The new RLX is already not selling well. So if the new TLX is also being launched this year, it will fuck up the RLX sales even more, especially it's between the AWD RLX and the AWD TLX.

So it is wise for Honda to delay the new TLX by at least a year to the calender year 2014, in order to give the RLX some breathing room.
The new RLX is nice, but just not that much nicer than their other cars and I bet the new TLX will just be a notch less for much less money. Acura should probably just stop making the RLX, either that or bump it up a notch to Lexus levels. I am quite sure Acura could do it. I guess the biggest problem is price point. If Acura cannot compete with Lexus, perhaps they should give it up. IMHO, the previous RL was just a notch above the TL, for way more money. Why would you buy it and it showed in sales. The bifggest problem is Acura buyers will not likely pay Lexus money. Me personally, I love Acura vehicles, especially with the price point.

Firstly I loved my TL interior and was pleased to see the RDX's was similar. Let me just tell all of you who have not driven the new RDX, the interior quality, especially over the 2011 RDX is night and day. It is refined, clean, quiet, fit and finish is tremendous. Acura has kicked it up a notch, to me closer to Lexus quality. This is the quietest Acura I have ever had. The best part is the cost is about the same as the 2011 RDX. Granted the new RDX does not have the SH-AWD, but to tell you the truth, I don't know if I will miss it.They also have gotten away from the chrome exhaust extenders, which I liked, especially on my 2010 TL's quads, but again it does not matter? The new RDX is very good looking with a nice beak.

I am sure the new TL will step it up too. I saw the new RLX, which is very nice, but to me It is not in the Lexus class for a similar vehicle.

My last point is, with the new Accord already out I think late last year, but I cannot be sure, why would they be waiting until late this year for the new TL?
I have to agree with you, my wife has a 2012 RDX Tech and whenever I get a loaner from the dealer they give me a 2013 RDX and they are night and day, so much so that my wife is already considering trading hers in for the newer model. That said, I loved my 2012 TSX because it was a fun and sporty driver's car. I recently upgraded to a 2013 TL and I love it, although I do wish I would have gotten the 6 MT rather than the 6 AT. I just hope that with the new TLX Acura keeps it exciting, sporty and fun.

Ben was cruising through Death Valley over the weekend and spotted some BMW i8s being tested. Intrigued, he followed them into a parking lot and found a group of Honda and Acura(?) test mules along with a new 2014 MDX. 1 of them appears to be some sort of Accord V6 variant, but this heavily camo'd 1 could be an early mule for the 2015 Acura TLX.

Maybe just my imagination but if it is the TL or TLX, seems like it could be the 4G meets the 3G with 4G like width, height, and wheel arches, a 3G like silhouette, particularly in bumpers, ILX like rear taillights, side crease like the Accord's, and the new front grill theme with a similar headlight design as the current but with the jewel led treatment but that's just a guess, could be an Accord mule testing eSH for all I know.

I wouldn't think it is a good trade for Acura to delay a car that could be responsible for 3-4 thousand sales a month in order to give more attention to the RLX which, if lucky, would sell 400 a month.

Some are speculating that these are RLX AWD test mules. But that doesn't make sense to me. I'm hoping they are TLX test mules and we'll see some info on the new TLX at the LA Auto Show.

I've been looking at the new IS which is almost exactly the same size as my now very old TSX and I'm liking it very much. This car is tops on my list. Acura will have to work to take its place.

Shape sure does look very 4G TLish. Also looks like jewel LED headlights through the camo. Maybe they are preserving the best fo the 4G TL with just a little nip/tuck work.

Agreed Keith. I don't what to think about that. I drove a 2014 IS and it's really nice. I'm tempted but the pragmatist in me will win out -- I ain't paying no full boat + premium to be a beta tester for Lexus -- I think. I can never know when I'll get obsessed and have to have new tech in a new car.

Just saw a Motor Trend test Caddy vs RLX & the RLX got the overall win on points. Thing that was eye popping was the $62K MSRP price on the FWD RLX. I thought the AWD version was going to be in that price range. The Caddy was also about $62K.

Unfortunately, Acura was putting high hope on the flagship model during it's RLX inception, and didn't expect the utterly poor sales of today.

The Acura product launch planning was done years ago, with the intention that the TLX would not step on the RLX's toes during the latter's 1st year of launching.

It is also wise to spread out new vehicle launches, such that the best scenario is to launch 1 new vehicle every year, in order to keep the auto brand fresh and in the news spotlight.

Manufacturing a new model is not a child's play, and every processes (such as development, testing, component procurement, factory production scheduling, launch preparation, etc.) have been carefully planned out in a fixed timetable years ago.

So no matter how bad (or how well) the RLX is selling, there is just nothing Acura can do to speed up releasing the TLX into the market.

Looking at those spy shots, I bet it's the SH-AWD version of the RLX. Car looks too big to be a TL(X).

Mehhh, sounds about right considering it's Acura's flagship model. Realisitically, it will sell for mid to high $50K. We can all agree cars these days are expensive.

Did you see on the facebook page of acura, an image with angel eyes on left side and a human eyes on the other. For me the lights seems to be those of MDX but may be it was a teasing for TLX

Yes that's the MDX, Acura would never tease us with a photo like that unless they are about to unveil something new.

I am sure Acura is having lots of fun at reading all the speculations here and on TOV. I am on the side of "this is the TLX" being tested rather than the RLX. It seems too small to be the RLX but I could be wrong. I know we can't hang out hat on these prototypes as far as wheel designs but when we go back, they were actually the production wheels so I am a bit nervous as these look hideous in my mind.

The excitement begins....

Could be me, or maybe the camo, but it does not look sized like the new Accord, it's proportions look more like the current 4G TL

There is also the possibility that they show the car in November with a January on sale date so they don't have to make any 14 TL or TSX and don't have to drag 13 out longer than necessary.

This is very probable. I'm hoping that they show a near-production "prototype" version of the TLX in November 2013 (LA Auto Show) and then reveal the production-ready version in January 2014 (Detroit Auto Show) and then release it for sale after a month or two.

I sure hope you guys are right on the money about this being a TLX. It does seem to have some 4G characteristics. I honestly dont think it is a TLX, too me I think its a RLX Hybrid. Reason which makes believe this is 1. By the looks of the person inside the car it seems RLX sized. 2. Looking at the picture with the door open and looking down the sheet-metal of the door it really has RLX lines. Also the fenders seem to have that curvy motion that follow into the doors. Lots of people have pointed out some differences which I do see, just seems to me this is a larger car then we were expecting. Either way im ready for the wrap to come off.

I think these cars (in camo) are the TLX. The dash does not appear like the RLX. And why would they camo the RLX just for the SH-SH-AWD? The car is for sale, there is no secret any longer. One of the TLX's may be the FWD and he other RWD? But they do have very similar lines to the 4G. I'm not sure that is a good sign. It could mean the car is just a slight update to the 4G.

I'm looking for signs on the folding rear seats... come on Acura, surprise me!!!!

So if we look back to the 4G, spy shots started surfacing around June/July of 2008 with an on sale date that fall, so I can see a January 1 on sale date to allow them to release it as a 2015. Unless they announce something in the next 30-60 days I have other options lined up already and will wait for the TLX MMC maybe.

According to TOV, a very reliable poster there (HONDA AFVM) has been able to confirm with his source that the picsture are NOT the RLX but indeed the TLX. He was told that this is intended to create an optical illusion but that the TLX will not be an evolution of the 4G, for those who didn't like the current generation. This is exciting, almost feel as if I am seeing the first ultrasound of my baby *lol*

If it is indeed the TLX, I don't see exposed exhaust tips. No bueno man. I hope Acura will offer a 6MT w/ the SH-AWD version at least. I'll likely get the MMC if that's the case. Eager to see more spy shots.

The rear bumper in the mystery pics is also "angular and pointy" which IMHO suggests the camouflaged vehicle is indeed likely the TLX.

All speculation on my part but it looks like they already have the engine choices, the 290 from the MDX in the FWD and the 310 from the RLX in the SH. I think they keep the mechanical SH as the RLX needs something more to distinguish itself (distancing the lineup is the main objective here) which would almost garauntee a 6MT return.

Expect the same treatment as the RDX and MDX (and to an extent the RLX), weight savings, improved fuel economy, increased comfort and noise reduction, a bit more interior space with emphasis put on the trunk and it's use and the same type of new available tech and implementation.

If you're right than that means a "softening" of the lines but the same basic shape, etc.

Good one "ultrasound of my baby" ... I say that is the TLX . Looking at the size of the vehicle and some interior designs. I wonder what the engine options will be??

This is exciting, almost feel as if I am seeing the first ultrasound of my baby *lol*
