You know how people will say "oh, she/he is not my type" do you find that meeting people outside "your type" works? I know I have a type and clearly they are not working for me- but its what I like or believe I like.

I ask because I am talking to a girl who is not my "type" but really cool and I know would treat me right. We have a good time as friends and I suspect she would be interested in taking things to the next level. She has her act together and knows what she wants from life- which is not typical of my "type".

I ask this because she is not my "type", while I do find her to be attractive, she is not what I normally go after- has this type of situation ever worked for any of you?

I intendid on testing the waters a bit, but am curious what you guys/gals think.

I think we all have a "type" that defines either what we're attracted to or what we usually end up with.

I definately have a physical type, and I've tried to look outside that but it hasn't worked for me because the attraction just isn't there. I always think "yeah he's cute but..." so its never a strong enough attraction to keep me with him.

I vary a little bit on personality type depending on the guy and what kind of phase of my life I'm in.
5 years ago I loved a bad boy... now that's no longer my type.

 

:whocares: Its really hard to define, because one persons definition can mean something else to another person. Im more of a looks first, personality second type guy.

 

There was some "Love Specialist" on the radio here the other day that said that attraction is based on PIE - Physical - Intellectual - Emotional in that order. So, I guess that fits right with what you're saying.

If I don't find him hot, there's little chance I would want to meet him again to discover how emotionally deep he is...

I really like athletic girls. I prefer a very independent, intelligent girl too. As for height, hair color, skin color, any of that...I couldn't care less.

 

I definately have a physical type. I like em short, heavily muscled (180-200lbs+), short hair, and an ass is a MUST. I think more I have an antitype that I won't touch with an 8 inch pole. Here's the list:

Physical Anticriteria:

1. No ass = no date, period! That booty must be muscular, and it must be on the bubblier side. Large is a bonus without being fat.

2. Long hair = instant turn OFF. Do not come anywhere near me with long hair. I will brand you as ugly without at second thought.

3. Thick moustache = instant turnoff. Go buy a damn razor, use it, and then get back to me.

4. Skinny = no second look. Go gain about 50lbs and come back to me when you don't fit in my little sister's jeans. (the fact that I don't have a sister is besides the point)

5. Chicken legs = Do not even TRY and talk to me if your thighs don't touch together. Even if you have a huge upper body.

6. Fugly face = Nice let down. If your face is ugly but you're a nice person, I'll nicely turn you down, but probably so subtly that you'll have no idea you don't have a chance in hell, in which case I will have to start getting a little more direct. What I consider ugly or cute is very subjective and depends on what that person's face looks like with respect to the rest of them.

7. If you're balding, go away. I find hair loss unattractive. Go find someone else to bother. Also, if you're balding, it means you're not in my age range. See next.

8. Too old or too young = no date. Stay in my age range dammit! ±5 years. I've learned my lessons with too old/too young.

9. Fatties need not apply. A little bit of chunkiness is okay. It's a MUCH less severe offence than being too skinny. But there is a line. If you've cross the line into the FAT zone, go away.

10. If you have ovaries, don't hit on me. Because all I can do for you is light your tampon on fire and blow up your box, because that's the only bang you're gonna get lady.

11. If you're more than a head taller than me, keep looking! If you're that tall, I won't feel comfortable dating you.

Personality/Character Traits:

1. I dont like pacifists. We may like the dick but we're not supposed to be freakin' wussies. Suck it up princess. :ghey:

2. Drug users keep off. And no alcohol abusers. How can you enjoy your life with someone else when you're already a slave to the drugs or alcohol. I drink too, but if you're doing it EVERY SINGLE night, or more than twice a week on a regular basis, that's bad.

3. If you're afraid to be seen with me, there's a problem! If you can't meet my mom and admit that you're my boyfriend to your friends, you don't need me either!

4. Be somewhat smart. I don't like to date the averge person. I want someone who's aware of what's going on around them and is able to see where they want to go in life. I NEED to be able to have serious conversations! Without that, things fall apart. I need someone with some ambition to do something good with their lives. If you're 24 and STILL work at a restaurant bussing tables, I refuse to date you unless you're saving up for higher education.

5. Have some friends! If you have no friends already because you're antisocial, then why should I be your friend too?

6. If I have to spray you with fire extinguisher after protecting myself with flame retardant, stay away! Flamey guys turn me off after a certain point. I can take a little bit here and there, but if you're so on fire that the whole damn world can spot your gayness from Uranus, don't bother even trying to strut over here biatch!

7. Be nice. Don't be abusive or mean. You can poke fun at me, but not in a hurtful way.

8. Have a sense of humour! If you can't laugh, I can't date you.

9. If you're stuck in the closet, you might as well stay there. After officially being my boyfriend, don't go telling people you're single, and don't go kissing girls for show to your friends who don't know about you!!

10. Share a little. If you have a hobby in common with me, that helps things greatly!

11. Be real and don't cheat! I hate fakers. Don't pretend about anything. I want the truth and I don't want cheaters.

i like them confident, cocky, intelligent, mature, driven and independent. and muscular. i don't care how hot a guy is, if he's not as confident as i am, or more, it won't work. i'm not attracted to shyness at all.

as for looks, i like them tan and physically fit. used to have a thing for blondes, but now i'm more into darker haired guys. more mature looking i guess.

if there is a girl that is not really in your normal spectrum, but she appears to have a good head on her shoulders, give her a chance. you may have more than one type

 

Intelligence - Able to hold a conversation without saying "like" 400 times. (biggest one for me)
Sense of humor - Can either make me laugh by getting me back with a joke or someone else.
Outgoing - Doesn't rely on her friends.
Takes care of her stuff - I hate messy women because they always screw my shit up.
And lastly, if between the months of September and January, college football and NFL are the two days a week that I have for my pleasure, you can have the other 5, but I want/need these two every week.

I have a preference for long-haired brunettes with nice asses, BUT...I've had excellent chemistry with blondes...

So, we all have a 'type', but it might not be as clear cut as our conscious mind makes it out to be...lot of subtle forces at work when it comes to love/relationships/attraction.

 

no, mainly b/c i'm very competitive, and i like to see that same "drive" in a man. i don't want to be with a guy who's a pushover, who has low self-esteem. it's very hard to explain. i guess it's another one of those "thrill of the chase" analogies. it's harder to persuade a cocky/confident guy who's set in his ways than a guy who doesn't really stand for anything.

and when i say cocky, i don't mean like, the asshole type, just guys who are confident with who they are and not afraid to put it out there. i like guys who are confident with their physical appearance too, but i am more referring to it in an intellectual sense.
