Wish it was a live debut. It rally is hard to get a good feel for the car from just videos. With that said, i do like what i see, but have to see more and read up more on it.

Nice...except MAZDA wants their rear end and steering wheel back...jmho...would make a great daily for the wife if she doesn't go the GS350 route....Acura if you're listening Type S with less than 360 HP/TQ in 2021 would be a joke....
#1764
I watched it, but if the base TLX will be 272 Hp I'm guessing the Type S will be about 350 Hp, I'm not impressed, not when in today's world that's laughable. Ohh and with all those added electronic gizmos you can bet the Type S is going to be over $60,000.
#1765
It's alright but I'm not really that excited which is a let down. If they price this right it's a nice package but if they get greedy and get close to Germans forget it. It will sit on their parking lots. This just might push me over the edge to Audi. I'm already at the cliff point
#1767
I saw the video. No pricing, no Type S power numbers. Boooooooooo. Obviously, they are not done yet.
The looks are great, the dedicated sport platform is great, the user-modifiable drive features are great, the interior looks great, but the most important stuff was left out of the reveal. At first glance, the car seems fantastic. However, without data or time until on sale, I’m not ready to put my low-mileage Accord up for sale.

All that hype to say Type-S is coming next year with details to follow before release, meh. New TLX looks alright but nothing about it blows me away, it's only catching up with the competition.
With the Type-S being a first year model in 2021 and new TLX being meh, I'm be skipping Acura next year. Will be looking at 2021 Arteon/Stinger/A5 SB since all of them are getting updates so Acura may need to do more changes to catch up again.

I think Acura is cautious right now to release the Type-s numbers. But who knows, it may actually shock us..

This is going to be probably one of the best performing luxury sedans. I feel like numbers won't speak until you actually drive it due to their SH-AWD system. This car is looking great so far. Very impressed about that "Individual" drive mode selection available finally. I will definitely play around with that. You can turn off Auto Start Stop through the Individual Drive mode for anyone who dislikes that feature. It also looks very comfortable and spacious.

So the automotive press is saying Type S will not be available for another year. At least the base TLX numbers are strong. The base engine is essentially an uptuned version of the 2.0 in my Accord. Based on my experience with this engine so far, base TLX owners will be super-happy. I’ve never lacked for highway passing power. Of course, I have a manual tranny and that adds to the fun, but the 10AT and 2.0T combo are pretty nice.
So I know at this point I’ll be in my Accord a minimum of another year.

if you think the type s will be under 60k as their flagship sedan you are tripping. I’m still predicting 60k fully loaded.
#1773
I see a lot of 10th Gen Accord in the front end. I'm happy they made the car bigger.

One of my main criteria was for it to be functional with a liftgate, not getting something that's almost the same as my current A4.

I am confident, the TLX will stand very close to C class and 3 series soon Just the way the RDX has done it! There is a old saying: History Repeats....and the 2004 history will repeat again in 2020/01!

Also, i respect your opinion and by no means I am trying to disrespect your choice. I just believe you moved on to German brands and definitely they are ahead of the Japanese. I cannot argue that. So, it will be difficult to come back.

I see you have a 4G TL? Let's see what this next gen TLX has in store once it's on the roads and we can test drive them.

I can see the ASpec being the best selling version. Nice power at 272HP with ample torque. It will look aggressive and have just about everything you need for about $40-$42K.. I wish it was an all digital dash, but overall, I think it looks really good.
Anyone else not loving those 10-spoke rims on the Type S?

No power figures on the Type S makes me think that the numbers really aren't that impressive. The fact that pricing isn't revealed makes me think they're asking too much money compared to performance compared to what's out there, and they know it. I'm guessing it's going to be around mid-$50k to start, much like the sales nightmare that is the Q50 Red Sport. For a bit more, the majority are going to go German. Type S is going to be a sales flop and Acura will say people aren't looking for performance sedans anymore ... yet the Germans keep churning them out.

An Accord with the 2.0T with a tune set for higher octane would get you very close to CTR numbers. That's why I'd never consider the base TLX. I couldn't care less about the badge on the car. If they put the Type S powertrain in a Honda, named it the Takesitintheass and priced it in the $40k range, I'd buy one tomorrow ...
#1787
Lol Honda would be taking a page from Nissan with them outclassing the Maxima by putting all the goodies in the Altima.

I love my 4thG. I test drove the TLX and it wasn't bad at all. Especially the A-SPEC is a great deal. But my family situation was different, second kid, bought a house and didn't feel to buy a new car too much pressure.
But, yes we will try the new TLX. I am still undecided but I think I will go with Type S this time.

There's no way. The M340i AWD and C43 (AWD standard) start at $56k. Both will likely outperform the Type S and hold more prestige. I think even being in the $50k range is going to be bad news for Acura sales (personally, I'd opt for the M340i without a second thought if the Type S is that close ... and you'd be a fool not to as well), but in the mid-$60k range, you'd have to be a downright moron to buy it. Both aforementioned sedans have been out for a few years now, it's not like the Germans are leapfrogging Acura out of the blue. If they can't be competitive against their rivals, their sales figures are going reflect such. Even the Audi S4 starts at under $50k, another knock against the Type S if it's in the $50k range.

Glad they stuck with the concept's wheels albeit 1" smaller for the Type S. Looks good.

Honda’s VTM-4 has the same hardware as the previous gen SH-AWD, so it kind of already has it.

I read that it's still not the same and only those Honda CUVs have them lol.
But if you can provide a definite link/source, I'd appreciate it. But I think from the video, it says 70% of power to the rear like in the RDX. Maybe the 3rd gen was 60% to the rear? Not that I drive like an ahole anyway.
Even Toyota's TVD is nothing like Lexus' TVD on the RCF and GSF.

Now that someone pointed it out I can't un-see it. The rear door handle looks like it's in the wrong spot. Weird how they lined it up with the body flares and not just even horizontally.

Well, this new Type S certainly photographs well! Looks good at every single angle, except the rear (minus the pipes and diffuser, which are lovely). I'm interested:

The BMW 330xi has 255HP. M340i has an advertised 382HP. That’s almost a 130HP difference. Which is precisely what would get Acura to 400HP. Then again, as I said earlier, the fact that they haven’t released the power or performance numbers is telling that it’s nothing to brag about.
