The ILX accessories do look great on that car. I wasn't so sure about the 4G (rear piece) and now the TLX. Now one thing I can agree on is BWP looks amazing on this car. The 3G TL, 2G MDX, and 4G TL are the only cars that wore that looked good in various shades of white (different paint codes).

Easy fix for the HUD
Several manufactures are coming up with HUD but I saw a video from navdy and I am super impressed.....considering a base tlx with navdy instead of tech

Spotted my first TLX in the wild! From the same dealership I'm getting mine from. It looks awesome on the road especially the LED headlights and taillights!! Can't wait to get mine!!

Funny how noone's really publicly voiced their passion for the ILX looks, despite the TLX's really, really, strong resemblence to it. Does this make the ILX look upmarket or the TLX look downmarket?

I can't be the only one who's noticed how similar the ILX (like the one to the left of this picture) looks to the TLX (front, profile, and back). Same slim, highly conservative look, same proportions, almost the same size.... The only differences are that the TLX has a hard lip on the top of the trunk lid and obviously the jewel headlights.

What is your point? All 3 sedans have similar looks.
#2132
Have you ever noticed all those Cadillac's look the same? Weird. When did they start doin' stuff like that?
All kidding aside, I saw my 1st TLX in LA and must say it looked great. Took me a while to pinpoint it as a TLX though as it is much smaller than the 4G I had.

The back is very different. The TLX's is waaaaay more muscular. The taillights are very different. The ILX's are much slimmer. But I guess some people only see the colors (red+white=looks the same).
Almost the same size?! The size difference is pretty significant to me. The front and back of the TLX look much more muscular. Besides the jewel eyes, the front lower bumper is very different.
You add all that up and you have two quite different looking cars, even if they share some design elements, which is to be expected.
By the way, I like the ILX's looks, except the whimpy rear which begs for a deck lid spoiler.

I think it's safe to say that, as of 2 years ago, there was no "Acura look," except for the beak. The 3G TL was muscular, compact, and I would go so far to say that I thought was really handsome. Acura went all out with the 4G TL, which was uncharacteristically aggressive, but over-beaked (09-11), with a love-it or hate-it reaction (count me as loving the look of the post-MMC 4G). The TSX was much more generic, which I suppose is preferable to an aggressive look that you hate. The RL was a car from another era (2005) and beared no resemblence to any other Acura car.
The ILX, as it turned out, was the first car with Acura's "new" look. In my opinion, the ILX is sleek and compact, but there's no denying the generic economy-car Civic-inspired looks. I really didn't know what to expect for the TLX, but am just a bit surprised/dismayed that Acura chose to use the econo ILX as inspiration, instead of the highly successful 3G TL.
After looking at several photos of the ILX and TLX side-by-side, it's apparent that a lot of personality has been removed from the TLX family, after the rude slapdown that Acura received for the early TL beak. It's just sad to see that Acura seems to have learned a twisted lesson in knowing their place in the premium brand name car world and is showing that they don't dare aim as high as before.

They don't have the luxury to cater to the 2% or 5% or 10% or whatever that number might be - they have to go after the 90%. It's pure business.

How can an inanimate object have a personality?

It sure seems to this poster that you are on a mission to prove that the TLX has moved "downmarket", whatever that is. The loss of the "aggressive" look of the 4G only changes the look, which SHOULD be a move in the right direction.

I think you may be injecting a bit too much emotion into the equation. Acura is a business - their business is selling cars. They want to sell as many cars as they can. They plainly stated the issue with the 4G was styling so they, in their effort to sell as many cars as they can, have come out with a much less controversial design.
They don't have the luxury to cater to the 2% or 5% or 10% or whatever that number might be - they have to go after the 90%. It's pure business.

Why would a buyer purchase a car for "driving experience," if not for a certain emotional appeal? While the hardware has no "personality," the car company sure employs the concept of personality in marketing the car to customers, do you not agree?

As opposed to a being on a mission to make it look as good as possible, if you're a potential buyer? Just voicing my opinionated observations, which is not so different than any other poster.

I do not equate driving appeal to a car's "personality".
Anyway, carry on with your mission. I won't comment on it again.

I saw my first TLX on the road a couple of days ago when I unexpectedly saw one in my neighbourhood - I have to say that even though it did look a bit bland from the back, somehow it did have a road "presence"! It was a black TLX and IMHO it is one of the best colours for this vehicle. If only I could maintain a black car properly.... sigh!
