Any advantage to getting that 40mm 2.8 if I already have a 50 1.4? The extra 10mm on the wide side is nice but I have a lens that goes wider still....

Guess my question is who's buying that lens?

My experience with the 40 2.8 is that it was sharper than the 50 1.4.

Wide open or overall?

If you stop the 50 1.4 down to 2.8 it's pretty freaking sharp...

The budget friendly person, but if you are on a budget, more chances are that you have a crop sensored camera. There will be some with a 5dc though. Imo, i wouldn't look much into it since you have that focal length covered and at night you might be regretting compensating focal length vs stops of light when you can just take a couple steps back. I think the sharpness is subjective though.

Now for the person whos looking to add a lens other than the kit lens, id highly recommend it .

^ So then why not 50 1.8? Same price, one extra stop and a half (ish) of light.

The new II makes it really hard to make the purchase of this as the build quality is alot better than the previous model. But it seems the 40 is more for the person who wants a light setup with its pancake lens.

The Lowepro bag I ordered should be here today..

Just scooped that Lexar 64GB card deal. That's 2 for one pricing! Never had a card bigger than 32GB. Stoked!

Not a fan of larger cards, unless video. Don't won't all my eggs in one basket. But sweet deal.

The orange arrived a few days ago.

It's more box shaped than I anticipated (rather than "messenger bag" slim) but it is a nice bag!

I see what you're saying. I still think they will be nice to have though. An empty one of those cards on RAW probably gives about 7000 frames..

My math was off. The 64GB card gives 2500+ photos in RAW.

The GoPro I just got came with a 32. I'm going to keep that one for my camera and put a 64 in the GoPro.

Does the GoPro do 4K? If so, you will run out fast.

If he has a Hero4 then yes. One can always lower the frame rate to 24-30fps to save some space.

I always shoot my GoPro in 1080P, I don't have a 4K TV or computer monitor so whatever.

I don't think it does. And it takes a micro sd so the 32GB card that came with it is what I'll be using.

I would shoot at the highest rate I could, memory is cheap. 4K viewing is soon to come.

It is a sweet lens, but I think I'd wait for the 23mmf/2.

Yup...I will add the 23/2 at some point as more of a walk around kit.

Saw that about the X-T1 and 35mm f2. Tempting but i would really want a silver body

btw I dislike this separate comment thread. too much organization for a low volume sub-forum.

What I'm really tempted to do is buy that package, hope to sell the lens for $350 (lose $50 on it but whatever), and basically have a brand new 2nd body for ~$450.

They have the black and then a graphite with the XT-1, XT-2 and XPro2. It's not a shining silver as that one.

only reasoning for it was that was that deals may get lost in translation or maybe mixed of multiple deals talks, but im not opposed to change if you want.

good job danny finding that. i may look into it. might buy one as well.

I take it that the X-t1bat 799 is a better deal than the X-t10 at 599? Although the X-t1 has no lense.

So I ordered the 6D Mark II body only.

i hope adorama isn't gonna screw me over on the rebate.

i just got a shipping notification for only the printer... rebate says it must show the products were purchased on the same calendar day.

Your receipt should cover you on this. The shipping notification is different from a purchase record.

Ohh ok. Invoice does say "order date 11/19/2017"

so long as all the invoices say that same order date I should be good?

In an effort to keep the commenting out of the deals thread, I'm continuing the PD discussion here. After some extra thought and hiking throughout Iceland for 10 days, I decided to up my kickstarter backing from the aluminum tripod to the carbon fiber one in an effort to carry less weight around. Excited to get it!
