2021+ Acura TLX & TLX TYPE S Sales Numbers

I prefer the term faux-M, but M Lite is used plenty in the media. Sounds like you're the one who's out of touch. It's been called M-Lite for at least 5 years now. All you have to do is google bmw "m-lite", or spend time on any BMW forum, and you'll find no shortage of hits.

Weren't you talking about how “Tesla fanboys” and others are trying to name their calls M3P, and disapproved it. So you approve one but not the other. Sounds like a double standard to me. No BMW fanboys exist though, right?

Let's cut the BMW M topics. I will delete all if it continues.
You are most welcome to discuss BMW's recent FRAUD and misleading numbers by fooling the investors.

You’re here on this sales thread boasting about how fast your car is and spending lots of time and posts trying to prove a point. Yet I’m the one triggered, I’ll admit I did chuckle as some of your posts. Awesome logic. BMW must be paying you overtime.

Post where I’m boasting how fast my car is? I’ll wait . Yes BMW is paying me overtime like Acura is for you.

“With a JB4, my car is a fast as an M3 yo!”.
“I could afford an M3”
Nobody asked you.
Once again, attempting to stroke your ego, big man. It sounds like you got your first car that you’re happy with, congrats. Just make sure it doesn’t turn you into an egocentric person

The funny thing is, I didn’t mention an Acura product once with my posts towards you, minus the one earlier today for demonstration purposes.

Yea, the imaginary people that want an M340i here in the sales thread and are asking for opinions. I must be really affected if you ever see me in the BMW forums talking about how fast my MYP (Model Y Performance, before you think it’s an M3 Y-spoke Performance) is in a BMW sales numbers thread. Your responses are getting more and more childlike. Here you are days later bickering because you had your feelings hurt from a comment that wasn’t even directed to you. Get over it, it’s the internet. Deal with it and move on, stop dwelling over the past.

Can we just go back to talking about how Acura priced themselves out of their target customer segment with the MDX Type S?

Class for class, Acura is a better buy. Its 'Merican built with 'Mericans in mind, Japanese designed, low maintainenece, cheaper parts, More mature, less F-U aura on the road. There are upsides as with most comparisons, but lets keep talking about these great sales numbers! Go Acura!

Seeing MDX Type-S on the lot means they will be more sought after by enthusiests later!

Whether they make sales or not, it doesn’t affect me but I hope that Honda can retain it’s motorsports roots in their performance cars. The FK8 is magical with it’s agility.

Last warning, stick to TLX numbers here and take your nonsense from here. NO MDX here. Go to MDX Sales numbers, this is for TLX.
Compare the fraud numbers of BMW - 3 series. Which probably sold les than TLX and they boost the numbers to show to their investors
AUDI already fcuked up with Dieselgate so we won't go there.

I am disappointed Acura didn't stick with the hybrids, as the RLX and MDX were neat and a hybrid RDX would have been cool.

This is apparently old news. It was for sales reported between 2015-2019 with the investigation kicking off in 2019. 2020 & 2021 the 3-series maintained its sales supremacy over the TLX by 2:1 without a dramatic fall off, so there's your unadulterated comparison.

as much as you want Acura to fail with everything your statement is only partially true. They messed up by even offering two trim levels. Most dealership are having zero issues selling the Advance Type S for 73k. The Tech Type S for 68k isnt selling because people looking in that price range what all the features. I have yet to have a single Advance Type S sit on the lot for more than a few days. Most are presold right now. I think you underestimate the buying power of Acura clientele.

Think of it his tway: cars like the CRV, Civic, and Accord have been sales hits and beloved by automotive journalists, constantly coming out on top over the competition in terms of practicality, performance, quality, etc. They dominate in most every facet. Clearly Honda knows how to build great cars...and yet the same has not translated to Acura. It's few and far between (if ever) that an Acura product comes out on top when compared with the competition. If pointing out that reality makes me want Acura to fail, then so be it.

Possibly. But they could also kill of models like the TLX while still making what they can off of the popular ICE top sellers, and then do a phased out approach of what is left.

There are 2 things that caused the demise of Acura Power-Hybrids. First, Acura Power-Hybrids are just a stop gap solution until a more lasting high power non-hybrid V6 can be developed. Now the new single-turbo-V6 engine can provide 350+hp, and also force-induction engines have virtually unlimited tuning potential as long as the engine will hold together. Secondly, hybrids, that are for hp and not for fuel economy, has no place in today's world of ever stringent CAFE requirements.
The next step will be EV, which all automakers on earth are feverishly working on right now.

Unlike the Honda hybrids that aim to improve fuel economy, Acura hybrids are designed to boost hp (not to optimize fuel economy) due to the lack of high power (350+hp) non-hybrid V6 engines.

Honda and Acura Sales take a Serious Dive
The total domestic car sales for Honda, including Acura cars, during April 2022 was 35,040. That sounds impressive until you glance over the April 2021 figures, which came to 49,192. That's a drop of 28.3 percent. The Acura division suffered slightly less, with a decline of 18.8 percent.
Truck sales took a severe dive. The Honda division took a 41.2 percent dive in April 2022 compared to April 2021, while Acura's truck sales dipped by 38.1 percent.
The model that took the biggest dive is the Acura RLX. In April 2021, Acura sold 26, and a year later, it sold one unit. That's a 96.2 percent drop but is little surprise since the RLX has been discontinued.
...Acura sold nearly 11,000 units, 4,735 of which were the new MDX flagship. Acura's sedans also posted their best sales figures in a single month in April, with TLX sales nearing 2,000 units.

A further comment about the use of the term fanboy. If an individual male loves their car and brand, then the is literally a "fanboy", he owns a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Acura, GM, etc. However there are several problems with the common usage of that term, It can be a sexist term, as many women own and like cars. Second, it's often used here in a somewhat demeaning way, as in, people who like their Acuras are fanboys and those who drive other brands such as BMW simply like their cars and the brand. Their is a strong scent of arrogance in this usage, particularly on this forum, i.e. that an Acura fanboy is misguided, but, for example, others are "correct" in loving their BMWs.
Perhaps, for reasons of civility and respect, people debate and exchange information and views without use of terms such as fanboy. The word fan works perfectly well, to wit, I am a fan of Acura but appreciate other brands as well.

While on the other side of the price range, Tesla is the only brand that has been taking sales from their competitors with an 87% increase YoY compared to the industry average of -16%.
Competition is a win for consumers as it’ll push manufacturers to be more competitive, such as the N line from Hyundai.
With the addition of EV and the 2026 MPG mandate, it sounds like many manufacturers have a lot of R&D ahead of them to stay in the industry and relevant. It’s a shame since car names are starting to introduce new vehicles that are remanence of the 90s/00s era excitement.

Just like the buyers that opted for the auto Type-S due to the smoothness valve that Only Acura had designed into its clutch slave cylinder, as simple mod made shifts brisk and tight!
Seeing MDX Type-S on the lot means they will be more sought after by enthusiests later!
