2009 TL Pictures? ***NEW PICS ON PAGE 44***

My Two Cents
OK...so full disclaimer I am a 3G owner. Have been keeping an eye out for the new pictures for months and have read the thread.
My biggest issue is that I'm not sure the redesign helps to keep the TL differentiated enough. I see comments in here that it looks like a Camry...etc. While I am not compairing designs, I actually think the risk this time is it blending into the background too much. Sort of the issue with the RL...nothing makes it jump out at you. I NEVER hardly notice the RL now...of course they are pretty hard to find. : )
I think the side crease was a truly distinctive feature of the TL...and I'm sorry to see it go. It could have been "updated"...but to get rid of it takes a bit of TL brand equity away and again makes it's side profile quite average.
I need to see the fender in person, but based on the shading in their photo...it seems pretty big...and I think as dipicted in the photo it really distrupts that nice line from the headlight to the taillight.
Most importantly however will be the "rear"...which the 3G TL is very much distinguished currently from others. Historically it is square, angular, and retains elements going back to the 2G model in this respect.
The biggest item that I would hope for is the use of an engine that can take regular gas. When I am paying over $4.00 a gallon, that extra .20 really ticks me off... I'm not sure that more HP right now is what people are looking for....MPG is the new important standard to measure itself against the competition. Make an S-Version with the big engine...and offer a "green" engine option for us that want the style without the high cost of ownership.
Question...if this car was offered in a hybrid model with maybe a little over 200 HP and got say 34 City / 32 Highway...would that excite anyone?

06 Anthracite TL
My $0.02:
Overall, the car really does resemble either a GS460/ Maxima or to a lesser degree, an ES350- nice cars, but they have been out for a few years. I really don't like the 'power plenum' grille that Acura thinks everyone likes. The photoshopped pics at least make the car more appealing with the change in the grille and lower lip. I also agree that I'll be happier with the 3G TL getting ~25 mpg vs. the new car (granted will blow the doors off mine with a bigger, more powerful motor) getting substantially less mpg, unless Acura has tweaked it somehow to get decent mpg. It will definitely sell (won't be an Edsel), but unless I'm 'wowed' by it when I see it in person, it will be as anonymous as many other cars on the road today. At least the 3G TL has some presence (however, I don't want to bash what I haven't seen yet).

The 2009 looks about like I expected. It has the pronounced accent line on the side, just like the Accord, BMW 328, and Mercedes C Class. I don't care for that look, so I went on and got a 2008.

What in the HELL did they do to the TL? at first glance. Final judgement at release.
I am definitely keeping my RL.

I think ALL of the CHOPS look better than the "official" rendering. Loose the front fender BUMP too.
4G - not for me.
JJaber...maybe you should apply at Acura.

Somebody at Honda/Acura needs to give JJaber06 a job... he's got more sense in him than many of the designers already there.

holy shit I actually am in love with the 4G TL.
When I was washing my car outside of my house 3 days ago, the manager of Rallye Acura in Roslyn, NY drove past me and happened to be my neighbor. We talked Acura for around half an hour and he told me that the front resembles the TSX which it does, and the back will resemble the tail lights of the Lexus GS. They will have an angle and will sit high up.
I don't know about you guys but the SH-AWD 310 HP 4G TL is amazing.

Now, take the inner silver grill out and leave the floating 'A' and I think it would be perfect.

...and 310HP+SHAWD will be anything but amazing. It will be identical to the 09 RL performance-wise, which isnt anything to write home about.
I am curious about the interior though, because they always seem to be better than the competition by a pretty large margin.

The has always been a faster car then the rl, acura even knows that. The tl has 310hp more then rl, and it will have more torque, and it will be lighter, but all these things are slight diffrences. But if the current tl is faster then current rl, this tl is going to be twice as fast.

Same here....I'm diggin'it more and more! I'm sure it will be stunning in person. And by the time the Type S is released, I'll be ready to replace my '08!
Although, the strong character line above the front wheel arch looks a little out of place. They should just ended it aft of the front wheel arch like the 3G....more subtle.
And I kinda like the beak grill!

You certainly are entertaining, but, swear to God, half the time I wonder if you're on drugs.
310 SAE HP in a 4,000 pound, SH-AWD sedan is not going to be lucky to be faster than a base 3G TL and just a tad faster than an RL.
The only thing it'll be twice as fast as is a TSX pulling a loaded U-Haul Trailer.

Now that looks hot!
However this is what the design of the RL should have looked like.
The TL should have stayed smaller to keep up with the BMW 3series and Lexus IS, while the RL would have been a direct competitor to the BMW 5 series and Lexus GS. They also could have introduced another larger Acura to compete exclusively with the BMW 7 series and Lexus LS.
With the weight and predicted power numbers of the TL expect it to have EPA ratings of 16/25 for the AWD and 18/27 for the FWD.
I'm guessing they will run a 14.7 quarter mile for the AWD and a 14.9 for the FWD.

I will say that the 4G TL is much more refined and looks great (probably the best Acura to date), but personally I'm in the market of a sports sedan, whereas the 4G TL has become more of a luxury sedan similar to the RL, which doesn't appeal to me.
I suppose the Lexus IS350, G35, or BMW335 will be my future choices, however I was looking for something a bit less expensive.

Alas, unlike the rear end of 2009 TL we've already spotted around town a few times, you can make out quad-pipes, a clear sign this is almost certainly the 2009 Acura TL Type-S. Another good sign is the fact that there are clearly production staff running to move the car. So what should we expect from the new 2009 Acura TL and 2009 Acura TL Type-S?
I thought it was pretty well established that the quad pipes were the SH-AWD version and the Base had single outlets? I also thought there was a clear message that the TL-S (if released *at all*) wouldn't be until ~2011?

I have been really nervous about the new TL but after seeing it in the generations Photoshop that was posted earlier. I actually like what they have did with car. I still don’t like the grill but like the other Photoshop picture that can be taken car of.....
I have a question. I read on acura.com that the TL will have the most powerful engine ever in Acura history, so can we expect it to be over 300 on the base and more on the SH-AWD and then later a bigger boast with the Type S... Somebody make have already posted the answers to this but I haven’t read all 2 million pages yet....

In my opinion, the GS430 (current) does not look as good as the previous GS. It was like the used the back of the first generation one and rounded it off. Lexus is overrated. Quality is not good. As far as look the M is the best looking car in its class. Just my
