol! I also believe they should have installed MDX digital gauges in Type S just for those who are really interested it. At the end of the day, people are paying big bucks for the Type S. It's not like $40K.

Wow, so much drama about the trunk. No way I'm going to use my Type S to haul some big bulky items even if they fit in there. That's what wife's car is for. The backseat are more than sufficient for my small kids. They can't cater to everyone. If it doesn't meet your needs....MOVE ON and get something else. Type S was always a niche car with low sales volumes. This will be no different.

Given that the production numbers are so low a second trim seems unlikely anytime soon even though it’s arguably what they should be doing.
What I’m honestly shocked by is the lack of a PMC “launch” edition that is fully loaded. Why have the PMC if not for this exact f*cking reason? Maybe one is coming and they’re saving it til the very very last minute - but I’d have to believe it would be a part of these media drives - it’s a HUGE miss for Acura to not have one in an NSX color and with all the features.

Can't see saving the HUD/Glass Dash for the refresh. Acura has been in the toilet as far as a performance sedan for a long time. Best marketing plan for revival is to hit every hot button in the "SPORT Sedan" segment. As much as someone might like the look of the Quad exhausts the driver spends 99.0% of his/her time inside the car looking out the windshield. If the car will outrun the Audi they will be pretty much where the 3G/4G TL was against the other cars. Personally if I was in their marketing group the car would have all the visuals a sport sedan driver expects to see.
Expect the drama is all about a "see we are serious" piece that cuts some utility out of the car. Its a cheap solution in place of building a hoop that will fit around the opening. Its nice that you & me can also use our SUV's, Trucks, other brand sport sedans ect to carry other stuff. They made a decision to force a one car family to really think about this car being right for them to save a few bucks in manufacturing.

BTW its a car why would you not haul whatever will fit into it without any damage?

Why is that? I used an STI as the primary baby hauler...worked decently well enough. Car seat actually fit in better than the wife's TLX.

BTW How about a 2 car family whose other car is a Civic, Miata, Sentra? I went a lot of years where my other car was a Stingray, Japanese or British sports car. I was also a 1 car family with a409/425/, GTO Tri-Power RamAir Royal Bobcat. Became a two car family when I added the 67 Stingray 427/435. You really think the brace is a good solution for a 4000LB+ car that is over 16ft long?

Lol what are you guys hauling in your sedans. This obviously isn’t the vehicle or any sedan is if you need that much space. Just get a SUV and move on.

Wrong, I had to use my A4 to bring a 10 seat table (180''+) and storage cabinet (200''+) from Ikea since a Ford Edge was too short. Just because you have a crossover doesn't mean you get to say goodbye to delivery fees. So now people need both a long and short crossover too for duties?

😁 not sure if you can see under there but my sedan carried those bricks, not on one shot. Lost counts on Home Depot visits (2x4, 4x4, sheetrocks, vinyl rolls, carpets), anything that fits. I once moved a whole dorm room for my sister, with TV and small fridge.

I can only imagine some Acura Torrance employees reading AZ and some of these comments about the Type-S's rear panel K (chevon) bracing.
Little amused Acura dressed up the K junction with a plastic cover with "Type-S" molded into it. Curious if the bracing is welded or bolted in.

+1, waiting for the tale how their A4 took them to Puerto Rico and back hauling 20 cases of Nutella for hurricane relief

And did they spend $50K+ plus on their one and only single car?
I stand by my comment that I do not see that many families willing to spend $50K+ on their only car and choosing a TLX Type S if the seats fold down and there was no brace.
All of the same people complaining now about the brace are the same people who have already mentioned that the rears seat room was already a dealbreaker. Also, those same people that appear to have multiple cars in their households with a suv/truck.
Don't get me wrong, I love the utility of a hatchback or sportback. I once moved apartments when I was single in just my 95 Integra coupe because it was a hatchback and the seats folded down. Also, although I currently own a 3G TL Type S with seats that don't even fold down, if I had to downsize from my current 4 cars down to 1, and choose an Acura product, it would either be the RDX/MDX Type S, or a TLX Wagon Type S, not this sedan.

It is a shame HUD is not offered on the Type S. Now that I have experienced it on the TLX Advance-I will want this feature on all my future vehicles.

Married guys? Or family guys with kids? There is a big different in what they will be looking for in a car.

On another note, I noticed all the reviewers (at least from youtube) seemed very impressed. The only person didn’t have any impression was Alex
Now let’s wait for May 20th I am sure there will be tons of speculations by people here or on Facebook groups, but since the 2-3 days of testing are done. It’s better to wait and see real results rather I think or he or she thinks. Time to enjoy the weekend!

This is where you are wrong, plus we are talking about family guys here (even though I said married). I for instant, I had a G35 couple when I married with the first kid for few years, then to a 3G TL, then to an Audi A6 albeit the previous 2 cars were under $50K, all with single car (let me be clear, wife and kid and no, wife was not stay at home mom). My friends one with Audi S4 and the other guy a BMW 335i, there were also married with families and single cars.

Surfboards fit in all my Coupes with the back seats down. Better there than on the roof. There are more reasons to have a clear space to put things in than not. If it fit I preferred to drive the car. As for the SUV thats something to drive when you have too.
The point is the standard cars construction was apparently to soft to take the loads that might be imposed by the Type-S suspension. So they did a quick & dirty patch job instead of strengthening the basic structure like everybody else does. Its either that or its just cosmetic to impress the boys. You guys are really a lot of fun. What makes some of you think that no one would buy a $50,000 car as their only car? A $50,000 car in the days of $90,000 pick-up trucks is not what it used to be. You really need to get out more. People buy what they like & can afford.

My thought is why build in a potential fault when there are other better ways to solve the stress issue. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall when the engineers came in with "Houston we have a problem". The suspension is over stressing the unibody. Expect the accountants won the battle on what fix to implement. At least I hope thats what happened.
Worse case it was some marketing genius that said let's give it some race car cred with exposed bracing.

OK, so you are saying that if the TLX Type S did NOT have that brace, that you will buy one? Why did you get rid of your all purposeful A6 sedan and not buy another sedan? Also, knowing 2 guys out of countless other family guys that have more than 1 car doesn't exactly mean it's commonplace.
Knowing two guys within my few friends is a lot if you ask me and let me say this again. My EVIL plan is to talk my wife to trade her Clarity in for the Type-S but with that brace, I can tell you that she will not get it. Everyone has different expectations in a car man, I don't know why it's hard for you to understand that.

I am not sure what you are trying here, but let me please you on that without getting into my personal life. At that time wife finished her med school and started working, at the same time I landed a job where I have to drive (CT, MA, RI, ME, NH) a lot, and the A6 was not the right choice. We got her the Nissan Versa (she was too scared to drive A6), I got the Subaru Legacy for work and the second kid came. Later on, we got her a new V6 Accord and I got the Nissan Rogue from another new job. After the Accord, we got the Honda Clarity and properties instead of cars. Last year, we were supposed to get the A7 but then fell in love with the Q8 at first sight when I visited the showroom. I hope that pleased you!

Anyways, here's another view of the trunk and brace. Good luck on convincing your wife!
Trunk at 18:56 or so...

Again, if I need to haul something big and bulky once a year (if that), I'm renting some POS Uhaul and not going to load it in my $60K performance sedan. There are plenty of S4, 340, C43 AMG is my neck of the woods. Most of the time I see them hauling Starbucks cups and laptop bags......
