True. Capable of low 12s and 33 mpg, the M340i is head and shoulders above the rest of the segment and is the clear benchmark. (Still annoyed that Honda benchmarked the C43 and S4 rather than the M340i) So, fair game that is comes up several times.
#2763
S4 is mid 12's with great gas mileage as well so Acura missed the mark completely.
#2764
Acura hedging whether the TLX should be classified as a compact vs mid-size car is really hurting its identity.
#2766
At least in the states, we still aren't seeing them. Non Type-S models are JUST trickling in this week and there still isn't any word on Type S, though Acura seems to update dealers mid-month on that. As far as I've seen (and I'm very impatiently watching for them) only one Type S popped up in the States and almost immediately disappeared.

Considering that there were no mechanical changes and the only major upgrade are the digitial dash and infotainment screen, why is everyone so excited about new reviews? They're going to largely read the same as last time: good looks, underwelming performance, but at least now the tech is improved.

I wonder if that will tie in with US shipping the cars to dealers... My dealer always says that they get news on what's coming mid month. No chance you have insider info on that, huh?

Aside from that, if I were set on buying the TLX, the updated features in the 24 wouldn't be enough (for me) to overcome the discounts one could get on the 23 model.

Though I'm not as critical of the product as you, I generally agree. ....and the digital cluster likely wont differ much from that of the MDX, which has been on the market since late 2021.

That said, those who are new in the market, the refreshed tlx becomes a solid choice as you get 360, usb ports in the back, wireless apple CarPlay and HUD standard (us models). It’s more appealing I would say

Honestly, there is no point to switch from 2021, 22 or 23 to get a 2024. I think the pre refresh is as awesome as the new one. Actually, I love the analog gauges and will stick to them as long as I can. Hate this new trend of screen every where.

Why buy a near $60k car and ruin the wheels in a drive-thru or any other low-lying permanent structure?
Also, I could never park my TLX straight within the lines on the company lot using rear camera alone!

I would pick 360 any day over HUD and I don't disagree with you. Coming to Advance vs the rest of the trims. Acura got 3 years of data, they must have sold very limited number of advance, therefore they stopped it. I only see A-Spec and TYPE S in Canada. The other trims were not popular at all. A-SPEC provides good value with some driving dynamic and it's priced very reasonable The Type S is more expensive but now it gives you pretty much everything. I believe Acura did a great job by keeping the TLX trims neat and clean: 3 trims in the US and 2 in Canada. That said, even with all the features the TYPE S is ~CAD$30-35K cheaper than Germans in Canada and ~US$10-15K in the US. At the end of the day, it comes down to brand preference, lease vs. buy and of course your wallet to choose TLX vs. A4 or G70 and so on....
Once again, we can agree or disagree all the day, there is no perfect car, at least <$100K. You might get a perfect car if you want to spend $150-200K. It comes down to our personal decisions. Still over 16,000 people bought the TLX last year and 32,000 the Integra. As you know and read, the negativity around the Integra was insane, yet it's one of the most successful sedans out there

Since the Canadian customers have received their New TLX, a fresh review is out and it was a 17 minute of joy to watch these guys driving it. The title of their video is awesome:

It's fascinating to see the interest level of people in TLX. As some members mentioned here, there is no major update and yet in less than 2 days. Over 225K views and 1K comments. Amazing! Cannot wait for more reviews!

An entertaining review but these guys do a little too much goofing around for my taste. It's like they are trying too hard to be the next Top Gear/Grand Tour. Nobody, but nobody, can duplicate what Clarkson/Hammond/May achieve with their perfect balance of goofing around and being serious. Of all the YouTubers, I think only Saran 'N Tuned comes close to achieving this. Her technical credentials are first rate and she is quite charming in her presentation by mostly not laying the "smart bimbo" routine on too thick. https://youtu.be/wLFq62U5eJ8?si=jrH8wqktNKO0izdt
There is one more reviewer from Canada and he is very knowledgeable and informative guy. Check some of his reviewed and you will see. https://www.youtube.com/@AutomotivePress

Well said. I have said this in the past if you have noticed these guys and the TH are reviews for fun. My current favorite reviewer is Savagegeese. Honestly, these guys have technical expertise and they are a bit funny bit nothing crazy.

I've watched the Automotive Press guy a lot. He's very informative; with very little comedy but really doesn't need it; as he comes across as very likable.

Finally, the one thing that they did better than the review is the TITLE: Criminally Underrated! 100% true!

I disagree. The only way to get the surround camera now is w/the Type S now that the Advance trim is gone. The cameras are way more compelling than the HUD or digital dash (and not first-gen tech for Acura)! I have it on my X3 and wonder how I ever hoped to keep a car in good shape w/o it!

I park in a garage and seeing the bird's eye view and being able to judge the distance for objects in front of me is something I won't give up any time soon. The surround cameras hopefully also makes it easier for valets to do a good job parking your car!

I never had a car with HUD and I drove for 30 min my friends RX350 and I won't lie the HUD did not work for me. It kind bothered me. Possible I am not used to it....Did anyone else experience the same as me?

On a test drive of an X7 w/the HUD, my wife found it very distracting and didn't like it. I think the HUD is not for everyone!

Without going R&P here, I'm well aware of her 'origin'. I'm generally not compelled by her presentation but do view the channel from time to time. However, I definitely find this channel more compelling than Straight Pipes though; those guys are just too clownish for my taste.

What happened to Sam carlegion? He cashed out a lot from Acura. I would say Acura products were the most viewed lol. He kept brining the TLX. Now I don't hear from him. He is a nice guy but his content and whole videos were so not interesting. I am not saying just about Acura....all his reviews.

Who else is comparable to SG?

If memory serves, "Slow Sam" kept losing nearly every race he was in that involved an Acura. It got to the point where nobody really wanted to donate their car to be raced!

As to the rest, TH is a joke, Doug Demiro i don't think many take that seriously on car reviews although his insight on the car industry is pretty good like Tyler Hoovie, TBH, I don't have much free time so I pretty much only watch SG and on occasion AoA.

SG is kinda alone in their technical analysis space, AoA is very good but he sticks to a almost Consumer Reports style which works well. I recommend both of them to anyone looking at cars. Their content is good on reviews and IMO honest and forthright. Edmunds YouTube also have great reviews.

AoA is great too - and very consumer-focussed.
Redline; Sofyan seems a little too concerned (more and more as time passes) about stepping on toes but the reviews are informative and well-shot.
Joe Raiti - Seems like a great guy but reviews are interchangeable - always zonks the same things - way too unwilling to admit something is terrible.

Chalk up another fav for SG, my go-to for reviews. Their latest on the '24 Trailblazer is the funniest review from them yet.

I think I connect with Jason Cammisa the most as we seem to have similar outlooks on all things automotive. Fenske's presentation is flat out professorial in nature, with ton's of technical guidance. Props and gratitude to both!!
