2021+ Acura TLX & TLX TYPE S Sales Numbers

You have it backwards. The 8G Si came out 4 years after the RSX, and they only overlapped for one year. In other words, the Civic Si was an old RSX Type S with an LSD.
#523
My statement was not to reference a chronological order of build date but rather state Integra and civic similarities. Thanks anyways, Marc.

Ah, so you were being disingenuous on purpose then. Why else then is it worth comparing these cars across generations when the other guy was clearly referring to the current Civic Si.

Car Crazy for Sure!
pandemic, was always in the top 10 of Acura dealers in the U.S. And, they moved a LOT of vehicles, obviously. TLX's, MDX's, RDX's didn't stay on the lot very long, and
same was...is today....true, neither did pre owned units. But, one big difference....there are NO units to be on the lot for a shopper to "maybe want to buy." Can't get enough
for that. Just ordered units.
My dealer has zero TLX's on the lot as I write this. AND, the MDX's...all of them listed, coming in or just arrived...are ALL pre-sold. Ordered vehicles in other words. Also...in other
words.. POPULAR and folks are not having a "price issue." Maybe part of that is helped by the fact that for many years....my dealer does NOT ever sell any vehicle, including the
latest Type S NSX...OVER MSRP!! Get that, a great sports car like the NSX...ceasing production...only 300 built for U.S. and my dealer has sold 3....ALL at MSRP.
And ONLY because of the current issues in getting parts...that ALL manufacturers are having....are they selling even at MSRP!! I buy often...my last 2...a '22 MDX Adv. and in my garage now,
a '22 RDX A-Spec Adv. were bought at MSRP. The ONLY 2 in the last 10+ years have I ever had to pay MSRP. Always before worked off of Invoice.pricing. Sign of the times.
I agree with what I've seen and read...that the Type S Tech version is not that popular, because the desired "goodies" are on the Adv. version...and, again, those are selling in MOST places.
IF my TLX Type S doesn't get built....latest is "it might" this week after almost a 9 month wait, I would have bought an MDX Type S Adv, white/red for me, while my wife drives the RDX. More her
size! LOL! I'd have put different wheels and tires on it, as I often do, and just enjoyed it's room, comfort, etc. I told my friend and Inv. Mgr....IF the TLX doesn't show up, I want a '23 MDX Type S Adv,
Word is they are going to start building them in July...??? So, why get a '22? No indication of when '23 TLX's will start building. Type S versions can no longer be ordered. They are now finishing up
building the Type S's that have been on order.....FOREVER!!! His last 3 TLX's...yes, were Type S's, delivering to customer ordered cars many months ago. We THINK mine will be built this week....the
date Acura gave him for my white/red version. No VIN...this week, then I just might order that '23 MDX Type S Adv.

I have a coworker who asked about a TLX Type S in the showroom. For a 3 year lease, he was quoted over $900 monthly payment WITH money down!
These guys are smoking something good!

that number is right. zero incentives, no incentivized money factors and 55k plus car means high payments. here in texas if you could get someone to sell you a TLX Type S at sticker, which isnt happening (go look at 2021 TLX Type S used, they are selling for more than MSRP). at 72m with zero down 3.9% you are paying over $920.00 a month. $900.00 on a 36 month lease is actually a pretty decent number all things considered if that number is virtually zero down.

Sticker wasn’t showing any ADM (straight MSRP) but the sales guy’s computer appeared to be doing some funny math. I think my coworker was putting about 3-4k down on the lease.

Who is buying these cars? I barely see any TLXs on the road and haven't seen one Type-S yet and I live in one of the biggest metros in the U.S. and see just about any car you can think of. And a months upon months wait for an Acura!? Never, I would go find something else and there are lots of worthy competitors these days.
I do see a ton of the new MDXs, though, and it really is a nice looking vehicle.

Spoiler
I have the 2nd best TLX in my opinion (1G A-Spec SH-AWD) and I’m thoroughly enjoying this car a lot and I still can relatively keep up with the TLX-S
![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
As for seeing the new TLX on the roads I live in the DMV area and see many new TLXs from Base up to Type-S I have seen several Type-S cars on the road. People definitely are buying them. Someone in my neighborhood has a 2022 Majestic Black A-Spec AWD as a matter of fact.

That's interesting. The TLX here (Philly) does not seem to be as popular as the last gen TLX, nowhere close. I haven't seen one TLX-S on the roads yet either.
Even taking the shortage into account I would have expected to see more than I do.

I have seen quite a lot of non-S TLXs around town. Here in SoFlo, you see all kinds of cars though frequently including Teslas, Porsches, Bugattis, Lykans, Ferraris, Lambos. Coincidentally I saw another MDX-S this morning.

I just (well, a couple hours ago) saw an MDX Type-S commercial on HGTV. I know the TLX-S had a lot of marketing around it, but never a commercial on nationally televised cable that was specifically marketing only the Type-S. That along with the fact that all six dealers on LI have double-digit MDX-S's (with half or more being Advance trim) ... in fact, there's more MDX-S's than all other cars combined in most cases (including non-MDXs) ... I think it's safe to say Acura isn't thrilled with sales. At this point, they should cease all production and divert resources to the TLX-S. At this take rate, dealers should be good for the rest of the year on MDX-S stock, while they still have people waiting on the TLX-S whom they may potentially lose.

MDX Type S also building up at many New Jersey dealers as well (both Advance and Tech). However the Advance model (non Type S) is in very short supply. Going forward Acura should produce more of those. The pricing of the Type S is probably thousands higher than most traditional Acura customers are willing to pay and after the initial burst of buyers that has passed, the model mix in inventory is not in the proper balance. For the 2023 model year likely that Acura will adjust to lower production of Type S models.
Now why TLX Type S production is still so low is the better question-demand remains strong.

6G TLX-S
Until the new Integra starts collecting dust in dealership lots, otherwise TLX and TLX-S production will continue to take the back seat.

I hate to say, but now that I have my Type S, I kinda like how limited they are. Sorry.

Easy. The very limited semiconductor chips went into the cars that were supposed to have the highest margin/highest demand. Choosing to put them in the MDX Type S is a no-brainer. Pricing the MDX Type S in the upper stratosphere (for an Acura) is not.

Very excited to see the Integra's sales numbers! I am really sad that this chip shortage is hurting Acura.
Acura got an awesome lineup of vehicles that beat pretty much every vehicle in its respective segment.
MDX = Top seller
RDX = one of the Top 5 sellers
TLX = one of the Top 3 sellers
ILX - doing amazing considering the age of the car
Dream lineup with Integra!
Don't forget, the MDX TYPE S is doing magic for Acura. Acura already sold 2 years worth of MDX TYPE S based on their forecast. It's not over yet....

Heck, even the X5 and GLE have caught up to the MDX. Still a strong seller, as is the RDX.

MDX vs. GV80, RX-L, QX60, X7, GLS. I still think the 3rd row of MDX is small and imagine how doe sit look like in an X5.
so, MDX is the TOP!

Are you not following the statement I responded to? I simply stated that Tony Pac shouldn't have lumped the GLS in with the MDX (since he was talking about apples to apples comparisons). Not sure why there is a need to bring up the Suburban/Escalade at all.
#553
I figured since we are talking about SUVs in a TLX section, I’ll add more to the competition.

For more info here's the infotainment processor by TI that's used in many Honda's and even there are 4 major variants of this chip not including all the package configuration.

As for the many different types of chips used in cars, TI has a great selection guide.

Some of the irrelevant messages are deleted and more to come. We want to make sure this section of the forum stays relevant and helpful to Acura community and not BMW and Audi. I just mentioned TLX and other Acura's sales numbers. leomio2.0 brought up GLE and X5 and I responded. Now case closed and let's focus on the main topic. I apologize if I went off topic.

Burning Brakes
1. I would love to see Acura do well.
2. Their potential is huge given what Honda is able to accomplish, but they've habitually underwhelmed due to a lack of investment from parent Honda and some head-scratching decisions.
3. Clearly Honda knows how to build great cars...and yet the same has not translated to Acura. It's few and far between (if ever) that an Acura product comes out on top when compared with the competition.

You're making the naive assumption that all semiconductor chips are identical for the TLX and MDX and it's easy to interchange where the resources go. There most probably are some commonly used chips between both models but most probably there are specific chips that are only in each model. Alot depends when the models are designed, there are many factors in determining which chips are selected for a new design.

I don't know if the new Integra has the same ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v71) that's in my TLX but you can be sure they will be ordering plenty to keep up with perceived demand for a returning model.
