Trust me, I’ve come close to locking the thread several times and not just with this thread…and I’m still considering it.

I understand but fortunately I don't think that will be necessary, overall it's a pretty civil bunch around here and many learn a lot from these discussions.

....and it's the only reason why we're 8 pages in. Let's just try to navigate this back towards the original topic.

just as many of have suspected. Acura really has left a lot meat on the bone with this car. I am assuming since its their first V6 twin turbo of this particular design they intentionally released the vehicle with conservative power numbers.

Older Type-S's were never drag strip cars...and look at the last '07-08 TL-S. More power, more torque, firmer suspension, Brembo brakes, etc. It's a higher level performer, not a track car. And one that can do so with luxury refinement. Click this thing over to Comfort mode (I do often) and friends think it's a full on luxury ride.

Fast, but is fast with real world SH-AWD insane grip, and a super luxurious ride feel on the road. Everyone who rides in mine compliments the "wow, such a nice ride" then I shock them, hard throttle roaring around a corner. Lexus IS is no comparison, (and a V8 RWD model is $15-20k more), Genesis sedans are close but a horrific buying experience with sketchy resale, really it just comes down to the most common comparos "but I could have an Audi or BMW for a bit more..." True.

Yes, you can. But this offers a different feel, higher end SH-AWD grip, and different ownership experience. Still no regrets from mine, and I have polar opposite cars between it and my new Wagoneer. Glad I have it. A "car" isn't my normal pick, but still love the seating feel & space up front in this one, and the feel. Again, I was considering "I need a Scat Pack...or a Hellcat...or..." for speed and comfort, but now have strong power and all season/crazy handling AWD with it.

For $54k (again, as is, not a base base Audi/BMW, etc.), and sans tons of added accessories, there's not much at this price point like it.

Parked mine in my Wagoneer spot last night to further confuse the neighbors “another car?!?”😂

Too true. I've yet to drive mine in snow, but looks fun--good commentary.

Very excellent! I agree the about the grip. Very much grips! You can really feel it under throttle making a left turn.

I'm pretty sure the answer is "yes, duh" but would basic mods like this void your factory warranty?

The Type-S does not have twin turbo.

Let’s also remember this is a Type S and not a Type R as it sounds like people were expecting the best of the best from Honda/Acura.
First will agree the S is not an R. Have given up trying to get that across. That is why I want to see a Dyno sheet that shows what equipment, fuel is on the S getting +80WHP

Depends on design & room where the stock FMIC is located. Also some even just slightly larger that stock have better air management & heat transfer capabilities. BMW is stock with a 5" unit. Many but not all, some cheap knockoffs, aftermarkets at 5", worked very well & are superior to a factory 5" piece. There were also 7" units that did not impede airflow to the radiator but did require trimming some of the plastic.

Since 2011 all my cars have had these openings for air management except for the Air Curtains IIRC. Increasing the FMIC had no negative effect on coolant

Remember BMW cars like the M340 & all M cars have a main radiator, oil cooler, FMIC. Secondary Coolant radiator & brake ducts up front. Doubt the use most type S will be subject to will tax a aftermarket FMIC. Could dig through my old ambient air temp vs throttle body inlet temp data but will just say there was a substantial reduction aftermarket vs stock.

That's why some marketing departments call them "Twin Power Turbo" for duel scroll when they changed from actually having two turbos. The 2011 335 is an example. The 335 says TPT on the plastic cover. The 2011 335is which actually has two turbos says nothing on the plastic cover. Automotive marketing departments seem to be paid specifically to tap dance.

Today my Z4 says Mperformance for its twin scroll engine while my M4C just says M Power for a two turbo engine. Its all BS.

What is funny all the prior we don't care about 0-60 etc seems to fading in light of the BMS JP4.

Granted I'm not an expert on the subject but according to CR (which I trust over any other source): "Acura's rank is eighth overall [in reliability]. The TLX has exhibited impressive reliability in its first year after a redesign" For what it's worth JD Power (which I don't trust nearly as much) also ranked Acura pretty highly in dependability as well.

There are already a few nagging issues with the TLX and I suspect more to come in the future, but I suspect not at a rate/severity worse than any other competitor short of a Lexus IS/ES.

I don't expect any deviation from traditional Honda/Acura reliability with the TLX including the Type-S. YMMV but in general Honda/Acura have been consistently good to very good in long term reliability and dependability over the decades.

Cute little one! Someone drives in normal mode…😀. What accent theme do you guys use? I forgot the name, but I use the one with red top/white bottom colors. There’s so many colors….

Thanks! He's been fun so far. It's been 4 years since our last dog.

On a car related note. I've been trying out the auto setting for the seats and it's nice having the heat turn on based on the temperature. Looking forward to see how they respond as the season changes and using the ventilated option more.

I'm now pondering about whether to try out the JB4. Would like to see a little more about how others are doing, but I'm also pretty happy with how the car is stock. But wouldn't complain about some mild gains.

Type s no regrets

Just got my tiger eye pearl 5 days ago & man I'm enjoying it this is my third Acura & this is by far my favorite, I'm not a guy that races my cars I just like luxury sports cars & this is it. I love the smooth power & the awesome sound system, certainly glad I got it, now all I need is the side skirts which are on backorder.
