I was just wondering if you guys get comments on your car from people on the street. I've gotten alot of:
"Is that the Type S"
"That thing is really fast isn't it"
"Damn, the Type S"
"You got navigation, that is so phat"

Post any other comments you've gotten on your car

 

My most common one is "I Love the color" I get that one all the time. followed by "Car looks great". The other ones you mentioned follow these two.

I have not gotten ANY comments on mine. What is wrong with people?

 

people ask me how much it costs.. and i tell them to guess, and they say 24,000 I always thought our cars look like a 40k kind of car.. oh well. But then again this is when we are far away from the car where they cant see the inside but still!

 

I used to think the same thing, that is the TL is just an upgraded Accord. I currently own both, and the difference, is night and day in almost every aspect . The problem is that they do closely resemble each other, but thankfully they changed the headlights in 2002 in order to further differentiate the two. I used to see a pre 2002 TL coming in the rearview mirror, and thought it was an Accord. Both cars however IMHO, are good lookers.

 

That's one I got at work the other time. "Isn't that an Accord?" I said "Yup, just a bigger Accord." Guess who's not going for a fun ride to lunch with me!

Other comments? "Man, you're out here cleaning your car again?" "Can you work on my car next?"

 

Commonly asked:

1. How much does it cost??

2. I heard it's fast, no??

3. Can it beat my Civic Si??

4. "Sir, I pulled you over because you have blue headlights, and they are illegal......"

5. Is it REAL Type-S??

I've gotten comments such as, "Great car!", "Beautiful Color", "I love the interior", "...this is an Acura?", "I didn't know they were THIS nice?", "How much DO they pay you here?!?", ...etc.

Being a young professional engineer, and a bachelor, it's great with the ladies (the ones I'm interested in, that is). They love it for it's refinement. In other cases, it's sensibility, and value. Some just dig the GPS (I love saying, "just give me your address and I'll be there..."). They kinda get the impression, this guy is "mature" and on his way up the ladder.

Darn it, I just thought it looked cool, could move fast....

People usually just stare at my car where ever I go. My ex girlfriend used get annoyed because she thought everyone was staring at her. As far as comments from other people, they usually don't comment untill they see the interior and they definitely have something to say after I take them for a "quick" ride. The most common comment after the ride is... .

 

Mine's not a TypeS, but I get that all the time. Guess it's cause I wash my car a couple of times a week. Sorry, I gotta go turn off the hose.

"Bet you're monthly payments are real high" (then their mouth drops when they hear I pay $398)

Guys at Discount Tire were drooling and said
"that's such a phat ride"

After quick rides, "THAT car is fast!"

"Like this car better than your Q45" Of course, in all fairness, that came from a brother that loves speed over size and luxury.

I've had the car for two weeks or so and I notice a LOT of people taking second or third looks because of the color. Also, last week I was driving a friend home from work and some nice young ladies in an Infiniti G20 pulled up next to us in traffic and mouthed "Nice car" and gave a thumbs up. (of course it was CLEAN at the time...)

Just this past weekend i got a compliment from a woman that looked like she was around 75. She also parked about 14 inches from my car, leaving me barely enough room to get in.

"That is such a BEAUTIFUL car! My son just got the same exact car. It's the BEST. I just LOVE it! Did you get it with that rotating stereo disk?"

.."Yes, it has the CD changer"

"It just looks so BEAUTIFUL!"

... "Thank you"

And she just stood there and stared at my car as I pulled out of the parking spot and drove away.

On another note.... So far I've seen about 4 or 5 TL-S's on the road, and ALL of them have been driven by people 50+, mostly female.. What's the deal here?

 

Whatever......I had girls in other cars tell me "I like your car" "Can I ride with you" "Nice car"....Mine is silver....heheheh......I'm sure the driver has something to do with it too.

About comments way too many..... . Not as much as before, but still get some.

My favorite goes to some little 10-year old boy that I never saw or heard. My wife and I were inside H Salt getting some fish n' chips and my mother was outside the store walking by my car. She came into the store to tell me that this little 10-year old Asian boy walked by my car and said,

"Now the owner of this car has got class!"

No joke!

One thing is when at a red light, people tend to stair at the XENON headlights, and looking at me like saying "turn off your high beam mister". Then, I flash the high beam on, and they get confused....walk away and turning their head back to the headlights...

 

A manager at my work asked me today if I got a new car. He said it looked very nice. He asked "Is it an Accord". I gave him a pissed look, and he said he was just f'en with me.

Once time I was at a McDonalds Drivethru, and a pimple faced kid asked me, "Is that a BMW?". I told him it was an Acura. He said, "Ohhh" He called a couple of his co-workers over to look, and asked me how fast does it go. I can't say I ever had someone ask that about my old Accord.

Another one of my co-workers came up to me and said, "I can't believe you bought a car just like mine" She wanted to be the only 2001 TL in the parking lot. I told her not to be upset. You still have the only 2001TL in the parking lot. Mine's a 2002 TL-S She was pissed, and she hasn't spoken to me since.

 

From my dad: You paid how much? You shoulda gotten a Maxima!

From one of my buddies: "You got the Type-S?" Me: "yup." Him: "You bastard! Does it have the NAV?" Me: "yup..." Him: "Man, I hate you!"

From real estate sales lady (I parked my TL-S behind her 2001 TL): "Is that the Type-S" Me: "yes, it is." Her: "I think mine is a bit longer than yours." Me: "Really? I can hardly tell but I guess you may be right (like I really care)." Her: "Well, I'm looking to sell it because I like to drive sportscars." Me: "Like..." Her: "Maybe a Corvette or an SLK...I paid $34K OTD for my TL."
Me: "Not that it matters, but if you were still interested in TLs you coulda got a 2002 TL-S for that price and probably a bit less."
Her: (silence...)

And finally...some chick that I know: "Is that your Type-S?"
Me: "no, it's a rental car..."

at work people say "He has a Lexus" but refer to my brand new Acura TLS as <i>"the second car"</i> (to put miles on??) HA!

The TLS is a great car but public perception for this thing is sorry!
