Blurb about the Sid Vicious MY Way spot.
What I find interesting is this blurb:
"Acura is launching the car with the largest marketing campaign in brand history, notable for its focus on digital media and bypassing broadcast networks in prime time."
The Largest marketing campaign will largely be "digital media" - are they talking about social media? Not sure exactly what that means.

Interesting. Yes, social media, YouTube, pre and post roll videos (the videos you're forced to see before you see the video you want to see), probably Vine, ads on MSN, Yahoo, AOL. It's really smart of them to do that.

I would assume they can go after their target demographic pretty specifically that way - wondering who that is beyond Seinfeld fans.

Last night I saw the Sid Vicious commercial on MSNBC (at around 9:45 pm) during the Rachael Maddow show. I think that might be a good audience to target. I still like that commercial as it shows the cars designers and testers very excited about and/or very emotionally involved in the car. Made me feel that way too.

You wouldn't believe how granular they can get in their targeting and how much they can optimize it based in demo/psycho behavior patterns. It's to the point where they now use sophisticated math proofs to create predictive forecasts. Digital marketing is populated with MIT, Stanford, and Harvard grads in even lower positions -- and they do what they're trained to do. The only aspects that keeps screwing them up are -- human will -- freedom of choice -- and the unpredictability of the psychological state of the end user when confronted with an ad.

Slate Silver finally!!!
One of the dealerships near me got a slate silver in finally! I got there a bit early so it wasn't out in the regular lot yet. I couldn't take any good pictures because there were cars on both sides of it... but here are a few.
There was a Silver Moon ILX near the Slate Silver TLX. In comparison the slate silver is kinda like a light gray versus a true silver imo. It's a bit darker as expected. And, if you get close up in certain lighting (like the side shot and the back where there was a bit of shade) it looks almost bluish gray... but then in other lighting (like the front picture where the sun was shining directly on the car) it's more dark silver/light gray. I actually like the color a lot. It looks very unique in person imo

Ok, now we're talking. I think I love that Slate Silver. That with Ebony interior looks like a winner to me, but may be too close to my TSX now...
The black also looks great, but...me and my OCD levels and trying to keep it looking good may just send me to the nut house. But nothing shines like a clean black car smh...

Now, this is great - the traditional silver is too light, IMHO, for this vehicle. This car needs a medium silver/gray and it looks like the Slate Silver will just be IT! :-)
I also like the fact that it does have a bluish hue under some lighting condition... yes! Sounds like a more grayish version of Forged Silver!!! (which in my book is a GOOD thing!)

Why does Acura have such a problem making a pure silver car? I do not get it, Silver is one of the top 3 colors of cars bought yet the 4G and the 5G Acura insists on putting its own spin on silver. It hurt them on the 4G and they eventually at MMC conceded, now we'll see how it works on the 5G.

I believe he's referring to Forged Silver which was a bluish silver.. I personally loved the color but it did not sell well... Then they had Silver Moon which is silver silver, that sold better. I personally think they should have had both Slate silver (darker silver) and Silver Moon (silver silver)... more options

I like the TLX and will probably like it a lot more when I finally see it in person. But I have to agree, the body kit looks terrible
In the rear the part that bothers me is how it wraps around the bumper above the reflectors.
I think the front looks worse, especially the way it wraps around the front bumper below the headlights.
IMO I think it would be safe to assume that the body kit would look better on darker colors where the "stick on" look wouldn't be so pronounced.

Then again, I will most likely withhold judgement until I see one in person

I don't like the kit either and I have added the kits to most cars I get. Unless RonJon does something for this, I will just add the splash guards and be done with it. In some angles, the kit looks okay but too many others.. it doesn't.

Agreed, that body kit looks "tacked on", even the side skirts which were much better intergrated on the 3G and 4G cars. When my time comes I will forgo the body kit as well. May even forgo the rear spoiler which also looks "tacked on". Now what I do like is that chrome trim for the door bottoms.

The pre-MMC there was no silver, I see way more MMC TLs that pre-MMC. Once they brought back silver and tone the beak down they started selling again. I will have to see the Silver Slate in person, but the Forged Silver and Palladium colors were weak replacements for silver.

I believe the chrome trim option for the bottom of the doors will do wonders. It will add details to that rather bland area, consistency (both front and rear already have some chrome details) and width.

Hey now, I love my Palladium lol
I can understand what you're saying though. However, plain ol' regular silver for me is just too light and boring. I love how my Palladium almost have a "Champagne" hue to it due to the yellowish flakes in the mornings and at dusk, and is the main reason I got a pre-owned instead of a new "real" silver when I got it. It seemed to just turn colors on the lot when the sun came out.
This slate silver is right down my alley, not to dark and not to light - based on these pictures. Still haven't seen ANY color TLX "in the wild" yet.

Sat in a couple at the dealership
So I ventured out to Airport Acura tonight to see one in person. It was later in the evening and they only had one sales guy on the lot talking to someone so they left me alone. I found a couple TLX's that were open so I was able to nose around them and sit inside for a bit.
My initial impressions:
1) The white one looks really nice in person - it does look better than any picture.
2) The black one didn't look as sharp - at least in the early evening sun. The lines get washed out in the rear and it looks a little bland. The red didn't impress me either. The white, on the other hand - really looked sharp. Classy even.
3) That said - I didn't get the "I have to have one" moment.
4) The espresso interior surprised me - it looks pretty good on the white car. I don't care so much for it in photos but in person I liked it.
5) The interior is nice, a little smaller than my 13 Accord - which is a good thing for me. However, while it has nicer touches (wood instead of plastic in parts - more of a cockpit feel which I liked) it really didn't seem that much nicer than the Accord with regard to "soft touch" surfaces. Similar to the Accord in many ways. That was a bit disappointing I guess. That is to say - I really like my Accord - I was just hoping the Acura would be a bit more luxury than the Accord wrt materials.
Overall I wasn't as impressed as I hoped I would be from just the visuals. I plan on driving one this Saturday morning so that will be the true test. Anyways - we don't have enough pictures yet so here are a few more:

When you drive the car, be sure and bring your favorite CD with you, listen to it in your Accord on the way to the test drive, then play in the TLX. The difference will blow you away along with smooth ride and ultra quiet inside.
It isn't a super luxury but is a step up from the Accord. When I did my test drive, I found it hard to get back in my Accord. The difference is obvious, at least to me.

I plan on taking my ipod with me as it's all I use in my Accord - I'm interested in comparing it to the ELS in the Acura.
I should note - I think the interior in the TLX is very very nice and given the slight price difference between the TLX and the Accord EXL I guess I shouldn't expect huge improvements - perhaps my expectations were set a bit high.
Also - I sat in an MDX with a sticker in the upper 40's and the interior (materials) was pretty much the same as the TLX.
